I still wonder about Kimi to RBR, mainly due to how it could affect the team dynamics. Weber is a nice guy, but he's clearly not a challenge to Vettel. Kimi could be, but you have to believe RBR will continue to treat Vettel as #1 both because he'll likely have his fourth straight WDC in hand and Mateschitz loves him. RBR saw what Alonso+Lewis did to McLaren - do they want to risk that with Vettel + Kimi?

Lotus F1's problem has been cash, but the infusion from Infinity Racing Partners Limited and some larger sponsorship deals might be enough for them to continue to afford Kimi's services.

I also agree Massa probably is done at Ferrari. If nothing else, Ferrari needs a reliable #2 finisher to help them in the Constructor's Championship. Yes, they get a nice guaranteed minimum from the FIA for being Ferrari, but the monies paid for being #2 in the championship are a fair bit nicer than #4, I imagine.

And I don't think it will be Giancarlo Fisichella based on the job he did for them in 2009 subbing for Massa. ;)

I agree with you about Kimi and RBR. But apparently Vettel and Raikkonen have a decent friendship now. That of course means nothing if Kimi starts beating the golden child. I can see Vettel pouting and RBR being conflicted and torn apart somewhat. It wouldn't be be good for RBR but it would be great for the sport. That kind of drama is what draws in fans.

It would be the first time we really get to see just how good Vettel is against WDC talent. Same for Kimi.

Agreed. That 1975 Ferrari was gorgeous! The Ferraris from the 1970's were beautiful starting with the 1974 312T

I love a lot of the 1970's cars. There was a lot more variance in design back then. The cars didn't depend on downforce nearly as much. It was mostly mechanical grip and so there was a lot more variety. The early Brabhams and the mid 70's Shadows were nice. The 1974-1975 seasons had many good looking cars with their huge air boxes.

This one, the FW-14B was a beautiful one from the 1990's

The 1993 car was great looking too. Senna's McLaren from that year was pretty, before the ugly early raised nose era. I could talk about F1 car aesthetics all day ;)

Yeah baby! Those old cars just looked soooooo much better than todays. If you've got some more pictures please post. Kind of partial to the old Lotus livery....JPS that Stewart and Fittalpaldi (I think) drove and then there's the Tyrrell 6 wheeler. Loved that car!

Here are a couple of shots my father took at Watkins Glen back in the early 1970's. He even got them autographed :)

Looks like we are getting closer to finding out who will replace MW.

Australian Daniel Ricciardo has a chance to stake his claim for a Red Bull seat next year at this week's 'young driver' test at Silverstone.
Ricciardo, who races for Toro Rosso, will drive for Red Bull on Thursday as part of a tyre-testing programme.

The BBC say Ricciardo is getting some time in the Red Bull at Silverstone. I bet Kimi is gutted.

Looks like he didn't help his chances with a spin. Too much pressure maybe?

Ricciardo never got any time in the Red Bull, right? But he did impress enough in the STR to stay in what is apparently a two driver competition for Webber's seat. It's anyone's guess now. I'd still like to see Kimi get the RBR drive for two or three years though. He's not going to be there for that long. He'll get bored, especially if he wins a championship.

I want to see that inter-team battle with Vettel. I think we'll find out during the August break.

all praise the racing gods (and Red Bull money):

It has been confirmed in the afternoon that Red Bull head Mateschitz struck a deal with Ecclestone for the Formula 1 to return for an austrian GP in 2014

at last after all those "new" gran prix in exotic oil countries, energy drink money brings back one of the "old" location

But which race will they drop? Isn't Russia starting in 2014 to? How many more races can they squeeze into a season.

I just hope they don't drop any of the European races. Although if they never race in Valencia again that would be great. Any race in the far east that's half attended can be dropped.

The Concorde Agreement limits them to 20, so Austria would be the 21st. The seventh Concorde Agreement has yet to be signed, however, and Ecclestone has said that he expects this new CA to allow more than 20 races.

How about a rookie event once a year? Each team can enter just one driver. Driver can not of raced in a full F1 race before. Points don't count towards championship. The circuit could be different each year, and it could be used for new Tyres etc. for the big boys?
Then if new circuits prove successful, they could become a race venue the following season.

Come on, someone, anyone, step up and prevent Vettel from dominating the rest of this season! I have this sinking feeling we are going to watch a repeat of the 2011 season :(

Sadly I think your right. All the others are just going to take points of each other whilst finger boy drives off with it.
Hopefully tomorrow Grojan can take him out at the start!

well it just figures that the ferrari is complete crap. when i didn't root for a ferrari driver they were unbeatable.

GO LEWIS!

puuu-uuuuussshhhhh fred. push!

Ferrari was invisible today. Very disappointing. There are a lot of races left. Mercedes needs to throw all it's resources behind Hamilton. If he can consistently finish ahead of Finger Boy he has a real chance.

It's late and I just read the above as Ferrari were invincible! I thought were we watching the same race!

I'd love to see Hamilton mount a challenge, but still think the wins will be shared between too many drivers to stop finger boy.

Yeah, you are probably right. Raikkonen could win a couple, Hamilton a few, Rosberg one, Maybe Alonso one. And Vettel the rest. And that will make it four in a row for Finger Boy :(

Vettel came in third today but his gap to second place actually increased <sigh>

Grosjean penalty was crap. :(

The Ferrari is crap.

Cheers to Lewie/Merc. :)

Cheers to Lotus/Kimi/Grosjean. :)

And a belated cheers to Fernando Alonso for pushing that train wreck of a car as far as he has. ;)

Boooo... to the "summer break"... 3 more weeks off.

And time for another installment of cars we love:
