Amazon out of stock on all iMacs except low end 27" and only 7 of those. Prices are cut, too. Coming soon!

I've been watching that too. Now it's showing "1 to 2 months" which translates to "don't order anything - something else is on its way" in my mind. It's coming - and Amazon knows it.

I think they are losing customers over it.

The few customers they they lose over the iMac delay doesn't matter when they are gaining thousands of new iDevice customers every day. Like I have said before Apple could drop the Mac line tomorrow and still be a wildly profitable and rapidly growing corporation. Now I don't predict that is going to happen, but I do predict that investment dollars will be shifted more and more to mobile devices and the Mac line will see less and less innovation as time goes on. That's just how it works with a company focused on the post PC market.

This website seems to think an update could happen pretty soon. i hope.

I hope they are right, though I find it hard to believe this tuesday will get new iMacs. I´m guessing Apple is dead busy getting all the new pods and phones up in stores and adding the iMac to that would make it very busy for them - in addition the back to school program ends next week, seems unlikely to ditch out the new imac just before it ends. But as always I hope all optimistic rumors are right. It seems like far fetched sources they have though.

The only people making money from these rumors are the owners of this website. Really? "sources tell me amazon.com is low on macs?". Sources??? How about the blog owner read this forum and saw someone's post.

Mac rumors has had "update soon" on iMacs fr a year. The only company people should be angry with is shady websites looking for click throughs. Not apple. Apple has moved to a 2 year refresh cycle for macs and Mac pros. But Mac rumors doesn't want to tell you that.

That they demonstrated anything at all happening on a Mac (new iTunes) is somewhat remarkable.

You are so much true about this! It's sign that Apple care about desktop computers. They could did it on macbook + thunderbolt, but they prefered to do it on iMac. On they best All-In-One Computer! Hooorraay!

"Our source did not have any information on the specific details of the updated iMacs only that Amazon and many other retailers are experiencing very low stock levels as they anticipate an updated model very soon."

For what little information "their source" provided - their source could have been me - and I don't know anything. Sources are only worth quoting when they provide non-obvious/public information.

Yes it's says according to my source, umm I could just go look at amazon.com and see that they are indeed running low. Lol "my sources" that article is so vague.

The silence is unbearable. Where are Gruber & Dalrymple ?

Wait, I have to go, an iPhone sneezed somewhere.

Glad I got mine after the WWDC ;)

More than happy with my refurbished base 27" with Crucial M4 512GB and 16GB RAM for just over £1500

I don't know much about Apple Heist so I'm going to ask how reliable are they as a rumor site?

If they are reliable or not, doesn't really matter in this case. If you go to Amazons US homepage, you see that they are sold out on all mac models, and none of them are expected to arrive any time soon.

The co.uk page is also starting to go into that category. You don't really need "inside" information to see this. Its right there.

Their guessing, is probably not much better than yours/mine or anyone else here (except for one dirty*****)

Its peculiar, but no rumor site seem to be doing any digging around in this.

On apples homepage all models are available in almost all the stores. One store is showing sept. 24 as available for a low end 27 inch, which is weird, but that's it.

Personally I think the shortages on Apples website a few days/weeks ago were due to shortages in supplies. Now they are probably limiting shipping to 3rd party resellers and keeping it all within Apple, which would explain how they suddenly restocked everything.

You'll be even gladder when it turns out, the only change they did was like the Mac pro, with 2 new steppings of the same processors :p

My husband works at Amazon as a software developer. He told me that Amazon does not decide whether to add stock or not. If the stock is low, then it is because Apple has not supplied them with any more iMacs. :D

I was told the same thing by an employee of an Italian store chain. I asked about iMac availability, and he said that they do have a few in stock, but it's Apple who decides when to ship more so when they run out there's no way for them to order more or even know when it will be restocked.

Could you ask your husband (if he's at liberty of discussing this) whether "only 1 in stock" ACTUALLY means only 1 in stock? Because I've seen that warning on all iMacs on amazon.it for months, and I can't believe nobody ever bought an iMac from them or that apple ships iMac to Amazon Italy one by one!

ALot of sell outs on apple store pickup once more!

highend 21 inch and lowend 27 are once more sold out in many of New York stores with availability saying "19th sept".

WHAT DOES THIS MEAN ?

Prolly nothing, but I feel like Batman in that dungeon pit. I need hope.

quick question:

whenever apple released a silent update of the iMac, did they have it on the front page or just a "new" label in the store?

Anyone really believing it will be tomorrow?

No, the timing would be bad. Back to school ends on Sept 21st. Everyone will be camping out at the Apple Stores on the 21st for the iPhone. They couldn't handle another group of people camping out to get the new iMac.

But, I expect it to be real soon after that. There is going to be a lot of people coming into the stores to see the new iPhone. It would be a perfect time for Apple to display the all new Mac line up.

I doubt anyone will be camped out for an iMac. When they released the aluminum 2007 model (a significant redesign) I got it the day it was announced/released and they had plenty in stock. Granted this was 2007, but back then the Mac still got most of the lime light.
