There were significant blips with the iPhone release. It may be the iPad causing all this.

Voice of reason. I agree. We have seen supply chain dry up before. many times in the past 7-8 months.

I am also hearing done deal and even people getting irate on spec which is supposedly all over the interweb. Like we have seen so many times before only to be given a different set-up by Apple. at this stage I dont really care about form factor or even CPU. Just give me SSD, USB3 and better GPU. But I suggest some people rein in their expectations people because I can see a lot of 'entitlement' coming up on 23rd Oct

Pretty unlikely, if one counts on what cswimbound was telling us...

Well I don't take what apple store employees say very serious. I've heard everything from its not coming this year to its coming next week multiple times since summer.

Anyway I too doubt they will release it today, since there's an event next week. I sincerely hope though it will come out in 2012, so I can deduct I on this years accounting.

But I guess chances for a 2012 is quite real now, looking at stock, supplies and delivery dates.

I read that its going to be a 'teardrop' design..

do you think it will take design cues from MBA or MBP Retina?

I just ordered a rMBP but it won't be here until next week. I totally forgot about the iMac. Hopefully it's out before my return period is over so I'll have options. :)

Well in germany if I order any standard iMac configuration (21 or 27) it delivers at home next day (tomorrow). But if I do a cpu upgrade on 27 it gives 31 Oct, 2012 - 05 Nov dispatch time instead of normal maybe 2-3 days. So I think something is really happening and it will not take too much more now :)

Yep, they are going to hold an event next week, presenting rMBP 13" and Mac mini (more or less likely). Why would they announce new iMacs today?

I'm still not sure about next week. We have read articles, stating that they will be unveiled on "a tuesday" and/or "this or next month"; sounds very unspecific, whereas MBP and Mac mini were "confirmed".

I really hope for the 23rd, however, a later announcement is within the bounds of possibility, unless there's no "confirmation" from any rumor site.

Goodmornind everyone and congratulations to all of us. We reached page 100 and we are not yet sure of the 23rd event and the new imac of course. Lets hope that this will end today...

Yea, he has 63 followers and sells luxury goods. Besides, The invites go out electronically at around 17.00 (GMT)

100 pages on this thread. Are you watching Apple? Lots of pent up demand for an iMac

I'm sure they've gone through this thread at some point had to have.

I'm not sure if this has been posted but following that original post on weiphone:

The poster also noted that the display has been completely redesigned, which could mean the new iMac has a Retina Display. The poster said the display is a “very pretty special glass glued directly” to the computer, rather than a display manufactured separately from the machine, but the poster did not mention the words “Retina” in his post.

“My uncle has seen the fully assembled iMac but recently unable to take a picture of it,” the WeiPhone user wrote in a separate post. “If he did take the picture, I will update this thread.”

In that separate posting, the WeiPhone user claims that Foxconn, which he said was Apple’s sole supplier capable of keeping up with the demand, is still having issues building the new iMac.

“The new iMac is using a special ‘glue’ to glue the display to the frame and is facing very strict quality control,” the poster said. “Products from Foxconn is having a lot of issues. In this case, after the glue dried, there will be minor air gaps.”

I can feel it its almost here guys, this air gaps thing does sound kind of scary though. :D:mad:

I've been watching this thread for a while now, I'm without an iMac but desperate to get one so I'm waiting (patiently I think although I'm sure my wife will disagree!).

I went into the Apple store in the Trafford Center in the UK on saturday and asked about the situation (foolish I know). The response was (whilst not making eye contact and the most appauling body language going)

"I don't know what you're talking about"
"Well what's your stock like?"
"Really good, it always is for iMac"
"Can I take a 27" today then please?"
"No, we don't have any in stock"
"Can you get me one in?"
"Yeah, will be more than a week though"

Read into it what you will folks!

The previous weekend I'd already been into PC World and Comet, neither of which had any stock or could see another shipment due in on their system of either size iMac. There were only display models left.

It is coming, next week though? Let's wait to see what the invitations have to say...

I think there's no point tracking shop stock any more. It's currently reached a point of unacceptable availability over a long period. So, if the iMacs won't get released in the next 1-4 weeks something has gone seriously wrong along the way.....which I doubt. Apple has more control than that.
