I am with you.
1)USB3 is kinda unimportant to me. If I am looking for a storage solution I am either going cloud based or a TB raid system.
2) I am a developer so the extra horsepower WILL benefit me however at the office I am using a 2.3ghz i7 MBP with 27" display and it works just fine. So honestly it will be nice to have the extra horsepower, but to say I NEED it is an untruth.
3) I think I am one of the few that could care less about the form factor. The current 2011 iMac is beautiful. If they didn't change anything for 2012 I could honestly care less.
4) I couldn't care less about the optical drive. I can honestly say I don't remember the last time I used mine.
5) The screen lamination is great! I am all about that. No one likes dust.Well weirdos might.(A dust fetish. Is that a thing?)
1. I want USB3! And aren't storage solutions much cheaper via USB than TB for the moment? I refuse to pay overs for storage after being spoilt for the past couple of years. My first external was a 70gig Yano that cost a whopping 120,000yen = 1000bucks. Imagine that? Tech is soooo much cheaper now.
3. I'm with you on the form factor. I couldn't care less... It's interesting. In #3 you use "could care less" and in #4 you use "couldn't care less". The first being the American expression and the latter the British/Aust etc expression. Perhaps you've got one American parent and one Aussie!!!
4. I got me a USB superdrive and it's great with seamless integration with itunes. If they dump the internal I won't mind at all.
5. Yeah, that screen lamination would be nice too. As for dust fetishes - Have you seen that TV show about the people with freaky fetishes? Like the bloke who makes love to his car or the chick with sleeps with her hair dryer on? That's is some whacked out stuff! So, I reckon you might be able to find someone with a dust fetish!
Back in May my screen had the dust problem and my graphics card gave up. I had the choice to buy a new iMac or spend 500 bucks with out of warranty apple care to have both parts replaced (it's a flat fee here in Japan for whatever is wrong with the machine after the 3 years is up). I went for the 500 buck option because I thought new ones were coming... Alas, I was wrong. In hindsight I should have put that 500 towards a new computer. The only up side is the inlaws will get my fully functioning 2008 imac.
