The first ones have been delivered as stated in earlier messages. None of these had Lion, so THAT cannot be the reason for our delays. As some people already mused: chances are that we will never know what caused the delay.

27's have been delivered? I thought I was up to date on all the messages - I guess I missed a few.

I've order a 27 inch iMac, i7, 16 GB Ram, 2TB + SSD and 2GB of VRAM. I'm still waiting with you, guys. 8th of July...

4. Apple fixes Lion and delivery of our iMacs has to wait until then.

Could the delay really have something to do with the wait for Lion?

If that’s the case, why wouldn’t they ship all the SSD iMacs as soon as Lion is released? What I mean is, those who ordered on launch day will get delivery in mid june (according to the spreadsheet). So if the delay had to do with Lion, it would suggest Lion is ready by mid june.

But the folks ordering today get their iMac in 6 weeks... why not in mid june if it just had to do with Lion?

Also, apple.com currently says the “included software” is Mac OS X Snow Leopard.

It has definitely nothing to do with Lion.
Why on earth would they delay JUST the 27 iMac with SSD option for Lion?
Also Apple still working on 10.6.8 ;) Maybe that's what we have to wait for!

Back on page one of the thread. it's locked so follow the instructions if you're entering or changing your info :)

Thanks. Tried the link at the beginning of the thread, which had an apology for no longer working, the google link opens with a similar apology and no data.
I used the link a week ago and it had details in the fields. What am I missing?

There should be tabs along the bottom (or top - depending what you're viewing on) which say:

New Orders/Updated Orders 2011 iMac SSD Shipment Tracker

If you want to add info then click on 'New Orders/Updated Orders"

If you want to just look at the spreadsheet then choose the locked "2011 iMac Shipment Tracker"

I've just checked myself and it's all working ok. Here's the link again:

https://spreadsheets.google.com/spr...qY0NUUE9EaUE&hl=en_US&authkey=CMWE_KoI#gid=11

Lead times for 21.5" models has gone from 2-4 days to 3-5 days. 27" still holding firm at 4 to 6 weeks.

-----

Also, a lot of people are using a bookmarked link. I changed the auth code a while back, so the old link doesn't work anymore. I know this, because I've received about 40-50 emails to "share" the sheet. The link in the first post of the thread works. Always has.

The sheet has always worked aside from maybe... a 4 hour period a week or so ago where I locked it (no edits allowed) for the day. The sheet has never been completely unavailable for more than 5 minutes. There's no magic here, just the issue of making something editable to anonymous users and then policing it for trolls. It's been increasingly locked down as time goes on.

Right now there are human beings who move data from the "New/Updated Orders" to the main sheet. This is to limit the damage trolls can do. It's annoying, but people being dicks make things a pain in the ass.

Thanks for that. Simple when you know how. Thanks again.

Thanks for the effort you've put in this thread and the sheet. This thread has taken an unsual amount of work to keep rolling.

BTW, My order was switched from one manufacturing plant to another. I got a reply from customer service.

They got the delivery date pushed back to the original (well, delayed by a day). Glad that I didn't have to wait ten week. Four to six is enough already.

I would be surprised by that. As some people already mused: chances are that we will never know what caused the delay.

Of course there will be no official statement. But I expect two different scenarios at the end:

Alternative A: Shipment follows the delivery dates given by Apple. The delivery time in the Apple Store will step down gradually and after one month or so you can get the 27" iMac with SSD in 24 hours.

Alternative B: All ordered iMac are delivered in about the same week; Delivery time in the Apple Store jumps from 6 weeks to 24 hours.

Alternative B will be a strong hint that supports my theory. What do you think?

If Alternative B (that Lion OS is needed for the 27 SSD), wouldn't it also hold true that they would start rolling out shortly after WWDC? But then that also fits with the original ship dates. I guess it will depend on what happens with the July order estimates.

or we get free light sabers with our new imacs... :)

i'm sure we'll have some sort of answer by end of week next week. otherwise they'll have to say something official because they'll start missing promised ship dates after that.

Executive Relations phoned again this morning to confirm that everything is definitely prepared to ship on June, 15 - original ship date. Said she will be checking again on June 6, 8 & 10th! Doesn't sound like much chance of an early release - but you never know with :apple:

At least I can be sure it's coming then (but still secretly hoping before)

call with apple

spoke to an apple representative today to inquire about the status of my 27" imac / ssd order. he told me that the delay is related to firmware issues with the ssds. not sure how reliable this info is but thought i should share it anyway.
am gettin really getting impatient, sold my 2007 imac last week and it just does not feel right without an imac :D have you guys considered having a non-apple ssd installed? a local apple reseller would fit a third party ssd for 195 eur. is the price appropriate and do you see any disadvantages in going this route?

i knew that it was going to take 4 to 6 wks when i ordered - it said it up in the corner of the order.

so i'm not sweating. my buddies work for apple so i know they run into this now and then. i won't panic until they start missing shipment dates. then will decide if i want to cancel or not.

prefer to have apple install theirs - that way they get to support it.

+1. I don't understand why some folks are upset (or even surprised) that their iMac w/ SSD hasn't shipped yet given the fact that we're still two weeks out from the original scheduled ship date.
