Hmm let me think...
-Add a 3.5 floppy drive so I can copy over all those old files from years ago that I SO need (I'm sure every macrumors member down to the ones that didn't respond to the confirm email will totally agree
-Take out the touch pad to fit 20 more USB ports. I mean guise really? who uses the touch pad these days? and 20 extra USB ports is SO helpful! And if you really want one you can get the apple one seperate that uses USB like the apple magic mouse or something I'm sure EVERYONE has a use for 20 USB ports! That way I can plug in all my old useless PC accessories at the same time because thats completely necessary with! Agreed? Yeah I thought so!
-Take out the superdrive and add a 16.957 terabyte harddrive because EVERYONE needs some ridiculous amount of space for there massive porn collection? I mean why worry about 4G modems for streaming porntube when you can just have a server of it on your portable computer! Agreed? Of course you do!
-Touch screen! I mean really this won't effect iPad sales at all just because I said so! Right? Of course!

I understand the need for a Macbook "Pro" line, yet the 13" is a little bit of a joke right now in terms of pro. It didnt get the core i3 cpu and the macbook air with it's flash storage outperforms it in many tasks due to the fast IO speeds. Also the 13" macbook air has a higher res display than the 13" MBP.

What i'd like to see in the next 13" Macbook pro:

-higher res display (yank it from the new air)
-option for onboard flash storage, or hybrid HD.
-leave or take the superdrive (at least on 13")
-keep 4gb of ram standard
-limit price increase to $100

This is what I would like to see.
kill the SD card port. I have dozens of uses for SD but I dont like how the Sd card sticks out of the side of the mac. I also would prefer a 3rd usb (or firewire) on the 15" MBP.
The screen should go right up to the bezel. Nuff said.
Black anodized aluminum. I think it will look cool when the black starts to scratch and wear. Like a well used M16.
Front edge is rolled. The sharp front edge bugs me when I am doing heavy coding.
I also photoshopped in a sandy bridge CPU and hybrid storage, Oh yeah, and it supports up to 16 gigs of ram.

I like this. I dont know how I would feel about scratches on the black though.... What color do you think the keyboard would be? Silver aluminum, white, or black?

Funny, nobody said anything about how I rolled the front edge of the laptop to make typing less annoying. I suppose its not too obvious or you guys dont mind the sharp edge of the unibody design.

As it is I find the sharp edge on the front of the MBP to be slightly painful during long sessions with my mac. I seriously considered not buying a MBP for this reason alone.
Having used the unibody at work I was already familiar with the unergonomic aspect of it.
But everybody seems to care more about the color and usb ports?
Also, the screen. I want as much of the lid to be screen as possible. It looks corny to me to have a 3/4" frame around the LCD.

What is this I don't even...

By the way, three USB ports is not overkill, nor too much to ask for in a 15" $1800+ laptop.

Dripping sarcasm. 3 USB ports is fine, 4 is great. My point is theres a few eccentric people on here saying things like no optical drive....uh no...not on the flagship series.

You guys are bogging down on that silly-assed term "Pro". It's only marketing hype and by no means implies that the innards of the MBP line will follow some mystical guideline for a certain demographic of users.

The MBP's only obligation is to differentiate itself from the MacBook.

Actually, I kind of like the "rolled front edge, but tbh I hope it isn't rolled as much as your mockup. A slight rounding off of that front edge would be sufficient.
Also, with the glass front of the MBP, I would prefer that it did have some black space at the border, but maybe half as much as is currently there. Not quite edge to edge screen, but maybe quarter or three eighths inch bezel. Otherwise I think its a great mockup.

I'm not saying the MBP is a goddess compared to the MBA or the MB but if your going to market a MacBook and put "pro" in it you better not screw it up. It doesn't have to emasculate the MB but other than the aluminum body it needs to be solid.

The MBP used to be and (at a reduced level) continues to be the laptop of choice for creative professionals. I don't think anybody takes the "pro" branding too seriously anymore but given the price, pro/business grade features is not unreasonable.

I find it odd that so many people still want to carry around optical drives in their MacBooks. They take up so much valuable space and offer so little in return. Not to mention, most people will be at their desks when burning DVD's anyway, so what's wrong with using an external in the first place? And if you are the type that are burning DVD's on the go, then you wouldn't be worried about carrying around the external DVD drive because you would obviously be having to carry around hoards of blank DVD's too. Optical media is dead, digital download is taking over, and Apple have been known to kill off dying technologies a little early.

What I think are practical things to expect on the new MBP's:

- Slightly thinner form factor
- Possible removal of the optical drive
- Slightly longer battery life (if optical drive is retained)
- Significantly longer battery life (if optical drive is removed)
- Faster processors, better graphics, faster RAM
- 13" will get the high-res screen from the Air
- 15" and 17" models will come standard with their optional high-res screens
- Larger HDD on the standard units (lower end versions)
- SSD as option on all models (256, 384 and 512 possibly) I think we will see a full SSD lineup a year from now, but not yet.

I have limited internet (10gb) and it isn't the fastest. Do I want to be downloading the Adobe CS5 Suite? How about Final Cut Studio? I want the DVD Drive.

You can get an external DVD drive. You only need the drive once when installing the software. After that it will likely be useless

I havent used any dvd drive for the past 1.5 years. I converted all my dvds to .m4v files and store them on external drives, then I donated my dvd collection to friends and families.

Nobody is suggesting taking them out of all computers, or abolishing them altogether... Buy an external; use another Mac (Remote Disk).

Do you install Adobe apps EVERY SINGLE DAY?! No. But you would/could use extra battery life, more powerful graphics, more and faster storage - every time you use your computer!!

How can some people be so blind to the obvious advantages?! Beyond me.

Effin love it. A gun metal black 13" mbp would be a sexy little bitch

holy $4!T finally a descent photoshopping! And love the black as i had made my own thread on, and i would like the rolled front edge. killing the SD card im not too fond of i need it as i take lots of pictures on my camera. it would just be a hassle. unless SD cards with a USB connector becomes a little more popular but otherwise i'd keep it. i want the DVD drive to stay, and damn this thing is so damn cool! i would buy one in a heartbeat even without the SD card. i could always ebay an SD-USB card. but i don't want to be paying 1800$ and need to buy a damn DVD burner too.

lasers can't get much better than bluray unless they use ultraviolet and that could be potentially dangerous. so again, keep the dvd and apple needs to stop wining about not liking bluray as it is pretty much the limit with optical burning technology.

i finally have something to look forward too with your description. All we've had here is some small edits on a MBA. thank you and i think you just saved this thread. :D

How about people that play games? I know the Sims 3 and Civilizations both require the CD. Am I supposed to lug around an external drive if I want to take it somewhere?
