Well, if Apple would like to release some new hardware, now would be a really good time.

Well, if Apple would like to release some new hardware, now would be a really good time.

That happened to me back in february. When I got it back from repairs with a new HDD (and new display since they found dust) I sold it while it was still in the box, seeing how "a refresh had to be imminent"..

Seems you might be a bit luckier!

Btw, you should check for bad sectors with a SMART scan: http://www.volitans-software.com/smart_utility.php

Thanks for the suggestion, but it seems I'm past the point of being able to install new software. Or, boot. Looks like I'll be selling "as is" "for parts".

I do, at least, already have a good enough backup.

Perhaps the way i said it made it seem stupid. We've seen here some nice iMac creations and one being a nice flat one that stands on its own but can recline flat so you can place it somewhere either on your lap with proper settings or for artist. The only issue would be be best with touch screen but we all know how apple feels about touchscreen.

And instead of calling an idea stupid instantly try to at least have an open mind and put your own thoughts into it or your own crazy idea.

Maybe you should take a look at this.

I can confirm that we will NOT see any new iMacs tomorrow. My friend works at an Apple store and said they didn't receive any shipments of the 2012 iMacs today to have in stock for tomorrow. Things are looking towards a target date of next week now.

SSD time.

256gb samsung SSD $160 off NewEgg from slickdeals.net

Yeah, that would be the way to go if I wanted to extend the life of this 2007 computer. But, the display's also not in great shape (mostly evident in the white screens on bootup) and I really do want an updated GPU so I can get back to gaming on it..

It would seem that the 2012's really are "right around the corner this time". Although the suggestion that the 27" might be delayed has me more than a little concerned.

Thanks for the info, although we did expect this. Surely with the mac mini's now rumored to be updated at the event the imac must also be updated?

Nothing is "surely" until it happens. If you want talk probabilities, though, we're in the 90-95% range.

Ah gotcha. I think putting a new disk into the machine, whether its a spinner or an SSD, would boost the resale value a lot as opposed to "as is" or "for parts" type of listing. May be worth the time and money.

You're probably right. But I don't own the proper tools to get inside an iMac and I'm a bit unskilled (or perhaps just unlucky) at hardware replacement. Knowing my luck, assuming I managed to get the glass off, I'd put it on the bed and the cat would jump on it and send it crashing to the floor. :D

Found this uploaded today. Is this a hoax?

iMac13,1: http://browser.primatelabs.com/geekbench2/1161107

Hard to tell, but from the things I checked, it looks plausible. Slightly lower performance than the iMac 13,2 mark from July.

----------

Is this "the real deal"? It's posted today (15 october) and "13,1" is... strange?

This is the 13th generation iMac. 13,1 would be the 21.5" and 13,2 would be the 27", assuming they kept the same screen sizes.

Honestly? This is feeling like a "The Mac Strikes Back" event, with Mini, 13" rMBP, and iMac all featured.. and then a "One More Thing" of iPad Mini.

Ok stock update.

Hi27, low21 and Hi27 have 8 days delivery, low27 has days delivery.

With 4 products currently and a "3 model launch" it's abit puzzling what structure they will go with.

One can speculate that they are only keeping the Hi27 model, in the future, and both a low and a Hi 21.

Or maybe it's just 21", 24" and 27" :)?
