Don't even go there. :( To depressing to think about.

Well the exclusion of being updated in 2013 can mean a few things:

1. Sometime 2012, today - December 31, 2012
2. Sometime after 2013, January 1, 2013 - end of time
3. Never

Just a thought.

This is killing me. My 27" iMac was stolen 3 weeks ago. First I thought it at least was a opportunity for me to get a better machine. Now I have a high 27" iMac sitting at my local Apple pusher, waiting for me, because they were 4 days faster than I had anticipated. My plan was to wait until the 10/12 and then pick it up, and if a new model arrived within the 2 week full refund period I would take it back.

But all this uncertainty is unbearable. I'm honestly considering just getting the 2011 model. But I can't figure out if the speed bump actually matter to me or if it's mostly on principle.

At this point I think a) we'll get a new design and b) retina screen could be an option or a separate model, like on the MBP.

Really if we were to get just the Ivy Bridge update at this point (aka the MBP) and no design/screen changes I'll be pissed as hell!

I'm also hoping the Mini is updated but really with that how much can it's design be changed? Same goes for the Mac Pro, those customers want a tower for a reason, it would be crazy for Apple to change the tower Mac Pro to something else.

In the UK your statutory rights to do with distance selling regulations protect you against such retailers. Besides, their inability to fulfil their part of the bargain probably constitutes breach of contract. Fight it and you will get your order cancelled. Like someone said, you don't sound like you are in a hurry, nor do you mind which version of the iMac you purchase. Wait a couple of weeks and you will probably be able to get such discounts on Refurb (good as new) stock from Apple directly. Can I also ask you if you are a student or an academic of any sort? Or know someone in academia that can buy it for you? That will qualify you for a 12% discount and if you buy it online from Apple's own website, you will also qualify for a free extended 3 year warranty. Good luck

Thanks, I might do that. I am not a student but get same corporate discount with Apple store from my work place ;)

I will wait for 2 weeks otherwise getting Windows base PC :( I am just wondering with this low stock in the whole world, what are the chances of getting iMac in next two-three weeks. That is even if Apple release their new model!!! I can't afford to buy it from apple at standard price even after my company's 10% discount. I have to buy it in installments and unlike you lucky Americans, Apple uk don't do 12 months interest free :) oh well. Thanks for the info anyway.

One thing I don't get is, fine apple don't have to release it's dates but do they not have any respect for their customers to explain why the stock is so low!!! What ever apple is I can tell one thing for sure, they have the best supporting community like this. Big thumbs up to you guys.

Nice of Apple to totally take a dump on the very people that have kept them alive for several years. They must have everyone working on some iOS project these days, be it software or hardware.

It's 'okay' if they halt/discontinue the development of the iMac, as long as they tell it outloud (so that we can move on with our sorry lives with one of the MacBooks or a Windows PC)! Is it so much to ask for them to tell us whether it's coming or not?

I feel that there are two dates left. The 9th and 17th of October. If no iMac is released after that date and no new rumors I think we can safely say that apple has, for some reason, chosen not to release an iMac in 2012

It's getting scary now people, we'll see what (if anything) unfolds shortly.

Don't lose hope! It's not over by a long way!!! Chin up and tally ho old chaps!!! We are getting a new iMac, I feel it in me bones!!

Heck, they don't even bother updating or enhancing iWork or iLife on the desktop anymore - other providing iOS capaitability.

#I totally agree with you#...

I think the update will happen between now and 6 months that's a definite, there's no way it could take any longer than that.

Adding to what my source said [he's a dev for OSX], new iMac will be out in December, still sticking to the 27 and 32 in model he said.

Also no more Mac Pro for those interested

I'm pretty sure people were saying the same thing six months ago.

Apple is taking this "post-PC world" concept rather seriously, it seems.

Your source a full of sh. Apple has never release any products in December it doesn't make sense since everyone is already have done their holiday shopping if its not by this month then we can say good bye to the 2012 imac because its be a 2013. Lets hope that doesn't happen. Also every rumor has said nov-oct so I'm sorry to say this but your source doesn't seem to know much. On the other hand

HAS ANYONE POKE THROUGH AND FIND ANY LITTLE RUMOR? This is pitiful

whatever. don't shoot the messenger. if it comes out, great. if it doesn't, then it doesn't. this is macRUMORS. and its a refresh, not a new product.

but what do i know, im just a messenger also looking forward to a new imac

Hey, if they came out with a 32" iMac Pro that was thicker than the standard iMacs (two hard drive bays, more ram, etc), I'd be semi-okay with that as a replacement for the Mac Pro.

Stakes? I think the iMac will be EOLed and we won't see another refresh in its current form. I think Tim Cook's "something great in 2013 for pro users" is going to be a different, combined or otherwise revamped desktop model.

The iMac is the only Apple computer making inroads in corporate world (for its looks). Apple hardly likely to ditch that. Lets exchange DMs for stake. Very interested

My guess is that there was a 2012 plan to release an iMac but it got scrapped because there's no real point refreshing yet, current iMac does everything just fine, on top of that there's probably just too much stock of the current iMac around. Seriously how many people out there actually give a damn about the new iMac? Most people just buy them they don't care what there getting.

Curry's and PC world in the uk are offering £350 for your old mac when you buy any new mac (iMac, MacBook Pro etc) and this offer is due to end on Thursday the 25th oct. could this be them clearing stock for a release following week......

.....bloody doubt it but we will see....
