I wonder if Southern Miss is going to get calls from other CUSA members saying something like "Thanks for costing us $12 million, jerks!". :)

Edit: Huh, I thought the OU-OSU game would be lighting up the scoreboard, but it turns out the Big 10 decided to make defense optional.

well it seems OSU is lighting up the score board. OU not so much

Hokie fail. . .sad

Unfortunately, I don't think it will sway enough of them. If OSU gets in it will be because the computers were impressed with the win and Bama didn't play today.

You know who the big winner of all this could be-

Boise with the at-large bid

no way in hell Houston gets it with that kind of pathetic performance

Whew! That was too close for comfort but we'll take it. Msu is one helluva team and played hard until the end. Revenge is so sweet:D. Roses!

do everyone in the world a favor and beat the smiles off of those quackers. Bring them and their fans down to reality and send Thomas and James into the NFL with an ugly loss

then burn whatever jersey they decide to wear

TCU is the Mountain West champion, Boise is not. By rule, Boise cannot get the at-large bid over TCU, and since TCU will be the highest-ranked non-AQ conference champion and will (likely) be ranked inside the top 16, they will get the at-large bid.

I don't think OSU has done enough to earn a spot into the "championship" (although it's going to be very close), so I think the BCS bowls will end up like...

  • BCS Championship Game: LSU (SEC champ) vs Alabama (at large)
  • Rose Bowl: Wisconsin (Big 10 champ) vs Oregon (Pac-12 champ)
  • Fiesta Bowl: Oklahoma St (Big 12 champ) vs Stanford (at large)
  • Sugar Bowl: Michigan (at large) vs TCU (at large)
  • Orange Bowl: Clemson (ACC champ) vs. West Virginia (Big East champ)

It's possible that Kansas State could take either Stanford or Michigan's spot, with the former being more likely because Stanford doesn't draw as well as K-State or Michigan do.

Safe to say Kanas State will take Michigan spot.
I really hope tonights win with OSU over OU is enough to push them over the edge for number two.

Lets face it a LSU vs Alabama game would be crap and the ratings would be beyond crap for a NC BCS game.

For your theory to work, Stanford has to drop in the BCS, and I don't see anyone moving them out of the top 4.

There's some weird scenario where Stanford doesn't automatically qualify, even at #4, if a non-AQ does fulfill the automatic at-large qualifications, because they (Stanford) didn't win their conference. It's a pretty cloudy issue, but they were talking about it on TV today and it made (sort of) sense at the time.

That being said, I don't really see Stanford, with Andrew Luck playing in his final game, being left out. And TCU still has to move up two spots to make any of that happen, otherwise K-State will just fill their spot in the Sugar.

Also, I've changed my Heisman picks:

  1. Heisman Badger
  2. Montee Ball
  3. Robert Griffin III
  4. Trent Richardson
  5. Case Keenum

All that matters for the BCS is the top 2, and I don't see that changing
I believe LSU and Bama are the 2 best teams and have said so all year
The only reason to put Oklahoma State or Stanford in the game is just to give someone else a shot, not because they are the 2nd best team IMO

Controversy is nothing new, we have it every year
We will have it again next year
It is part of what keeps us talking about college football year round

1 LSU
2 Bama
3 Oklahoma State
4 Stanford
5 Va Tech
6 Houston
7 Boise State
8 Arkansas
9 Oregon
10 Oklahoma

I think Oklahoma State's awesome performance last night might be BARELY enough to get themselves in the BCS Championhip Game--and I mean barely.

Mind you, that could be a huge mistake because given that Oklahoma State has not seen a defense like LSU's defense this season and the fact the majority of the crowd at the BCS Championship Game will be LSU fans (thanks to LSU campus only 90 minutes away by road!), we could see OSU get steamrolled.

My thoughts...

  1. Heisman Badger - Some game changing plays, but suspended for drugs and inconsistent in middle of season
  2. Montee Ball - Big TD numbers and 4th in nation rushing, has to be considered
  3. Robert Griffin III - Big TD numbers and stats, has to be considered
  4. Trent Richardson - Solid stats, consistent performance, has to be considered
  5. Case Keenum - Stats inflated by competition (or lack thereof)

It was Andrew Luck's to lose and he did with inconsistent performance on big stages

Richardson may win due to overall media hype and performance in big games
Monte Ball will suffer due to same team as Wilson and not enough coverage
Keenum will be invited as a token visit
Badger should not be invited IMO

RGIII is probably the most valuable player to his team
But Richardson is the safe choice and the Heisman could use that after Bush and Newton

LSU's offense is average as shown by UGA in the first half

Their strength is in...
Special teams
Turnovers
And the ability to make you pay for your mistakes

Their defense is good enough to make up for their own mistakes
But they make you pay for yours
And they are patient (Arkansas/Georgia both got up early)
Their depth wears teams out
And they have the ability to eat your heart in the second half
Once they get momentum, your team loses its will and its soul
Their ability get on a roll and score unanswered points is unparalleled
