Stocks at the biggest UK resellers are insanely low.

Comet - all iMacs out of stock except the base model.

Currys & PC World - zero warehouse stock, only in-store. I checked 9 London stores, NONE had even a base model available.

Comet has had patchy stock for months BUT Currys & PC World have both had solid stock levels. The fact that all three are now pretty much out of stock is, in my opinion, the most significant thing I've seen all year.

I was about to snap and buy a 2011 but after that, I'm going to wait a couple of weeks and see :)

I've just looked on the pc world website and the 4 variants of imac they sell are all available for collect in store in 1 hour.

I saved $600 buying a refurbished 2011 model, so...

There you go. 600 bucks off for basically a brand new computer with that Hardware is a great price I reckon. Wish we had a apple refurb store in Japan with those types of discounts. I have to wait until the new machine comes out for the electronic shops to discount their old stock.

I wonder how iMac sales are in general these days. I'd think that the "average consumer" (who doesn't read MacRumors or other similar sites) might not even be aware that the iMac is long overdue for an update, but maybe not. If resellers think that sales are sluggish because many people are waiting for a new iMac, they'd purposely avoid keeping the current models in inventory.

Definitely. I still see people happily walking out of Apple stores carrying an iMac, blissfully unaware of what they've actually bought.

Has there ever been an Update during times of Zero interest financing for Macs/ipads for business clients?[omg, my english sucks, did you understand what I mean?]
I'm asking cause in Germany we've actually got such an offer limited to oct.26th.
http://store.apple.com/de-business/browse/campaigns/macleasing/?pid=4017&cid=DE-FIN-4-017

And it seems quite weird to me when you are purchasing Macs for your Business, One Day you can get the 2011 Macs and the next Day it's the 2012 for the Same special conditions.
What about other countries? Are there similar offers?
Germany is MS-Country, we Love the iPhone, but most of us are too stupid to appreciate the benefits of OSX. So it all can mean that AppleGermany is trying to get rid of the Last 2011 iMacs before the New ones arrive.
Or am I just reaching for the Last straw...?

Yea Netherlands have same thing in year 2011 they had service called

IPaylater 18 = you had 18month to pay out your Apple product without any inters or rent. So you loan 3000EUR and you pay that back in 18month without any rent.

In 2012 they made same structure of financing but now it’s called
IPaylater 12 = same as above but in 12month you need to pay money back without inters.

For people who expect refresh...I had yesterday interesting phone calls with about 20 different resellers of Apple products (In Netherlands) and each of them told me same story. Apple doesn’t allow them to restock iMac 27" for me this was strange so then i called actual Apple store in Amsterdam and they told me that they have on stock 27" and it will take them 2-3days to ship....Then i asked them why every reseller in NL told me that they cannot restock iMac 27"model and he responded that this is strange and he doesn’t know why.

Thing is one of reseller my brother in law worked there and he told me when this happened it is 99.99% update or refresh coming and that’s why resellers are not allowed to take old stock...He also told me that in October is month for this and that spec bump will be silent...

I am now in worst decision to make because tonight i am actually selling my old iMac :) so if they don’t refresh in October I will go mental.

I sure hope they will...

There's a difference between "not as often" and once every 2 year.

Though Apple moving to a release schedule based on Intel's "ticks" - especially if Intel can provide them with said product at launch - might not be a bad thing.

I would expect the majority of Mac users do not upgrade annually, so by launching a new product with a new micro-architecture and all the benefits it brings would give Apple more bullet points to highlight.

Same here in Norway, Europe. All the iMac are sold out and restock is set do order only or to 12th Oct. I think this is the best sign that something is happening. There are 3 scenarios:
1. Production trouble with the current model (not very likely)
2. A new iMac is comming (very likely)
3. iMac is discountinued (not likely)

Most likely true however what about the users who are ready to switch on the tock cycle? They would be buying much older product.

It would be best if they launched products every year and do speed bumps every other year.

If that's the case, then Apple needs to reduce the prices at some point, say after a year, because selling 2011 hardware at these price levels is like having a bit of a laugh.

Anyone that says that it's just gonna be spec bump I ultimately don't believe on the rest of wht they say. IT'S NOT GONNA BE JUST A SPEC BUMP!!!! It's clearly something more every rumors says new design and "screen lamination issue" that just gave it away, if it was gonna be just spec bump they would have done it by now. When people just say its gonna be spec bump just make me feel like you don't know what you're talking about because you have obviously haven't been ready the rumors. Now sorry about the rant  it's just people keep saying weird things here

Please help me, especially if you do a lot of work in CS5/6 yourself. I am really scared that the new ones will be incredibly much faster... And also, feel free to use Caps Lock while dissecting my grammar.

I've got a spring 2008 iMac with 4GB ram. It's also the cheapest 24" they had at the time. I run CS6 every day on it in Mountain Lion, and while it's a little slow on some things, it's not quite unusable.

That said, I'm definitely waiting for a new model. I am not willing to spend money, especially full price, on a model that's a year and a half old.

LOL. Talk about damning with faint praise. I know what you mean, though. My 2009 iMac is fine for what I'm doing at this moment, and a faster computer won't help me think of what to write when I'm stuck for words. But there are more and more times these days when I'm waiting for the Mac to do something instead of the other way around.

*slow clap*

All that means is that somewhere in the country, there is at least one of each model available. It does not mean every store had full stock

I checked 9 London stores and couldn't find even a base model.

That is unless Apple has lost interest in the imac altogether.
