They didn't "kind of" decide to move it because they thought the ratings would be better - they decided to keep the venue amid a scheduling conflict because it's iconic and the logistics were already in place. Again, the ratings would have been phenomenal in April, May, June. If they believed those two weeks would be beneficial, the NFL would have moved it in prior years. It would be a ratings winner either way. All it did was drag out an already lengthy process.
This. Most casual followers would go for playoffs over the draft. After the first round, average Americans have no idea who any of the players are.
