I think they would make it more exciting if they released several sheep onto the track

According to the BBC

Lewis Hamilton and Jenson Button admit to car worries said:
Hamilton finished fourth in last season's championship
McLaren's Lewis Hamilton and Jenson Button are concerned their new car is already lagging behind their rivals ahead of the new season on 25 March.

The MP4-12C was belatedly unveiled at second testing in Jerez, and technical issues affected Barcelona testing.

No wonder McLaren were slow at testing, they were accidentally using their road car rather than the F1 car.

Know very little about Formula 1, but thought this would spark some conversation:

Ecclestone must be Sepp Blatter's long-lost brother. Very tenuous connections with reality in both cases!

Why make the tracks slippery when you could just fit lower-traction tires to keep speeds down and make things more exciting? With that being said, wet races are always interesting.

Isn't that the point of the Pirelli's? Which the drivers dislike because they say they drop off too quickly.

I guess the main point is the similarity between the cars. Most will have the blown diffuser and pull-rod suspension [Red Bull], a few seem to actually have this year's first innovation, the forward facing exhausts [Renault]. Intrigingly, the Toro Rosso's and the William's seem quick when their main improvement is a tighter package.

I have had a crazy idea that I think the poison dwarf might like. Instead of these complicated, error prone movable wings to let cars overtake I propose Wacky Races style short cuts at every track. Each car could use the short cut up to 3 times in the race enabling a marginally faster car to clear slower cars safely and with ease.

What do you think?

But maybe that's more a question of inconsistency of performance rather than a critique of the low levels of grip? I am less up on the current tech specs though, so I'm mostly just speculating.

I think you've been playing too much Mario Kart. :D

I think he might like it, especially because he thought of it first.

Hmmmm, I think I like:D. Or maybe have a track that intersected in a figure 8 kind of thing, sort of like demolition derby style. Vettel might like that one:p. Cheers

my two fave cars o far....

Unfortunately one is Lotus Renault and the other is Lotus Renault. I'm supporting Tony and Mike.

One is a Lotus chassis with a Renault engine. The other is a Renault chassis with a Renault engine sponsored by Lotus cars. No-one calls the Ferrari a Marlboro . The same should be true of the Renault. Lotus Cars do not own any of the Renault team.

Turns out Group Lotus were being a little disingenuous when they announced the Renault tie up. Lotus actually haven't bought a stake in the team at all as of yet, so therefore it remains Renault. Group Lotus have acted appallingly in this matter. The Chapman family little better.

This would have been the best looking 2011 livery if Lotus hadn't sponsored Renault. :(

yep that would have been nice.
the really confusing part is that both cars use renault engines, too. :D

i think the jps-like liveries might be deemed illegal as it most certainly works as an ad for JPS cigarette, even it they don't want to do that and they are not getting paid for it.

didn't ferrari get busted for the barcode logo because sorta reminded of the marlboro brand? this seems much more direct.

I thought that Lotus had bought the stake? I've just Googled it and couldn't find any reference to that. I did understand that they'll be called Renault and Lotus.

PS: Next time I'm putting bigger winky faces - didn't really want to reopen this can of worms. Although I do think the Williams and the HRT cars look good too.

Nifty:

From ESPN F1

Wonder if Ferrari will only run red? ;-)

It seems a better idea than the yellow stripe for the option tyre - Brundle spent half the year explaining that to those new to the sport. I wonder if they were asked to do it this way?

On a side issue, just thinking about the Lotus Renault [black and gold] livery, I wonder if it'll get banned as plain packaging on cigarettes gets involved. Everyone who knows the old livery immediately thinks "John Player Special".

i hope not. if that happens it is further proof that "pc" has run amok in the uk.

are there "tyre" regulations again this season? i.e. you have to run a bit with each compound?
