I am with you.

1)USB3 is kinda unimportant to me. If I am looking for a storage solution I am either going cloud based or a TB raid system.

2) I am a developer so the extra horsepower WILL benefit me however at the office I am using a 2.3ghz i7 MBP with 27" display and it works just fine. So honestly it will be nice to have the extra horsepower, but to say I NEED it is an untruth.

3) I think I am one of the few that could care less about the form factor. The current 2011 iMac is beautiful. If they didn't change anything for 2012 I could honestly care less.

4) I couldn't care less about the optical drive. I can honestly say I don't remember the last time I used mine.

5) The screen lamination is great! I am all about that. No one likes dust. ;) Well weirdos might.(A dust fetish. Is that a thing?)

1. I want USB3! And aren't storage solutions much cheaper via USB than TB for the moment? I refuse to pay overs for storage after being spoilt for the past couple of years. My first external was a 70gig Yano that cost a whopping 120,000yen = 1000bucks. Imagine that? Tech is soooo much cheaper now.

3. I'm with you on the form factor. I couldn't care less... It's interesting. In #3 you use "could care less" and in #4 you use "couldn't care less". The first being the American expression and the latter the British/Aust etc expression. Perhaps you've got one American parent and one Aussie!!!

4. I got me a USB superdrive and it's great with seamless integration with itunes. If they dump the internal I won't mind at all.

5. Yeah, that screen lamination would be nice too. As for dust fetishes - Have you seen that TV show about the people with freaky fetishes? Like the bloke who makes love to his car or the chick with sleeps with her hair dryer on? That's is some whacked out stuff! So, I reckon you might be able to find someone with a dust fetish!

Back in May my screen had the dust problem and my graphics card gave up. I had the choice to buy a new iMac or spend 500 bucks with out of warranty apple care to have both parts replaced (it's a flat fee here in Japan for whatever is wrong with the machine after the 3 years is up). I went for the 500 buck option because I thought new ones were coming... Alas, I was wrong. In hindsight I should have put that 500 towards a new computer. The only up side is the inlaws will get my fully functioning 2008 imac.

Obviously you don't. Since manufacturers aren't also in the business of shipping supply. The one or two companies that apple uses to ship world wide, might indeed be held up moving 5,000,000 iPhones.

Oh but Apple IS in the business of shipping supply. You think Apple ships 5,000,000 at one time? Obviously you don't realize that Apple ships from multiple manufacturers, from multiple cities and is very much aware of the their shippers capabilities. If Apple wants to ship an extra plane full of product from China, money talks and FedEx and UPS listen.

The suggestion that "21" iMacs are down in availability because apple has its supply chain tied up with iPhone 5's and iPad minis" is ridiculous.

I am Irish living in the states. LOL! Maybe I am picking up bad habits while living here ? "could care less" actually makes no sense. It's like" Hey ask me in a few minutes. I might care less then." Couldn't is finite, which makes a lot more sense.

So, I did it. I bought a base 27 inch iMac. I needed it for my new office and yesterday was the last day I could hold out too.

Funny thing is, I tried to buy it at the Sydney CBD Apple Store and they didn't have any. They had the higher spec machines but not the base model. The guy thought that was a bit odd so maybe an update is imminent. Anyway I had to go a few doors down and get it at Dick Smith - which was ok because they were doing 10% off if you bought Apple Care (which made Apple Care pretty close to free).

Something big is coming out cause tech news sites are reporting the apple store being down

Including all things D

Maybe it's down for the new iTunes coming out? Just throwing out ideas...

I would be surprised, just it isn't sold through the store.

Friday is an odd day though. If it was a product release, especially an iMac I would eat my hat. Then order one ;)

That is interesting all things d usually don't report on the store being down. Lets see what we'll get

Oh yes we didnt have Apple store down tHread for a while :)

I've read about shortages of iPod,maybe theyre updating shipping dates but that'd be silly.

Maybe Steve J memorial page or sth? Doubt its the new iMacs.

On a second thought it makes sense. It'll be new page for new iTunes, I'm 70% sure about it.

Why would the store need updating for iTunes?

Regardless, I think we're all expecting something boring! But maybe, just maybe..... :D

I think it can also be connected with a new service. Just this week there was a rumor about Apple TV software update that could enable TV show purchases in some countries in Europe. I know it doesn't sound like a big deal to most of you but remember the rest of the world doesn't have any major movie/tv streaming service.
It could be a streamlined launch, maybe some new features?

Also remember that everytime the store goes down it creates buzz and free publicity for Apple, even if its just a small update.

I don't think they'd have a memorial sale. That's twisted.

The main site might do something, but that's still up at the moment... just the store is down.

You mean well. I am sure. But you discredited yourself (or your alleged source) a couple of days ago when you said the Mac Pro would be discontinued.

He just told me that along with the iMac info. I thought it was odd since Mac Pros were being used for school and he said that various school boards/uni's/colleges were miffed at it. We'll see what happens.

Store down exactly one year since stev died

Steve jobs first big thing was the imac. 12 months to the day since his death, the store is down. The imac hasn't been updated for 521 days. Apple often launch big changes on a friday. I'd like to believe these coincidences add up to something as i've been sitting here waiting for a high end imac since february :apple:

I hope so even because
TRiNiTy ApU A10 from Amd good for the Minis
and Nvidia 670Mx/675mx good for Imacs
were out just by few days in October,i hope planets are aligning:cool:.
Lets see, crossing my fingers but keeping my expectations low.
Could be just Nest2.

And,of course, the first thing Tim Cook thinks of when he considers the anniversary of the death of a close friend and colleague is that it will make a great way of selling some computers.
