it's clearly just maintenance and prep for WWDC. not sure why everybody gets so worked up! haha.
Actually its for Fathers day stuff.

I too fell into the category of being worked up because I'm rather anxious to upgrade my 2010 13" MBP. I'm running very low in space, and its slower and smaller then I want. I'm wanting a faster 15" MBP at this point.

Still WWDC is under 3 weeks away, I waited this long...

we will see when its down again

you are very clearly waiting for a new MBP, evidently? :)

ahh too bad! what model will you be getting?

You got me ;) my first MBP, I might be 30 but i feel like a small child now haha

i figured with your April 2012 sign on date on this forum! well congratulations on the plan to purchase! if i had the $$ i would be too!

15" hi res. I've been saving and waiting since the turn of the year when I decided the 13" is too small for my needs.
good choice. 13" was always too small for me too! is CPU/RAM an issue for you? or just the stock

This is why. Look at all of their logs for extended maintenances. Always either RIGHT before a release or the day of. You can't argue with that. Not even wwdc prep ever took this long.

Yeah i wanna say goodbye to windows and last year i didnt have enough to buy an apple and now i have, and i needed a machine so thats why.

And actually i still have a 2009 laptop with opensuse installed on it :p that machine was also around €800 and €900
you've been spending big on machines lately! now that you are going Mac - you will not need a new one for at least 3-4 years. :)

I smell a possibility of a Thursday or Friday release? If not... Wwdc >.>.
i'm sorry, i don't agree. WWDC for all apple products

I'll be upgrading the RAM, CPU I'm not bothered too much between the low end and high end. It all depends on what model is being offered with the high res screen.

I think that's the high end model so I'm expecting to pay a little more

yes RAM is very easy! good choice.

i think if retina is introduced, it will have a fairly large premium (as opposed to the current "hi res" apple has).

I think they should have the release at WWDC, and have the MBP, MBA, iMac, and Mac Pro all sitting on a table that is below the stage, and then Tim walks out and says let me introduce you to some new friends and all this smoke comes out and the computers all rise up on the table in the middle of the stage.

More importantly now, what "Back to School" offer does everyone think they will have with these new products??? Hopefully not just a $100 App Store card... :apple:

Personally I'd love the 100 app store credit if you can use it for the Mac app store - id love to be able to pick up Logic Pro for 100 bucks

I like the idea of a gift card. I have no need for an iPod as I have my iPhone. Although I could sell a new iPod touch 8GB for more than $100 on eBay...

Have you guys not learned to be happy with what you get for a gift, nomatter what: giftcard, ipod, cashback.
Just accept it and remember you get it for FREE, son don't be like i hope this or that.

I think it's wrong just to buy at specific moment just for the gift.

Why is that wrong? It's taking advantage of the situation to maximize the value of your money. Unless you have so much money lying around that taking advantage of offers like these is "immoral" then I see nothing wrong. If I buy a MBP for $1700 and they offer to give me a free iPod, then that's about $250 I shaved off of my MBP if I sell the iPod.
