You could say, " End rant,...or is it?" Then you get to end your current rant while leaving it open for a sequel.

Lol yes, sometimes things need to be said, i love speaking my mind everyone should as long as its relevant. It'd make you feel better promise.

Do you ever get the feeling that we are creating our own rumors?

I think the digitimes article was probably right with regard to the 13" macbooks, but I doubt that had anything to do with the ipad minis or the imacs themselves. It was rumored last month that the imac shortage had to do with screen issues, not retina ones though and so far all ipad mini rumors say no retina at the expected price point.

Don't know what this thread would be without the ranters? If people don't like rational and critical but hopeful and sometimes frustrated voicing of opinions, there are plenty of other threads on other forums to go complain about how iMacs are bad, Apple is evil, and the entire Tech industry should get spanked with a barb wire. Oh and "yes sure" Ivy is old tech, and haswell is "hasbeen". I can't recuperate from the laughter.

I "think" iMacs are coming in before wed. 24th. I may be wrong. If you don't like my rant, feel free to contribute. But if you have no rationale or argument, kindly go have fun with your significant others sex toys, and spare us from your brutal malestation.

/end of one rant.

Sadly, I think you are right. An Ivy Bridge iMac would be kind of a joke at this point. What's next? A Pentium 4 iMac?

Do you even know when Ivy bridge became widely available? How about the GPUs? Infact, I guess you have a spec sheet since you already know it will be a joke, please share with us, I know some are desperate to get ahold of what piece of information you may have. Also maybe you can elaborate on what's more uptodate than the Ivy Bridge.

Anyway, if they had launched a "current" iMac 3 months ago, I would buy that model today. I just don't like to buy a 520 day old machine.

Well said my friend. I'm really hoping though we see the iMac and I really hope it happens sooner than later, although I'm still kinda puzzled, because it doesn't make sens that apple will release them a week before the iPad mini then have the event and the iPad mini outshines the iMac stories. Well some might say its happening the iPad mini event while this what I Believe I still have my doubts because they are saying to be focused on iBooks so I can see them just talking about books and them talk about the iPad mini and call it a day which would make me a very very angry person but one can only hope. Needless to say apple is been working on a very weird unpredictable schedule (as for the desktops) so anything could happen. The good thing is that Tuesday is just around the corner and we will soon find out either by the invitations hint or by an actual iMac being release. Hope it goes well in our favor

Personally, I quite enjoy the rants.

So with the latest rumor on the homepage, how will they tie in the new iMac with iBooks?

Could this mean we'll see a silent release next week?!? Because I certainly can't see a major connection....

Or maybe the iMac will be a "one more thing..."

Speaking as someone who writes books, I'd rather do that on an iMac than an iPad. And if they've got some new software for making iBooks or Ebooks, it would be running on osx not iOS.

I have wondered about that given the lack of what I consider substantive information. Just for fun, I just checked my iMac dictionary to refresh my memory:

rumor |ˈro͞omər|(Brit. rumour )
noun
a currently circulating story or report of uncertain or doubtful truth: they were investigating rumors of a massacre | rumor has it that he will take a year off.

I think in regards to iMacs appearing this year we've had more of this than anything else:

speculation |ˌspekyəˈlāSHən|
noun
1 the forming of a theory or conjecture without firm evidence: there has been widespread speculation that he plans to quit | this is pure speculation on my part | these are only speculations.
2 investment in stocks, property, or other ventures in the hope of gain but with the risk of loss: the company's move into property speculation. he was a millionaire from speculations on the stock market.

That said and defined, I'd speculate 2013 will be a good year for Macintosh desktops, that good things are coming but they take time. Maybe there will be a minor refresh before this year is out but I doubt it.

No your wrong its 2017.

..good things are coming but they take time.

The Mac Pro users will tell you to pull your head in on that one. 685 days since the last Mac Pro refresh, they got the most laughable, ridiculous, pathetic update imaginable. Honestly, don't put any faith in Apple to do "the right thing" or what is logically expected as being acceptable of a multi billion dollar computer company.

Same here. I write for a living and I also need some computational power for excel databases analytics and multiple platforms operating in parallel. I get by on the MacBook Air but I need a desktop. iPad mini for consumption of textbooks (more likely than just plain vanilla anti-kindle) and iMac for putting things together. There's a theme for the 24th

It's what you said a couple weeks ago.. It would make sense but really I don't care as long as we get an iMac!

Edry

Lol yes, sometimes things need to be said, i love speaking my mind everyone should as long as its relevant. It'd make you feel better promise.

Been following this from the beginning Edry sticks out. I think he wants this Imac the most of anyone. Its ruling his life seems like everything he does online is imac where tf is it related. In a strange way I want their to be no imac in October so Edry flips out. Sorry Edry, but I want to read his end of October no imac rant!

What and why do you want/need the new imac for Edry? Why so desperate?

Launching a "new" iMac with a 6 month old processor is a joke. Full stop. It should have been released 6 months ago.

I'm not getting this link between iPad Mini and the iMac and the iBooks.

Why are people enthusiastic about this? Surely an iPad Mini/iBook event makes it LESS likely an iMac will arrive soon not more?

Am also failing to see how iBooks could vaguely relate to iMac?

Any one bring me up to speed?

iMacs used to be popular in edu markets. Maybe introduction of some edu mac?
Thats the only link I can think of honestly.

It's a stretch.

I think this iPad Mini though is not an iPad Mini at all....more of a Kindle-Killer. And probably there will be some sort of iBooks Store - maybe in iTunes? - to do for ebooks what iTunes did for music.

If so then that will be a massive event and very hard to see where iMacs fit in....

26th October is the Windows 8 release, with much new hardware, I do not think, that Apple brings a new Desktop Computer in this time on the market.
If they do it, either they want a confrontation with MS or Apple is mad. My tip mid of November when the W8 hype is flattening and the W8 bug coming to surface.

Anyway, i ordered today a windows PC, I don't see a future in Apple Desktop Computing. ( No office 2013, cost <-> use, upgradebility.......)

Best regards, have fun!

You're just the worst kind of person. You sir, have no sympathy from me.

At this point, I am expecting a minor, silent spec bump and new releases with Haswell mid-next year. Anything else would have at least the hint of rumor out there.

So Apple should only launch product towards processor plans? Maybe they believe launching a product with 6 months old screen technology is a joke. Maybe 6 months old GPUS technology is a joke. Maybe 6 months old connectivity technology is a joke. Maybe you gave your entire argument away by not giving any rationale, and thinking that to type "full stop" gives you any credence whatsoever. Maybe, that logical fallacy made your post a joke.

How do you launch products that have technology only launched in the last month? You don't. You chose something that's worth it and you go with that. I don't "know" what apple choose to put their money on, and neither do you. Maybe wait and see, before you call "full stop, joke"

That doesn't mean I didn't want an iMac 6 months ago, but nothing suggests that Apple did this purposefully, and nothing suggests Apple put their money on the wrong horse. Yet.

CPU isn't everything. And certainly not when it's a tock instead of a tick. If you aren't familiar with tick tick, look up Intels tick tock strategy on wiki/google.

I would think now is the perfect time to bring out new iMacs. Why let Windows 8 steal all the glory? Tossing out some pretty iMacs optimized for Mountain Lion makes pretty damn good sense to me. Hopefully they will be thinner, come in more sizes, along with a redesigned keyboard/trackpad.

What did I say ealier ? I said soon you'll see people wanting the iMac rumors to be false because they just simply don't want their machine to look outdated. Here it is guys. It's people like this that I always talk about.. With all the negativity and ignorance then they call me crazy and I'm going nuts but saying somethig like "in a strange way I don't want to be a iMac in October so Edry flips out" that's just sick and maybe you're the one that needs to look into yourself sir.
