She's not referring to a third party sale. Apple stores discount their products one day a year: black friday. It's not much, probably just $100 for the iMac. It's a good question. After waiting a year and half, would you be able to wait one more month to save $100? I hadn't even thought about it because I've just been in the mindset that I am going to order it the second it's released. I don't know. It will be a tough decision. Alas, It will be self imposed torture, but I will probably force myself to wait. (of course this is all assuming a new iMac is actually released before black friday.)

I hadn't thought about Black Friday until someone here said that if no new iMacs are out this month, they're going to wait for Black Friday to get a discount at some store. That made me wonder: the last 21.5" 2011 refurb on the Italian store cost €979, versus €1158 for the non-refurb; that's €179 less. Last year, Black Friday discounts on all iMacs on the Italian store were €91. Barely half as much, but still half as much. If iMacs are slated to be introduced on the 23rd (and possibly sold the next week), it'll just be a few more weeks before BF. In the meantime early adopters will get it and reviews and benchmark will start pouring in. The discount would also amount to a decent USB3 disk (Amazon.it has 2 TB Western Digital for €106), and that would be a nice companion to a small (256-ish GB) but fast internal SSD.
I guess we'll all decide when it's out. :)

BTW, it's "he"... :p

So with the latest rumor on the homepage, how will they tie in the new iMac with iBooks?

Could this mean we'll see a silent release next week?!? Because I certainly can't see a major connection....

Or maybe the iMac will be a "one more thing..."

Ivy bridge is already old tech. Ain't no 2012 iMac. Apple is making their own AMD quad-core processor, so we won't be getting hasbeen either.

Apple doesn't want to build their machines on other people's time lines of product releases.

Any 2012 news you hear from now on are paid shills for rumor sites in order to keep click throughs high (I'm looking at Kuo)

the only way I could see them tying the iPad mini and a new iMac together is if they add a 32" iMac and send the invites out saying "Size really does matter"

New rumor, guys: 2012 iMac is coming out in 2016, but you have time travel to 2010 to put the idea in Steve Jobs' brain, and then travel back to the future to actually buy it. You heard it here first.

Yet they have done so. A year is 365 days. The last iMac update was more than 500 days ago.

(facepalm) I mean they wont leave out a 2012 model iMac they know they will make a profit and there switching over to nividia so why would they keep making iMacs with a amd gpu ? Thats why the stock is low everywhere I feel confident in saying there will be one released in the next 2 weeks 23-25 october around about

I dont see any of that being true Jobs left Apple with 4 years worth of plans. They wont use AMD cpu because it lacks multi tasking and they Jobs would of mentioned it in his plans as switching CPU's is a drastic change.

If Apple can see a way of making money they will do it and as its coming up to christmas and the iMac being a family computer they will release it.

I think the focus on the 23rd will be education and the purpose for the iPad Mini will be for every school kid in the world to carry with all of their books loaded on it. If this takes a few sales away from Amazon then all the better. The kids will then need a iMac at home to write papers etc. and with iCloud they will have access to all of their school work.

Siri will move to the iMac and will be a tool to help with homework.

I believe the announcement will be on the 23rd because of this connection to the iPad Mini and this will still get iMacs in the market before the holiday shopping season. This will also put them back in direct competition with all of the new Windows 8 systems coming out this year.

Of course this is merely my opinion, based on reading rumors, and is no better than anyone else’s guess.

He said the iMac would be announced on September 12th which it obviously didnt. The article has no actual source only digitimes. Clearly only writing it for advert views.

Ok, didn't know that. Who knows... Even a blind hen sometimes finds a grain of corn :)

However, let's hope for the 16th or 23th.

Wooo aren't I late to the partay...

Anyways...

It will be tuesday guys!... It seems like they don't wanna break the traditional iMac release on tuesdays, so they'll hold the event in Tuesday instead of Wednesday in respect for iMac. O yeahhh!! o yeahhh!!.... I'm so optimistic this time! :D ;)

I will believe it only once word is uttered by Cook or some official Apple spokesperson/outlet.

Soon some of the people that got a 2011 machine or a MacBook Pro, your gonna see them wishing that all the rumors are false and wishing that the iMac doesn't happen because it'd make their machine an older generation.however the current iMac is a great machine don't get me wrong it's just the price. I just hate when we get little ignorant pricks and they won't let the others be happy and have our moments so they have to start saying oh it ain't happening simply because that's what they want. I already seen a few of these people here. So to them ill say this: we have been waiting for a long long time and there's is a lot of frustration so when we get iMac rumors, please for the love of f* (# let us have our moments and don't come here saying "is not happening" simply because you don't want it to happen. There's a different between being realistic and just straight up ignorant.

End rant.

you should save that "end rant" for your last ever post on macrumors 'cause all of your posts are rants.

Well I hope they make an announcement soon. I still have 40 days to use my newly purchased 2011 27". If they do Ill just return it in a few weeks to pre-order the new one and wait it out...

As you mention, the Black Friday deals in the Apple stores are really nothing special.

Meanwhile, for them to be available on Black Friday they'd need the be announced at least several WEEKs earlier. Because it usually takes some time between announcement and release, and they need to get the word out that the new iMacs are released.

If they want to use Black Friday to CLEAR OUT the existing inventory... then I doubt they'll get that much. $100 isn't that huge of a discount, and with the big "?" of when the next version will come out, it will reduce sales more.

Sadly, I think you are right. An Ivy Bridge iMac would be kind of a joke at this point. What's next? A Pentium 4 iMac?
