I think the 1983 season had some of the most beautiful car of any season. It was just after major rule changes banning ground effects. The variety was nothing like we see now.

Maybe with the engine changes in 2014 we'll see some unique and hopefully great looking F1 cars.

formula1.com:
"Ferrari
Fernando Alonso, P5
Felipe Massa, P8
Ferrari struggled in Hungary, and were never as fast as Mercedes, Lotus or Red Bull. Alonso pushed through to a damage-limiting fifth, but afterwards Ferrari were fined 15,000 euros for forgetting to switch their DRS software from qualifying to race mode. That meant it activated three times when he was more than a second behind the car in front, though subsequently the team simply told him when to use the system and the advantage he might have accrued amounted to less than a second in a 102-minute race. Massa had trouble with Rosberg early on and thereafter suffered poor balance as a front wing endplate was impaired."

wow. they used to be able to cheat better than that...

Especially when Schumacher was there. Nobody could touch Schumacher...

Always had cheating in F1. Those world championships decided between Prost & Senna come to mind!

Then of course the team orders (when none were allowed).
Gear box changes to push Alonso up the grid and Masa back down.

So true. Jean-Marie Balestre treated Prost like a long lost son. There was no attempt to hide that bias.

I could never understand the team orders for Schumacher. He really never needed them. Of course I think that was before they were illegal.

Jim Clark and Dan Gurney. In those days you could see the drivers' faces! Nice pics.

So maybe we hear what's happening with Kimi before Spa? The more I read, the more important it seems it will be to be on a team that builds its own engines because of the 2014 changes.

It would thus seem odd to have Alonso move to RBR. The longer this goes on the more I think Kimi stays put and Ricciardo goes to RBR. The big question mark is if Massa hangs on to his seat and if not who will replace him.

Raikkonen back to Ferrari?!

A Finnish newspaper is claiming that Kimi is on his way back to Ferrari for 2014. I thought that was the one place he couldn't possibly go.

There is also conjecture that Alonso would go to Red Bull and partner Vettel.

This is kind of mind blowing stuff. Both moves would be great. Maybe a refocused Kimi could bring Ferrari back and win another WDC. Could Alonso avoid another McLaren 2007 like debacle with RBR? I hope these moves turn out to be true.

Kimi is not a Ferrari kind of driver. They want someone (like Schumi, Alonso, etc) who will be a team member and help develop the car. Kimi is a show up, get the drive done and leave kind of guy. I also doubt very that Alonso would go to RBR to partner Vettel. He wants a team that will be focused on him winning another title. Ferrari is his best bet for now.

I agree with you which is why I found this report from Ilta-Sanomat to be so crazy. I would have thought Kimi burned almost every bridge there was in Italy ;) And with new engines for next year it's apparently important to be with an engine constructor so why would Alonso want to leave Ferrari? And why would RBR want to ruin a good thing with Vettel and a compliant but competent number two driver? But strange things happen in F1...

Kimi at RBR is far more likely, and palatable.

You think he would have a better chance than Alonso? Personally I think Alinso is the better driver.

No, I think Alonso is better too. It would just be interesting to see things mixed up. But now everyone is denying that Ferrari is considering Kimi. RBR for Kimi is more likely but the longer this goes on the more I think it will end up just being Ricciardo replacing Webbo.

Agree. But where will Kimi go? I'm doubting he will stay at Lotus.

That's a very good question. It seems like RBR or bust for Kimi. He can always stay at Lotus, they'd fall all over themselves to keep him. It's certainly a better option than anywhere else. Force India? Williams? He'd be crazy to consider them.

More likely outside of F1 if he can't get a winning seat.

Multiple UK news outlets are reporting that Daniel Ricciardo has been signed for Infiniti Red Bull Racing for 2014 so Kimi's going to Ferrari or staying with Lotus.

Kimi may have to stay put at Lotus. Maybe a return to McLaren would work for him if they can do something about Perez' contract. I think he and Button would team well and there would be no clear #1, which was probably the sticking point for RBR. Ferrari would be no different while Alonso is there.

Sadly this just means more dominance for finger boy if it's true :(

I think Kimi will walk on Lotus unless they can give him a car that will challenge. McLaren could be interesting, but I think more likely at the expense of Button over Perez. He is turning into quite a moaner these day's. I can't see them wanting two older drivers. One up and coming alongside an established driver is more likely.
