I'm interested in seeing how the retina will do at non native resolutions, as you'd most likely have to step down a notch in a few games, especially with just 1gb of vram.

11:08 am New Macs bought starting today, update to Mountain Lion will be free. WWDC devs get near-final developer preview today.

Quickly made a little table w/ a comparison of all of the specs for the Air and Pro:

Hoping it starts at £1700 here. That way 14% student discount takes it down to JUST within my budget. Not gonna happen though so I'm setting myself up for a fail.

A higher res on the 13" would of been nice but still, we can't have it all.
I guess Apple want me to buy the higher spec MBP

The base model new 15 inch cost the same as the high end old 15 inch, so what was the price of the old high end 15 inch? Over £1800 ish?

I'm a bit undecided regarding which model to get. On one hand, the price of the new MBP is a tad more than I was hoping to spend, but then again, a few hundred more for something that is truly state of the art at the moment could be a good investment. I'm thinking I'll keep my new Mac for some years to come.

I also feel that a minor spec bump to the regular design is less than what I want now that I'm splurging anyway.

As far as retina goes, I'm not too excited, but then again, I'm not that into the graphics that I know a lot about it. But as I understand, programs and apps need to be "retina native" in order to look decent on a retina display, and since this is a recent breakthrough, I guess we'll have to wait quite a bit for this to become somewhat of a standard with others.

But will it be possible to adjust down the resolution on the retina, so all "old" programs will look decent on the screen until they are upgraded to function with the retina display?

Pleasantly surprised! However, there are only two USB ports, of which only one is USB 3.0? Can someone confirm this? That would be a bit of a shame.

Also, the soldered RAM thing is concerning. However, if Apple offers BTO of up to 16 or even 32GB at non-outrageous prices I will be happy.

Can't wait to get some more info on this.

ps. If only I had money to buy this!!! :(

Do I REALLY have to wait until tomorrow to buy with the new educational discount/perks? I WANT TO BUY IT NOW!!!

Also, will it run games slower than the best old MBP because of it's display? Will I care? lol.

This company is shot. Now they are beating the dead Siri crap into the ground.

Corp. denial is a killer.
