Looks like Johnny Football just won the Heisman. As long as he has a decent game and A&M beats Missouri next week, it's hard to imagine anyone else seriously challenging him for it after tonight's games.

The Big-12 and Pac-12 have probably had tougher schedules this year.

Eh, the only real decent indicator is the BCS bowls. Many of the bowls have to select a bowl eligible team from a conference. So you end up with teams like Minnesota playing South Carolina.

Go take a look at the bowl projections on ESPN

Completely disagree on both counts. The true test of a conference's strength isn't how good the top is and how bad the bottom is, it's how good the middle is. So all those "little" bowls with the 7-, 8- and 9-win teams tell us a lot about how good a conference is. BCS bowls just tell us which conferences have the best cream.

Not if they aren't actually playing good teams from the middle or at the top.

As of today, it looks like 3 teams control their destiny:
Notre Dame, 'Bama and the Dawgs

But that could quickly change with 3 fierce rivalry games
Gotta play to the end

How would all the haters feel if the season ended today with a 4 team playoff
SEC would be the ONLY conference represented
3 SEC teams, Bama, Dawgs, Florida and Notre Dame
Pac 12 shut out
BIG shut out
Big 12 shut out
ACC shut out
Big East shut out

Eight team playoff?
Throw in A&M and LSU from the SEC as well

It's more about timing. In any real ranking Oregon and KState would be placed ahead of South Carolina and Florida. Ohio State probably too.

Also, keep in mind Oregon lost to the Stanford, the same Stanford that lost to Notre Dame (who is undefeated #1) in overtime (even though they technically scored that touchdown, bad call).

...and people still want to question SEC's dominance? :D I can't wait for the SEC title game, 'Bama/Georgia should be a very good one!

I just watched the end of the 4th quarter and the overtime of the Oregon-Stanford game on YouTube. Wow. Oregon's field goal attempt bounces off the upright and later Stanford recovers a fumble that Oregon should have had.

Doesn't look like the Pac-12 or Big 12 have a top. Just a bunch of mediocre middle.

Kansas State got hammered by a crappy Baylor team with the worst defense in college football, in a half-full stadium. They are not a Top 10 team in a "real" ranking. Oregon is still damned good, though. Stanford is just a little better this year. And yes, they got ****ed by the refs against ND. Ohio State hasn't played anyone, and won't because of bowl ineligibility.

AP Top 5:

Notre Dame
Alabama
Georgia
Ohio State
Oregon

Kick Georgia out when they lose to Alabama and put K state at #5 and it doesn't look so dominant.

If there was a playoff system (4 or 8-team), the SEC would still have the majority playing for a championship. Let's just see what happens with the BCS rankings, though I don't think it'll differ that much from the AP poll.

Pac -12 Stanford, UCLA, Oregon State, Oregon

Big 12 - Texas, Kansas State, Oklahoma

And you don't think that's a fluke?

Ok

Meh, The Big Ten is terrible this year, but I'm pretty sure they could hang with anybody in the country.

Top 8 would be 4 SEC teams. Florida is a pretender.

If we're going off the AP poll. (Which includes ineligible Ohio State, which I think needs to be included)

Pac -12 Stanford, UCLA, Oregon State, Oregon

Big 12 - Texas, Kansas State, Oklahoma

Hahahahaha. Oregon, yes. Stanford, sure. The rest? I don't think so. Besides that, your argument has always been that the SEC is overrated because they don't play anyone out of conference. Who have any of these teams beaten?

And you don't think that's a fluke?

They gave up 52 and only scored 24. Against Baylor. With as many (if not more) K-State fans in the stands as Baylor fans. Fluke or not, it's a sign that they are not a top team. You can't get blown off the field by a terrible team and be considered even "good". Nowhere close, in fact.

We'll never get to find out, but the fact that they continually squeak over bad/mediocre teams doesn't bode well.

Meh

LOL @ Top 4 in the BCS. Assuming the SEC continues to be dominant/"favoured", how exactly does a playoff change things?

BCS Standings:
1. Notre Dame
2. Alabama
3. Georgia
4. Florida

People would still be crying with 3 out of 4 teams from the SEC with a greater chance of being an all SEC BCS title game. While a playoff does allow other teams to fight it out, if things remain the same, the SEC will continue to have more teams playing for a national title.

Not really a big deal

OSU should be ahead of UGA and UF. Oregon should really be ahead of UF - and will if they can win and get into the Pac 12 championship.

Oregon can't go to the Pac-12 championship since they lost to Stanford.

Florida State hopefully beats Florida, then Georgia loses and it's:

1 notre dame
2 alabama
3 oregon
4 lsu
5 kstate
6 stanford

hell, Florida state might be able to jump into the top 5

If Stanford loses and Oregon wins (which isn't a huge stretch, but still a stretch), Oregon goes on to the Pac-12 Championship. Oregon will then be aided a bit in the computers and perception (making and potentially winning the Pac-12). That will be more than enough to jump to #3 or potentially #2 if 'Bama gets knocked off again.

Sec

One must remember why the SEC and the big 12 no longer play in the Orange bowl Bear was the one who decided not to continue that setup nothing would be nicer than a 4 game non confrence schedule between SEC and Big 12 bulldogs are big but take em water and a racoon will drown em. The Tide will roll the next two weeks and will be big USC fans the next three weeks. All the Trojans need to do is...

  1. Beat UCLA this week to clinch the Pac-12 South
  2. Beat ND at home in two weeks
  3. Find a way to outscore Oregon in the Pac-12 Championship Game in three weeks

...and all the Bammers will be jumping for joy. Then all the Tide have to do is beat a very capable Georgia team the next night in Atlanta and they're back on their way to the BCSCG.

Easy enough, right?

Almost.. But we will take a KC loss, a Oregon loss and well all we need now is for SC to beat ND! :)

Roll Tide

.

It is pure fluke. If it was one of the big schools that wins all the times it would be forgiven but since it is not OU or UT not forgiven at all.

They are still a top team but from what I can tell you pretty much are down on anything that is not the conference you are in.

I say same issue I had with the BCS championship last year. If you are not your conference champion you are not allowed to play for the title simple as that.

That hasn't been my argument at all

So your argument that the SEC isn't any good this year is based on what, then?

Same can be said for Georgia, South Carolina

Except for the fact that South Carolina was (and remains) a Top 10 team that will finish the regular season no worse than 9-3 despite losing their best player to season-ending injury.

Baylor isn't even bowl eligible and has the absolute worst defense in football. Or, after pummeling K-State, now the second worst.

I'm down on anyone who gets obliterated by a 5-5 team with (one of) the worst defense(s) in football. Beating a team by four TDs is not a fluke.

Looks like Maryland may be heading to the Big Ten, which means Rutgers is next. Their board approved it.

Watching the teams play, watching how they play in conference.

They are # 12.

Watch and see how they play against Clemson. And they lost their best player when again?

College football. Anything can happen. This isn't NCAA 2013 where heaving a 95 rated player means they always play at that level.

Lol ok bud.
