I think he ate enough crow for a while after my boys swept his flyers out of the stanley cup playoffs :D

Well the bold part kind of goes out the window considering Pete Rose is the all time hits leader...

Who was the first?

How does betting on baseball as a manager mar his hitting accomplishments? Unless you're insinuating that Pete Rose used some type of PED to get more hits.

And I believe Craig Biggio went 5-5 in the game he got his 3000th?

It was enough to keep the all time hits leader out of the hall of fame. That should tell you something.

All it tells me is that the punishment for betting on baseball is a lifetime ban, which is what is keeping him out of the hall. I just don't think you can compare betting with cheating. Do you think Sammy Sosa hits 600 home runs without help? Or Barry Bonds (who was already a Hall of Fame player, but no crazy home run hitter)? Or McGwire (I know he's not on that list, but just the same)? Pete Rose gets over 4k hits betting on baseball or not.

I agree. And I think the fact that Rose isn't in the hall is pretty ridiculous at this point. In fact, I feel like guys like Bonds, Sosa, McGwire, and Clemens should be banned from the hall too.

I just think comparing 600HR to 3000 hits based on that is an awkward comparison.

Even as a Sox fan (and just a sports fan really), it was pretty cool to watch Jeter today. 3000 hits is a crazy achievement, and to get #3000 as a home run, and go 5-5 with the winning RBI is pretty awesome.

I think it's ridiculous also. He should be in. Period. And we'll see what happens with Bonds and Clemens in a few years. I don't think they'll make it anytime soon. It's a shame, because I think their body of work without (and at this point who know's what was and what wasn't) the drugs would have been good enough. But they have nobody to blame but themselves. Sosa and McGwire will be buying tickets like the rest of us. No chance for them.

Can the espn guys get the noses any farther up adrian gonzo's ***?
It really is a horrible production this year. Mics opened all over the place, nobody knowing whats going on. Take away their scripts and they are clueless.

This Derby for the most part sucked. Cano did put on a show but the problem was he was just about the only one.

I'm not a Yankee hater(only during the WS:p) but why isn't Jeter there?

The reason he gave was he needed time off from the 3,000 chase.

I don't have a problem with injured older players wanting time off to heal.

If baseball really wanted this game to count they would start the best players in the league and have them play 5 innings. Not make it a popularity contest to pick the starters.
