Right. Only true for UK for this specific model. It's still not a percentage discount, it just happens to be 14% for this model.
But anyway, the original point was that it was the same Educational price both online and in-store. Can you confirm that for the UK as well?
No it's 14% (give or take) for all Macs in the UK with education discount. Just worked it out. If it's not 14%, then it goes to around 12%. Of course this could be different for Canada, but what the poster said (about it being 14%) was correct.
And yes I can. I've asked in store when I came close to buying the 2011 MBP in Feb and he confirmed it was 14% with university identification. The same with the iMac as, again I was going to buy it in-store but online education store provides a 3 year warranty which is an online only thing.
That's the only difference in the education pricing in-store and online. In-store is 12 months warranty but discounted Applecare at around £25, online is 3 years repair coverage warranty.

In regards to the 13" specs, if that is truly the Pro then what a bummer, 1280x800 makes me disbelieve it. UNLESS Apple have merged the 13" Air (with retina like today's Macrumors suggests) and the alleged 13" leaked pro spec is now going to become the new Macbook at a cheaper price.
It would make sense as the MBP in that form factor sells around half of their current Macs, so as discussed there is definitely a market for it.
It wouldn't make sense to wait until WWDC to launch that. That isn't even the same as Feb 2011 as that provided new technology, this one is just a spec bomb, pure and simple. I think it's real, but it is no longer the Macbook /Pro/. I think we see a Macbook (the leaked spec), Macbook Pro 15" and maybe 17" and then the Macbook Air 11", 13" line.
The new Macbook price stays at £999 while the Air stays at £1100 and becomes /the/ Apple 13" darling.
