Perhaps with 2 fans (vs the 1 in the 13" models) and the larger 15" body cavity, they could fit in the 35W i7-3612QM CPU that people are hoping go into the redesigned 13" MBP. I have no idea if it's possible lol, i'm just kinda writing out loud. I guess if it's not possible, they could also just take an i5 35 W Duo-core and underclock it so the TDP goes down to fit it into the 15" MBA but still have a higher frequency than the 13" MBA. Anyone else have any thoughts on which processor would go into a 15" MBA?

MacBook airs have small batteries so I don't think a 35W processor would really work. They will just wait until the ULV processors are released.

If ethernet is the only stumbling block to thinness it could easily be handled. Just make a "mini-ethernet" port, just like the mini-DisplayPort and throw in the adaptor.

Or use a USB -> Ethernet adaptor like they currently do? That is slow but I assume USB3 will fix that? Ethernet to thunderbolt is definitely possible but it would have to daisy chain.

I really wouldn't be surprised if the ethernet port disappeared, I use it everyday but could live with an adaptor.

Any new rumors about release date, etc? My late 08 is on its last leg. It needs to retire. Law school hasn't been good to it.

I know what you mean, my 07 15" MBP has been on life support for the last couple of years. I've resigned myself to a June refresh earliest as that's when the dual core variants of the Ivy Bridge chipsets are going to be relaesed. If it comes sooner great but i'm not holding breath.

Not expecting anything revolutionary like retina but a resolution bump has been way over due. At the very least the 13" should be 1440 x 900 standard with 1680 x 1050 as a configurable option and the 15" should be 1680 x 1050 with 1920 x 1200 optional.

Could both the MBPs and the iPhone 5/new iPhone come out during WWDC?

I'm only speculating though.

Not the iPhone, Apple has always previewed the new iOS a few months before the iPhone launch, and iOS6 is going to be talked about at WWDC just like last year.

I thought the iPhone 5 was already out?

You're technically correct. iPhone 4S = 5th generation iPhone.

And here's my understanding:

Since it's the 5th generation iPhone, the next one will NOT be called iPhone 5. They will simply rename is to "iPhone" just like "iPod Touch" and "iPad". Identifiers will be "Mid-2012, or Late-2012, etc."

wwwwwhat, chimera is needlessly bickering with people and trying to create conflict?!

2012 IB MBP 15" predictions

From reading on the IB announcements, I get the impression that the 2012 15" will be comprised of a low end entry model with just the integrated HD4000 GPU and one with a discrete GPU reserved for the high end. That would actually be a bummer as it would mean that to get significantly better GPU performance compared to the current lineup will require getting the high end!
Just my 2 cents, but hope I'm wrong.

TBH,i'm not really sure if new redisigned macbook pro is worth of waiting, especialy because Ivy Bridge runs hotter than Sandy Bridge. Also there is some speculation about Ivy bridge issues from Fudzila (Don't laugh,i know they are not great source of information, but i heard same in some other news articles.I quote "Unfortunately, it looks like all is not well in Ivy Bridge world, and to make things worse we heard a few other things but we'll leave that for another article.

Also i don't like idea of making macbook pro thiner because we will probably lose spot for second HDD if they kick out optical and make them thiner, which will cause greater operating temperatures. Also,i think that new mac will cost significantly more than late 2011 model if they put integrated SSD,more ram and Hi res screen. It's ridicilous the fact that Apple charge extra 4 GB of ram (8GB total) 200$.Then imagine the price of Apple integrated SSD,not to mention Hi definition screen (called retina display).Prepare for some serious price increase. My opinion is that 15" inch model will cost like 17",and they probably stop making 17".

Just had a thought. Given the number of people that have upgraded their existing MBPs to dual drives, if Apple does eliminate the OD (which I am perfectly okay with), they could still save room, but officially support dual drives in the 15" and 17" models (if they keep the 17" models, like I hope). If they were to do that, though, I think they would need to release the new models with Mountain Lion because FileVault (and other features) would probably need to be updated to fully support the dual drive setup.

That Fudzilla source is so vague, saving it for another article is as good as "we dont know what to ******** about right now".

Every Macbook Pro will be an evolution of the previous, and every change will be appreciated by some and not by others.. for one it will go forward. It might not necessarily be good but will pave the way for future development.

SSD and RAM prices have dropped significantly and given Apple's favorable pricing in bulk, it may soon become feasible for them to include this without any dramatic price movements.

I can also assume Apple wishes to retain current screen resolutions because they are quite well suited for the respective screen sizes. Text on my 15" Hi-res is borderline painful to read over extended periods of time and while a 1920X1200 would be nice..

Oh gawd I surely hope so. Thats one of the reasons I'm not totally crazy for a redesign. It may look sleeker and all but losing the ability for a second drive bay is gonna be a letdown for us Pro tweekers. And having soldered RAM is gonna make a lot of people throw a fit. :D

The way things are beginning to shape up, I would say the following:

May 2012 - updated iMac (silent update, no redesign)
June 2012 (WWDC) - OS X Mountain Lion announced, redesigned MacBook Pro released (or MacBook Pro/MacBook Air merge)
July/August - OS X Mountain Lion released

Are you just going around to every thread and copy/pasting this nonsense?

Ok this is why I'm not going to bother wasting my time on macrumor's forums anymore. I create a thread about my thoughts on what the next 15" MBP will be like, and some "genius" moves it to an existing thread with 86 entries and counting, guaranteeing along the way that it will get lost in the discussions!

I posted in wrong thread. And btw whats your problem ?! U have some serious issue with brain damage or what ? Do i need your permission to post or to send posting approval authorization to Apple ?
