I dont think every country needs to be out of iMacs for apple to release a new one. But I´m still expecting another tuesday to go by without something happening. I´ve learned, By Apple, not to get my hopes up.

True Edry, but isbåden Like this for almost a week. Delivery should be 1-3 days standard shipping, now its 7-8. I cant explain why Express shipping is different, but maybe Express goes from different stocks, Like perhaps the stores.

Either way something arranges is happening, and even tho no iPad now, 1 month after iPhone could still be a good date for new macs :)

I've always been very REALISTIC and willing to get facts before believing or even just hoping ... it's not much, but I have a (VERY) little hope as this is something which has never happened before since 2011 :

Up until yesterday it said Disponibile, now it says 3-5 giorni. However, as others have said, it's not the same in other stores...

It's still quite interesting that it gives 22-24 Oct for standard delivery and 19-23 for express delivery...

Maybe Apple unveils new Macs next week and then, closer to christmas, the iPad mini, putting the focus only on the iPhone and iPad (mini) for the holiday season...

Who said anything about them dropping that segment of their business? The general consensus is that Apple will EOL their three distinct desktops and replace them "later in 2013" with one desktop. The company can then direct its fuller attention on portable computing, following the profit.

The iMac is done. The Pro and Mini too, but it took a while for us to recognize it. Apple has clearly telegraphed where they are going. All that remains is the bookkeeping, as it were.

Something like that may happen but if Apple just goes for ONE desktop, EOL'ing the current three it means in effect they ARE actually dropping also one demographic: pros or consumers.

One desktop will not target both groups. Therefore they would be dropping one user-base.

I think we all know which one that would be.

So I think it is not likely there is just one desktop. Would it be headless? If not then what about the impact on the Cinema displays? No way they would EOL them too.

If not headless it's not really a pro model is it? Unless specced so high they lose the consumer buyers.

There has been speculation of some form of combined desktop - I'm one of the guilty parties. But, it's about as close to a general consensus as I am to the Voyager spacecraft. As to one desktop targetting both groups, then I think something modular could be put together. Someone here suggested a design using Thunderbolt as a general purpose system bus. So a set of boxes that could be clipped together into the required configuration. Infinitely flexible consumer devices may not be the Apple way, but it's an intriguing thought.

Mind you - in my case, this speculation is particularly based on the interpretation of Cook's comment about "something really great for pro users" meaning professional users in general, not MacPro users. Willing to accept that's reading too far between the lines.

You're right.
Actually the Mini/Pro Lines are makin more sense
with Cinema display rather than the Imac line which resumes all in one machine.
They are two different concept of Desktop, headless versus AIO.
A modular line ,mini duo+mini quad+gpu box+display...would
more affordable..i mean i'd be able to buy a piece of my rig when i need/i can afford it,but it seems rather complex and with so many plugs to fit each togheter..,maybe Apple will i-glue(€/$ 9,99) them as with latest Itoys(ipod touch,ip5,rMBookPro..),because with Apple external aesthetics (look within the 30pin-lightining adapter, its yellow..to make all components sticked together)i don't see them create a modular system connected by Thunderbolt wires.
We will see,if only Apple still plans to build Desktops .

I really can't see how Apple would ever do modular for anyone other than Pro Users - you know how they think everyone needs it simple (ie receptive to being given whatever Apple decides!) and even for Pros is a real stretch. They never did it yet and the need has been there for a decade.

I do agree with about Cook's comments though. I never believed he meant 'Mac Pro' - people just wanted to believe he meant that and it was easy because he was answering a Mac Pro question.

My read of it is 'something ELSE is coming for Pros - and that's why the delay'. In other words Mac Pro is toast.

How that impacts the iMac though who knows?

As long as iMac sells really great it will be stupid to delete it. Its still the best all in one pc that every other companies are following.
I realized that now that I have searched for an alternative option.

Into the guess now I do believe that we will have an announcement by the end of next week, 18th of October. Why?
1. There are low stocks in many many various shops around the world
2. Availability dates changing all the time
3.There were rumours for a release for months now, but most of them had as deadline the end of October

the only think that we do not have is pictures...and thats not nessesary as we are just expecting just a silent hardwarwe upgrade...so prepare your money and your credit cards as they are coming......

PS. mac minis are out of stock in many shops as well.

It seems that Apple has informed the wholesalers that the lack of 27'' in the various shops, is due to a major upgrade that will be of the product range and decided not to supply the wholesalers to avoid trouble with the arrival of the new iMac, which at this point I think it's an update to the 27'' maybe a 32''.
These wholesalers confirm that there will be an announcement next week.
they talk about an aesthetic revolution, without the retina display, and hoping for a 32''.

we hope!

Sounds good... although I don't believe in an 32-incher, at least if it's not supposed to be a replacement for TVs...

If any of this is true I´m gonna smile for week. I´m gonna be so happy then that I didnt give up and bought the current, regret would have been eating me up then.

On the Swiss Apple Store there is still an indication of 1-3 days delivery time, though it looks like there was a price drop for the CTO version ....

So for an event to be held on Oct 23rd... when should we see the invitations flying?
And if the 27" is replaced by a 32", I hope that the 21.5" is replaced by a new 24"!

Don't think we will see a 32,but it would be great after so many days of waiting,
maybe with a 32 you'll have finally space for a GTX650-680

If you translate the message he says there will definitely be an announcement next week however he only wishes that there will be a 32 inch iMac!

So now all I have to do is hold my breath till Oct 23rd. I really hope we finally see a new iMac because I have begun obsessing over this lately!
