yes but do you really want to pay $1800 for a laptop that doesn't have an ODD? It's just candy for those mac haters as well you know? And you know how annoying they can be.

This I how I would LOVE for the new MBP's to look (Picture)

I just whipped this up really quick in Photoshop, I know it sucks, no need to tell me.
I just added the Black Aluminum for a tinge of nostalgia hahaha,
Damn, I wish they hadn't discontinued those....
What do you think?

Express slot? Not something I would want. Happy they switched it for the SD slot. And for me, I would rather they get rid of the glass sheet infront of the screen =/

I think the current chassis is sublime. It`s as close to perfection as I have seen.

If they can smooth edges, lighten it a bit, that would be good enough for me.

My preference would be to use the existing space for more powerful components and better cooling.

I like the glass screen, it doesnt scratch like the plastic ones do!
The SD slot is lame. You can buy an SD card adapter for $5, there is no such thing as an expresscard adapter. They threw away the ability to hook up pro level stuff with that.

doberman211: that's what I said! then everyone yells at me for wanting to keep the damn Cd/DVD drive. go buy the AIR, im sure they'll boost the specs eventually to your likings, all you want is an unrealistic computer with a 3GHz core processor with a 1TB SSD and have it under half an inch. good luck there, bud.

And honestly, i can Gimp a better laptop design myself. all you people are doing is stealing an Air picture off the internet, changing the color of the bezel and cropping out the "Air" and replacing it with "Pro" at the bottom. fantastic job, you're a real professional. and where would you fit good speakers on that thing?"

@ doberman211: If you were a "real professional" as you call it, and not just a fumbling plethora of imbecility, nowhere within the realm of competence, who shoots down peoples thoughts in an OPINION thread with the same 4-5 words as a sad excuse for argument, you'd realize that all you have to do is find a picture of a MacBook Pro, crop the top half, and Paste it over the monitor half of a MacBook Air photo taken from the same perspective, not all that senseless garble you just spit out.

@venomz

Haha, no offense, but that's literally the most vague comment I've seen on this whole forum.

you care about audio quality and you're using a macbook pro to listen to your music? there's your real problem.

What is the sound quality of a Macbook Pro with say headphones generally like? I imagine it would beat all the other laptops sonys etc..

also does the MacOS have cheesy sound options like Surround and all these cheap bass boosts thingies like in Windows? (not a fan of them) just want original source pure audio

sorry for noob question (still new to macs and might be getting a MBP)

cheers

With headphones the Mac is gonna sound like anything else. I was merely talking about the Macbook speakers and that if you're listening to a CD, you might as well use a CD player with an optimal set up.

OMG Rly? That's a month's old argument and none of the original ppl from it are here. Just stay on topic. all i was trying to state is that apple already has a line of ultrathin notebooks and the "pro" lineup should stay about performance.

You don't need to bring it up with above average grammar because if i wanted to speek like a nerd here i would.

anyway enough with the troll, That mocup is what i would like to see. black, not too much thinner, i suspect lighter, but in reality, that's a 2012 idea. switch pci for SD and firewire for usb3.0 and its pretty friggin awesome.

Ok so I took all the macro shots from the macbook pro section of the apple website, and photoshopped them to what I think (and secretly really hope) the new MBP's might look like.

What do you guys think?

Ok, no offense, but when did speaking properly and being linguistic become associated with being a nerd?

But yeah, I'm more than willing to stop trolling, hahaha :D
Thanks, though, that's exactly what I'd like to see for this year, and its well within the realm of possibilty. They could do this, and do it phenomenally (as they always do.)
and I'm sure they're planning something like it.
As for the SD/PCI debate, many people still use expresscards, and you could always get an SD USB Dongle for literally $2-$3 on Amazon. There's no PCI adapters, anywhere. So I say, keep the PCI Slot.

Anyway, hahaha, I did a few more mockups above, What do you think?

Those look awesome, nice job! If that is what the new models look like, then I'd definitely pay extra for the black finish.

i don't see any ROXIO software on a USB stick, or NORTON, or games, or any other company besides apple you can think of!

Sorry... I just had to post that :p I dont think you can even get it easily any more, but netbooks have made companies think of other forms of media distribution.

Anyways...back on topic... I like the screen going right to the edge of the bevel, but personally prefer the current colour... can we see some non black mock ups?

Best one yet. Only change i'd make is a rounded front.

Some people said about MBPs going like Ipads, all touch screen... Look what acer have done... (This is not a mock up it is the ACER Iconia 484G64N)

Haha thanks, im glad you like it! I'm hoping that they do, I'd pay plus for the black finish, and definitely pick one up launch day for SURE.

Haha thanks, i'm glad you liked it. You mean rounded edges on the palm rest area and the rest of it?

usb 3.0 is not a stand in for 1394. usb 3.0 is not a video standard, I work at a TV station and we have 1394 on almost every piece of gear. Not that we use if much, but its good to have an alternate form of transfer. Also, Target disk mode? Not by USB 3.0 without a major efi update.

OMG!!! Awesome! I would go out and buy one like right now if I could. I like the white on black contrast for the keyboard as well. Though the battery indicator lights should be a little smaller but still it is a really great mock-up. Probably one of the best I've seen so far. This is simply an idea, but perhaps the keys are phosphorescent so they do not need the backlit keyboard anymore saving more space? That would bee cool.

Just an idea but another alternative to SD is an SD USB http://www.dpreview.com/news/0501/05010606sandisksdflip.asp. It would be cool if my local bestbuy carried these...

EDIT: Call it the BlackBook Pro

Just for the wrist wrest so your wrists aren't attacked and dug into.

At this point, I'm beyond caring about an Optical Drive. If it has it as an option, I'll get it, if not, it's no biggie, I'll just pickup an external. But what I really want is a good graphics card with 1gig of memory for it. This 256mb is way behind the times and Apple knows it, even the half gig in the current 17 inches is weak. The Macbook Pro is supposed to be a high end, professional laptop and is priced as such. They need to get on par with every other performance laptop and put in dedicated graphics with 1 gig of memory.
