I agree about the redesign. I think the current model is perfect (form-factor). That thing looks amazing, and I don't want it to change.

It can't be perfect if the keyboard and mouse aren't of the same colour theme. Also, they need to solve the dust (getting behind the glass) problem.

Patience is not one of my virtues and I've been eyeing my wife's 2010 IMac with envy since she got it last year. I've been following these forums daily, several times a day in fact, and I'm at breaking point.

I've put a spec'd out 27" IMac current model in my Apple shopping cart - 3.4 GHz, 16GB RAM, upgraded HD and graphics card - the works.

My advice is to buy the refurbished 27" 3.4GHz i7 with the SSD for $2289. That is what I did and would have saved 15% over new, except they sent me a unit with 8GB (instead of 4) and 2GB of VRAM (instead of 1) so in the end, I saved 20% over new. :)

Seeing all the rumours on this site and 9to5Mac it looks like the iPad mini is the next Apple release and I cannot honestly see the new iMacs coming out before that.

Therefore we're looking at it being at least a month away and possibly pushing into next year. I get every bit more doubtful every iPad Mini rumour surfaces without a single iMac one.

i know and thats why i believe will see the imacs in the ipad mini event, because i could not believe that they would make a whole entire event one product even if its a new one, it is still an ipad so its not like a whole new line of products, kuo also predicted that ipad mini and the 27inch imac will be released at the same time. they said that there was low yield results on the 27 inch imac, i believe apple waited for the 27 inch imac to have a better yield and release them both at the same time (21& 27 inch ). while im getting doubts too i still think that we still have a chance. Apple is doing something new with the imacs therefore the could easily showcase them at an event, if you look closely at the past events we never gotten any leak parts regarding the imacs it is extremely hard to leak parts due to the imac sizes we usually get spec sheets and product numbers the day before, so i dont expect anything else. The ipad mini on the other hand the parts are small and easy to pocket or take a picture of, it is also an ios device and itd get more coverage than an imac.

Hey I got a question for you guys. If I buy a refurbished 2011 imac, does the 30 day return policy still apply? Meaning, will I be able to swap it out for a 2012 if it comes out within the next month?

This is my first ever post on any Mac forum ever!! yayy.
I have always used Windows and for the first time moving on to mac and it's not because I never wanted a mac, it's because for the first time I have money to buy one.
After looking around in store I have bought a iMac 27" 3.1ghz. (in UK) at the point of sale I got told that they don't have any model in stock but they will soon and I without being aware of this whole stock shortage issue, said yeah that's fine I can wait for couple of weeks.

It's only been three days since I ordered mine but now I am confused.
a. When the hell they will have stock? At the moment they are not even giving me wage delivery date. All they keep saying is, we will let you know when we know!!!!

b. Should I cancel the order and wait for new model? My current pc is going down big time so i need replacement really fast (imagine enhancing 200 images on a slow and constantly crashing PC!!)

Apple might make reliable computers but as company?? not so sure any more!

For someone new to mac world, not the best start unfortunately!!

Borderlands 2 is the greatest, most humorous, most addicting game I've played in years. If you value your job... and life in general... stay far, far away from it bro.

Don't know if that would be possible, because I already lost everything from playing the first one, so what else is there to possibly lose lol?

They will probably never have stock. If you need it *immediately*, you'll need to order from Apple's own online store. If you can wait a couple weeks, we fully expect the new model to be arriving soon.

I have just spoken on the phone to the retailer where I ordered my imac. They said I can cancel it within 28 days of order being dispatched. Which mean, I will wait till they have stock and if new one gets released I will order it. I would by it from Apple store but they will not be able to give me £300 discount!!! :D

Ha!

Just like with the iPhone.. if people are waiting for Apple to make their coffee and do their dishes, they've got a long wait. ;-)

There's no "killer feature" coming anytime soon. The next updates are evolutionary, not revolutionary.

Are you sure? After the long waiting time it could be more than that what you have written. But I'm not an expert.., I keep my fingers crossed.

It will be a beautiful, well executed computer. It will still be a computer. It might have a facelift. It will not cure cancer.

Nice of Apple to totally take a dump on the very people that have kept them alive for several years. They must have everyone working on some iOS project these days, be it software or hardware. Heck, they don't even bother updating or enhancing iWork or iLife on the desktop anymore - other providing iOS capaitability.

In the UK your statutory rights to do with distance selling regulations protect you against such retailers. Besides, their inability to fulfil their part of the bargain probably constitutes breach of contract. Fight it and you will get your order cancelled. Like someone said, you don't sound like you are in a hurry, nor do you mind which version of the iMac you purchase. Wait a couple of weeks and you will probably be able to get such discounts on Refurb (good as new) stock from Apple directly. Can I also ask you if you are a student or an academic of any sort? Or know someone in academia that can buy it for you? That will qualify you for a 12% discount and if you buy it online from Apple's own website, you will also qualify for a free extended 3 year warranty. Good luck

Remember when...
"iMac and Mac Pro to be updated in 2013."

Edit:
"Actually, only Mac Pro update in 2013."

Perhaps iMac discontinued.
