is anyone going to wait and see if there's a 13" mbp selling with retina display in august? i don't know if i can hold off another 2 months but i know i'll regret getting the new 13" this week only to find out the retina display one is released in august! oh dear dilemmaaaaaaaa :(

Probably not. Most of us aren't beholden to a single feature. I'm not buying it, but that's not because I'm obsessing over retina display.

This company is shot. Now they are beating the dead Siri crap into the ground.

Corp. denial is a killer.

You do realize that this company is trading at 580 a share and could very easily be 750-800 at this time next year? Yeah... this company is really "shot"

Did they mention if the RAM will be user replaceable or not on the retina MBP? I want to order one, but I'm worried about the RAM.

Possibly a silly question here but how do you upgrade the HDD and remove the ODD on the macbook pro? (not the new thin one) does it not have a removable battery compartment? or do you need to dismantle the whole thing?

Does anyone know when Amazon start selling the New Macs?

I am going to America 30th July? I live in the UK and would be buying 15" Retina Mac there. Will Amazon be selling it by then?

where did august come from? I did not hear that mentioned?

oh just a thought really aha!

I dont see them releasing a retina 13 inch until at least the next major refresh, which we of course know will not be in August. I dont see them releasing another new macbook model in just under 3 months....

ah very good point ahah, i agree when it's said like that :p

I'd be pissed if the 13 inch came out in August. What would make it take longer to come out?

oh i have no idea really - just contemplating what could happen

-

guess i'm gonna hit the higher end 13" mbp this week or somehow find the money for the 15" retina display! :)

is the 15" portable enough like the 13" is?

I was going to get a 13" retina if it came out, but the 15" retina stole my heart and is going to empty my pocket. lol

If you guys really want a 13" retina. I would say it /could/ be worthwhile waiting until August.

The analyst who called a 'third line' predicted there would be a 13" in August because it took them longer to work out cooling in the 13" model. He got the first half right, he could have got the second half right.

Conversely, it could have been a controlled leak to him, and the bit about a 13" retina is conjecture added to the leak. It does seem odd though.

Think I am going to try get the 15" retina depending on the GBP price, and if I can convince my parents to loan me the £200. I had the £1400, but I think it will be £1600 with the 14% student discount..

Unless of course Apple are kind for once and realise that £1850 (no discount) price point may just be a /bit/ too high. Very very unlikely however given they sold the high end 15" for the same price.

I feel like the would have mentioned the 13in in the keynote if it was true and then would have said, available in August.

but why on earth would they announce that it's released in august? it'd just kill the current 13" mbp sales cos most people, surely, would hold off to buy the retina display one?!

I feel like there would be legal issues, or someone would try to make it a legal issue, with releasing a 13" in 3 months.

Retina will not be available for the 13" for at least a year.

Apple is pushing towards the 15" as being for the pro user.

I would recommend people going for the 15" New Retina MacBook Pro though.

That Mac is future proof, 13" will get Retina next year.

Oh thats a good point, however didn't Apple do the exact same thing with the unibody Macbook and 13" Macbook Pro a while ago?

Was there any mention of Resolution Independence? Because without it,
the letters on the new hi-res screen will require a magnifying glass to be seen.
