Kuroda taken out of the game due to possible injury.....

I am not liking our prospects for our season this year..... But, I hope Hal sticks to the $189 million plan even if we suck this and next year. So we can get the luxury tax down from 50% to 12% so we can be aggressive again for the 2014-2015 offseason.
Wont they have to stay under 189 to be under the tax.

We've only played 2 games....

It's a long, long season and as rough as the first 2 games have been to watch who knows what's going to happen? Injuries are probably going to effect the other teams in the division in some way as well. I'd rather have ours at the beginning.

Also of note - the Toronto Marlins are 0-2 as well. If the sky isn't falling in Toronto, maybe it's not falling in the Bronx either. :D

The Red Sox are used to playing all of their games in the cold. The Yankees take some time.

Yeah. I just hope they don't cave into pressure from the unrealistic expectations of most fans. It will suck to have potentially two down seasons, but it makes sense to get the tax down to 12% from 50% so that frees up money to sign good players instead of washed up vets.

Without Jeter, Granderson, or Tex I don't think expectations are that high.

No, but there might be pressure this offseason to spend big because every year without a WS win, it's a complete failure. We might as well have missed the playoffs and played below .500 baseball( according to some fans anyway).

I doubt we make the playoffs this year. The wild card will come out of the west.

Not like you guys are going anywhere this year either.:D

I'm not under any delusions. But I like the youth movement on our team, and I always enjoy some good Yankees handwringing. ;)

Unlike you guys, I've suffered through actual hardship seasons, and thusly can take joy in the small things. Like Yankee Stadium being a ghost town by the 7th inning on opening day. Hehe.

I think it was a ghost town more because it was 20 degrees when the game ended.

damn, you could write a ****ing novel with all the excuses the yankees fans are throwing out here after losing a whole two games. :D:D:p

what's the matter, can't handle losing two games in a row to the lowly last place red sox?

on a side note, i'm quite annoyed that the Sox who haven't made the playoffs in 4 years have their third game of the year in April on NESN and the Bruins/Devils game two weeks before playoffs and the Bruins debut of Jaromir Jagr is being relegated to NESN+. Gonna be hilarious when the Bruins pull triple the ratings the Sox do tonight.

I don't think we are going anywhere this season, and certainly not until mid May. I don't have high hopes for this season.

That was a very interesting decision by Victorino....

I don't get that shift on Cano.... I thought Cano was pretty good at spreading out his hits?

The Blue Jays are desperately trying to not go 0-3... They keep getting big HR's, but then blow it. They have an 8-6 lead right now.

You may recall the Giants won the World Series with the PED user sitting at home watching the games on TV. All I know is he never would have made any of the critical defensive plays Gregor Blanco made during the Giants' postseason run. What a resilient ball club they were in 2012.

If Lincecum returns to his normal form and Posey doesn't break his leg again, they should be playoff bound again despite the expected heavy competition from the Dodgers. Two trophies in three years and we're still the underdog! That's what I'm used to, so no point in changing now. :D

You have to admit we did some pretty improbable stuff in 2010 and 2012. Texas was no fluke and they went to back to back WS. And Detroit is no slouch, either. Both of them will be dangerous and neither are teams I ever wish to face in WS again.

And LA is predicted to be the one in NL west and it's too bad we have to deal with them. I think we can make postseason but if LA takes it all and wins the WS, I won't be surprised one bit.

We don't get the respect, even with Mays, Bonds, and Lincecum and the fact that we have more players and coaches in Hall of Fame. If Lincecum is on, we have one of the best RHPs in last decade. If Zito is on, we have a basically unhittable left hander. Posey should be in top form. Our hitters are experts at small, uneventful baseball play and taking out opponents in low scoring games. And don't forget our manager.

San Francisco is still down from losing in the Super Bowl and not showing up that day for most of that game. We also have to get the freak back to top form to really make somebody like LA fear us. We have Cain but it will take him and Lincecum to balance out LA's Kershaw. This city has a lot of work ahead of them this year.

Still need Old Man Andy to save your butts. :p

Don't care how old they are. Just as long as they can remain healthy and get the job done. If Mo was 100 years old, but was still getting 60 saves with a 1.80 ERA, I will take that. :p

Another injury... Nunez out now with that HBP... Probably a broken forearm like Granderson..... Our young guys are getting injured.....

YOOUUUK!

Oh if anyone is curious on Sterling's HR call, it was, " A nuke from Youk".

That's the thing, hope you guys invested in several pallets of Ben Gay and Icy Hot. :D

My Dad and I have been endlessly amused by Yankees fans rooting for Kevin Youkilis. It's really the gift that keeps on giving.

I guess we'll see how good this Toronto All Stars team is tonight.

What else are we supposed to do?

Personally, I think he's a dick, and the fact that he's married to Tom Brady's sister is beyond annoying ;) - but once he puts on the pinstripes I'm certainly not going to root against him. It's one of the sucky things about being a loyal fan. :(

I have a feeling this season is going to get worse before it gets better, but as bad as things may seem we're going to get the injured guys back eventually and then we'll have a much better idea about how good (or bad) they really are. I have no illusions of a championship this year - I just want to watch competitive, fun baseball.

At the rate we are going Rivera already pitched his last game.
