And,of course, the first thing Tim Cook thinks of when he considers the anniversary of the death of a close friend and colleague is that it will make a great way of selling some computers.

Or perhaps honouring his legacy with a new product he would have been proud of?

The Store has been down for over two and a half hours now! Is that normal?

Seems to be something bigger than just maintenance, maybe a re-design of the store is being implemented?

Just seems odd, 12 months to the day of Jobs' passing.

EDIT: Apparently its been down for over 4 hours (now).

I'm with Nova Sensei on this ...

Absolutely yes ... the Store is down for at least an average time of 2 / 3 hours, but it sometimes stays down a little more : I don't think it'll take much to be up again though ...

Steve jobs great product after his comeback was the original iMac so...

For what it's worth, my local reseller (Comet, UK) told me yesterday that the 27" iMac has been all but removed from their stock list. They've even removed the display model in the store.

There is no warehouse stock and no re-stocking date.

Sounds good to me. It would make sense for Apple to present a new display as well, supporting USB 3.0. Tuesday? :)

I very much doubt it but I remain hopeful that it might make a shock appearance early November. If not, no Apple for me as I'm not in the mood for spending that type of money on out-dated tech and need a new computer.

Oh now it's November?!
It's so funny. In June everybody said July. Then in the middle of July they said August/September. Then in the middle of September they said October. And now November?? No no!
I think it's the fact that nobody of us want it true that there is perhaps no new iMac.
I wanted to jump from Windows to Mac but i think this company gives a s*** about desktop users...

Apple gives you two options:
first: buy what's available
second: buy an other computer

They must have a strange web design. Why they close the Apple store down when only the homepage gets updated?

One can only bet if apple does not give us a new computer this year they will revolutionise it next year. So I am putting my cards out on the table for thinner (lose of dvd superdrive) , sleeker bazeless design by making the screen larger without losing its dimensions, faster by making some parts flash and don't forget the retina with near ridiculously 4k resolution but i did say near.

Let's all face it the iMac is not going to be released till summer 2013 if not in October

Next you will be saying the 24th December is a possible date.

Just like the MBP's I heard... well I never actually ever heard anyone whine about how thick they were, but we sure get em thinner and they run hot but it's thin which is all that matters.

Same with the iMac I am sure someone somewhere just notices how thick it is and is disgusted, to the point where they threw up. It's just too thick, so they should shave it down a few mm which everyone will notice and it may run hotter and lose functionality but damnit it will be thinner.

Mac Pro is a pig. Everyone knows it's too big and fat. I prefer it look like a large blade maybe half an inch thick. Don't care about functionality and ability to add RAM and SSD, I just want it thin cause there is an imaginary place where people always hated how thick this stuff was.

Then we get those awesome videos on the redesign where the Ive talks sounding as if he is halfway between an orgasm and bursting into tears, got to love it.

Or someone could be in charge there that knows it's the OS and integration people like above all else and make some real meat to the PC's....I mean macs.

:p

Magical

The rMBP runs as hot as the standard one. They are meant to run hot that is why they call them notebooks and not laptops. Why would you not want thinner on a mobile device?

The store has gone down every 3rd day lately it seems. Maybe it is a marketing thing to keep people in the hope of something HUGE is about to happen with all these downtime preps and stick with Apple rather than jump ship to a competitor to make up for their lateness. haha.

If its a marketing strategy they're shattering all my..."jewels within my boxer"..and dissipating all the trust i was giving them:mad:
