Here we go again... Exactly *what* flak? The 13" is Apple's #1 selling MBP.

I am agreeing with you, I own a 13". There was thread a last month or in feb about peoples complaints with the 13", specifically how its not really a pro and all that. I think the 13 is plenty pro and love mine and want Apple to keep it around so when it comes time to upgrade I ca get another 13". I personally am not ragging on the 13 I love it.

Yeah, I know. :)

Personally, I don't care if they strip the "pro" name from it. I don't need Apple to tell me what a pro is. (Or people here doling out free advice :D). My only criteria for the next 13" design is:

1.) It has a faster CPU/Graphics
2.) I can get inside it to upgrade it (Unlike the MBA)
3.) Battery life is the same or improved.

I'm pretty easy. (Also, I set my expectations low. :))

Same here. Portability with more power than the Air is enough for me.

Seems like we are in complete agreement. I also don't care if the drop the pro moniker I just don't want to be forced to choose between a 13" MBA and a 15" MBP, I really don't use my Air as it doesn't suit my needs and I really really don't want something as big as a 15 I just don't need it.

options

Beside the redesign,i would like the option of aluminium black bside silver or more colors and the backlight of the keyboard also, like yellow,red,green...

One would be enough i think. Having almost all ports on one side would aesthetically look good though and quite convenient too.

true, thought it depends on what they fill the space where the ODD was with. The reason all ports are only on one side is because the logic board doesn't reach the other side:

All I need is a PROPER battery life (I.e. 8 hours plus) and 3/4g built in. As a portable device why hasn't such basic design criteria been addressed. I'm keen to upgrdae from my Nokia Booklet 3G, which is a 5 year old design, but Air's fail on both counts.

Analyst is a strong word to describe your link...

Cata-alyst was the word I first thought when i saw it LOL. He does have some good points, but no luck, I wish I could do something like that from here in Japan but I'm too busy staying alive working and I can't keep up with any analysists or trends here. It's like being in a bubble.

Do you think he's right about the MBA 15" ? (looking closely at the photo I guessed its a he LOL)

Well it was posted for counterbalance, devils advocate. I have been saying that there will be blade like MBP, but this guy (cat, whatever) is saying "definitely not" on his trends/prediction forum.

i don't know but there must be a critical mass of opinion out there with various thinkers and analysts, but when I posted that the MBPs will be blade like the admin closed it so what gives?

Do you think this guy (cat) is right about the MBA 15"?

Two things that will help the redesign if that is what it is and aside from the usual suspects of SSD and ODD changes;

1. 3G / 4G connectivity

2. Spend some of that blooming fortune you have at Cupertino creating some cheap and available USB 3 / Firewire Thunderbolt adapters so I can use the darn port for something other than TB display! (And then this addresses the Firewire legacy folks etc.)

I dont think he knows ****, but I would say that it sounds more likely, or logical than your previous thread, it feels like a better step to introduce a 15" Air for those who desire super-portability than ruin a solid Pro line by disabling upgrade-ability on RAM/HDD, maybe even the ODD should stay, to allow those who still need CD's to use it and for the others to make good use of an extra HDD space via a drive caddy.

But that's exactly his prediction, not sure what exactly it's based on but he has some quite detailed reasoning going beyond the average analyst in the area.

I hope he's right and I am wrong. I do agree with him on this however but when i posted it it was locked. Some people have all the luck but not me.

I am getting a 17 incher no matter what happens to the Air series but if Apple make the MBP a girly man machine it wont be a Mac. Hello HP Envy or DELL Precision (both allow an extra plug and play SSD bay complete with caddy already installed) - ie two drives without any excessive install costs or special tools needed to get the machine open and if Mac doesnt embrace this then I wont buy it at all.

That will be your choice ofc, for me theres no way Im going back to a windows laptop, and theres no way Im going for a Hackintosh solution. So my worst case scenario is that apple screws up the next release so bad that I feel like the late 2011 top end might be a better option (if they put them on sale when next gen comes) but I doubt it will be that bad. :)

Im figuring to wait for the new MBP or buy 1 now (i get 20% off @ my work)
What is the best option? I kinda need it this month, but i figure when i get the 1's avaiable now i will regret it when a 15" MBP in the Air version come out..

Can any1 give good advice?

I am hoping this doesnt happen. This trend guy says it wont. I predicted it will unfortunately because Mac like to have a closed system and not let people make their machines better themselves.

But if he is right then you can get your choice of 15" MBP or 15" MBA and actually this really makes sense for Apple Mac! I will be happy and buy a 17" normal fat MBP, you will be happy and buy your 15" normal fat MBP, and the lite-consumer people who just want a computer with a big screen will be happy too because they will have their 15" MBA wally boxes for facebook and to look good at cafes - so either way Mac makes money! See?

By golly I think he (the cat) is right. Sharp analysis actually.

Well I found it pretty sharp and contrary to my own predictions and those here. It was well reasoned and a nice format and if you read those links you will see the reasoning. Then perhaps you can do the right thing and critique the reasoning and conclusions rather than getting your panties in a twist. I am not going to post copyrighted material here without the authors permission so if I find an interesting link I'll post that instead.

You gotta agree with that reasoning, pretty sharp - and if he is right the 15" MBA will be selling like hotcakes.

Just so we are clear, you're not fooling anyone. You aren't analyzing anything, you are speculating. Not that anyone else is doing anything more than that, but at least we acknowledge that. Also, stop plugging your "blog".
