Intel is making all these chips. Obviously even if Haswell is ready they won't release it if Ivy Bridge is too new. They'll get the best mileage they can get out of each one of these processors. I don't expect to see Haswell until at least late 2013.

On a different note, these July rummors are pissing me off. I want to buy the damn computers so hurry the fawk up Apple.

Haswell will be released no sooner than April 2013, one year after Ivy Bridge (which was expected to ship earlier but delays in the shipment of Sandy Bridge led Intel to delay Ivy Bridge too). It may be released later, though, but I expect it to be released no later than June or July.

I would also like to have new MacBook Pros soon, but rumors have just stopped. I guess it may take a while for Apple to upgrade them...

This makes sense. The idea that the Macbook Pro will be released at WWDC with Mountain Lion means that Mountain Lion has to be close to finished. What would be the point of releasing the MBP at WWDC after showing a developer preview of the next OS. Either the MPB will be released prior to WWDC, completely separate from the OS release cycle, or Apple is planning on releasing both... If it is the former option of release beforehand, I expect that the new MPB will ship with 10.7.4 - which seems to be almost ready to go...[/QUOTE]

This article has nothing to do with MacBook Pros. Even if Apple releases Mountain Lion during WWDC, it doesn't mean that it will also release MBPs at the same time.

So he is already offering significant discounts or you will get significant discounts if you place the order on or after 6/6/12?

On or before 6/6/12. Tells me that they are dumping inventory, maybe starting with government and education first?

13" MBP better come out by WWDC or before.. Been waiting since Feb.

Might as well wait once the new one comes out for the one after that.

Seriously, if you want one just go buy one. There's no purpose in waiting, something better will always come along. I just bought a new Macbook Pro two weeks ago. I wouldn't have cared if the new ones were announced tomorrow. Mine works, it will be almost the same as whatever comes out next, it has most of the bugs worked out, and it's ACTUALLY HERE. I'm not waiting on the unsure. And I'm typing to you from it right now. Feels great.

Don't like it? Buy a PC. Apple loves being the sole proprietor of their tech. And they love making things that you can't upgrade. That's Apples fault, not mine.

(Did I mention I didn't really want to drop the money on an overpriced macbook? Goes to show you how much I like Logic as my DAW of choice.)

Have people thought about the fact that Apple refers to the slight processor speed bump in the MBP as the "late 2011" model? I reckon that means it'll be a fair while until the update, otherwise it would be one of the shortest turnarounds for a MBP ever

Why? This certainly won't be an "early 2012" like the "early 2011" was.

HP are releasing ultrabooks and "sleekbooks" with ivy bridge in 13" and 14" varieties. They are available now but doesn't say which specifically processors. Presume it's the 35W variant that could fit the 13" MBP..

I disagree.
I'd wait for the new model (if l had the time and didn't need a new laptop).
Each to their own.

Sorry, forgot that everyone reading this thread wants a new MBP and doesn't like any advice to the contrary, keep on downvotin'

I disagree as well ..

I'm not saying that what you bought is a bad laptop .. Neither am I saying that it will lose its quality after 1-3 to months when the new ones come out .. It will still be a great laptop to use for at least 2 or 3 more years and you have no reason not to be happy with it ..

BUT, I think that anyone who doesn't NEED to buy one right now would be making a mistake if he isn't willing to wait for a few more months .. The redesign and retina display rumors are huge changes that only happen every 4-5 years and it would be a shame to miss for being impatient ..

Sure, there will always be something better around the corner but the changes above come in every "lap" and not in every corner ;)

P.s. I don't want a PC :p I will buy the next MBP the moment it comes out whether it is redesigned or not ..

P.s. (2) I'm not the kind of guy who sells his laptop every year and pays something extra to get the new one ..

It's not your stance that people are downvoting, but just the fact that you're giving your own opinion and people are disagreeing.

If you felt your purchase was overpriced and still bought it, then no, you have no logic or reason. Judging from your inability to wait a little bit for a new release, you have very little of it.

There is nothing non-upgradable about the MacBook pro compared to other laptops. Ram and HD, even optical drives can all be swapped in and out. And that also suffices to demonstrate your lack of technological knowledge as well.

Congrats on your poorly veiled and reasoned buyers defense/remorse post. Try again!

its crazy that all the big pc companies are coming out with news on their ivy bridge laptops and nothing from Apple. Come on..., throw us a bone here or something.

I agree wholeheartedly. I'm waiting because it is worth the wait and I don't NEED something right now. I want something right now though. The moment the next MBP comes out, I'm buying it.

I'm losing faith. I'm getting the feeling that June is too soon, only about 230 days since the last update.
I also think that June is too soon to get Retina displays into the MBP.

Listening to some of the voices on this thread, I think that we'll both see the MBP in Late July or August, and we probably won't see a redesign or Retina until next year.

At this point it makes more sense to wait then to buy a MBP, provided you can wait. I'm not sure if faith has anything to do with it, and I'm 99% what ever apple will do, there will be a lot of complainers that they didn't go far enough with the redesign.

People get so worked up over what apple is expected to do, that when they actually do it, they're disappointed. More often then not, the newer model is just a small incremental improvement on the prior model. That's my expectation and I'm looking forward to Ivy Bridge. If they throw in a better battery, retina display, kill off the optical drive, that's all icing on the cake. My #1 expectation is that we get an Ivy Bridge based laptop

I don't care what thy do... as long as it has a new screen.

So I'm typing away on my 499$ Gateway laptop... thinking to myself just how much the screen sucks.

I was perfectly happy with my 1366x768 res crap LCD panel until I replaced my iPad with the iPad 3rd gen...

Now I want to claw my eyes out every time I turn on my laptop.

Any kind of upgraded screen on the new Macbook pro will = my ordering a 15" on launch day.

Frankly I don't even care if it has ivy bridge. (of course it will...)

Just give me a retina (or at least near-retina) screen please!

Leave it to apple to give me the worst kind of device envy...;)

I don't think so, since the buyer's guide counts minor speed bumps as updates.

The 2010 MacBook Pros also got a minor revision in autumn, yet the 2011 models were released roughly a year after the original 2010 models came out. Both times (2010 and 2011), the new models were released shortly after Intel released the CPUs.

I guess we'll see the new models either in may or at WWDC. The latter would make sense for the purported redesign.

I got my 13 MacBook 2010 model up for sale I just got 750 for it I bought it for 1350 so Iam going to loose 600 plus the wait is it worth selling it or hanging on it to moreover what are the chances percentage wise of a redesign or even USB 3.0 this year.

Have you tried the current high res (1680x1050) 15"? It's night and day better than 1366x768.

Yeah, the high res 15'' is very close to being retina, even if you have it on the lap. The 17'' even more so, since it's even further away from the eye.

I've seen some people with their 1600x900 on a 13'' screen, for me the high res macs are optimal in terms of text size.

Of course one can do the retina thingy instead, since that doesn't change the text size. Now, at this point I don't think I want 4x as many pixels to stress my GPU and CPU. This would really increase idle/low load power consumption, and kill battery life.

I tried the highres mac at my friends house, and it's nicer than my Gateway craptop. (or any other laptop i've tried lately)

I guess I'm spoiled my my new iPad... I want something that knocks my eyelids off.

Well there could be some major changes, what if the new 13" Pro is released with the option for high-res antiglare which myself and almost everyone on here with one has been asking for. Since that's the biggest fault of the 13", the damn annoying reflections in the glass. I know I'd be annoyed if I just bought a 13 and the new one is announced with that option. Sure I could afford to trade/upgrade for the new one, but not everyone is in that situation on here.

I can see your point, but I don't really 'need' a MBP right now... So I am willing to wait until the 2012 upgrade. I just hope there are some major upgrades worth waiting for, because if it's just another processor upgrade ect; I'd of wished I'd bought the MBP 2011 back in February :apple:
