Y'all see my avatar at left? I was born in northeast Ohio, so I was a Browns fan for a long time. God bless the undying optimism of those who still are, but I can't take it anymore...and last night was just another example.

Did we need a good cornerback (Justin Gilbert)? Yeah...but it was arguably not a dire need. We could've really used another good receiver opposite Josh Gordon, so what did we do? Trade down from #4 so Buffalo could take him. Duh.

Then we go and pick Johnny Manziel, a guy with a rep for being immature. Hmm...playing with Josh Gordon, a phenomenal talent only one bad drug test away from a season-long suspension...what could go wrong?

Oh, well, never mind! They just announced that Gordon has failed another drug test, and will probably be out for the season. Gee, that Sammy Watkins decision isn't looking so smart now, is it? And knowing that about Gordon, did we take a receiver in the second round? Oh, of course not.

But back to Johnny. His other rep is that he scrambles too quickly from the pocket. If we wanted that in a quarterback, we would've kept Tim Couch. I just feel it in my bones -- especially now that the Browns have taken him -- that Manziel is going to be a bust. Johnny is the new Tim Tebow. If he doesn't grow up fast, he might even be (shudder) the new Ryan Leaf.

I'm sorry to say my disgust with the Browns keeps getting reinforced over and over again. Last year when they fired Chudzinski after one season, that was the straw that broke the camel's back. Then I had to watch them run that farcical coaching search which resulted in us getting the current guy only because pretty much everybody else backed out.

The only way this can get worse is if Donald Sterling is in the market for a football team.

Anyone have a good guess at which team is going to pull the trigger and draft AJ McCarron? I know I'm biased with my opinion but I'm surprised that he hasn't been drafted yet.

I'm a fan of the Dominique Easley pick. Never going to get that kind of talent at the low picks without some risk. Garoppolo is a head scratcher for me, though. Picking a QB that high who was rated behind some guys still on the board? When we need a TE badly? BB must not have thought the TEs left were worth it, but I dunno. I would have snagged Mettenberger or McCarron later and been okay with that.

I'm fine with the 3rd round trade, it's typical Patriots value adjustment. Just feels like we have a gamble, a project/back-up and nothing in the 3rd. I feel this New England team is close, so hopefully something pans out in the 4th.

Then again, I feel like I'm always frustrated after our picks and it tends to work out. We'll see.

Unless I missed it, is there any reason why the Texans didn't draft a Quarterback?

I mean all we heard all off season is they need a franchise QB and even O'Brien was beating that drum.

Its great they filled out some holes in other positions but drafting Clowney isn't going to help them much when they're unable to move the ball with no franchise QB

I have seen a few articles saying that the Texans are working on a trade to get Ryan Mallett from New England. But if that trade doesn't happen, the Texans can get a hell of a deal on AJ McCarron, Aaron Murry, or Zach Mettenberger just to try and develop as a future top QB

I wouldn't be surprised about Mallett, I think he may have potential and of course O'Brien would know his potential from being a coach there.

Still I think its odd to see probably their biggest need, go unmet in the draft when they had such a great draft position.

The Texans do need the help at QB but on the other hand, their defense on paper could be a POWERHOUSE the next few seasons. JJ Watt, Clowney, and Louis Nix III....

Kind of hard to have a powerhouse defense if you're constantly playing from behind. Powerhouse defenses take risks, risks you are less likely to take when playing from behind.

Agreed. The Texans should be looking for a QB in the draft. What if the Mallet deal doesn't go through?

Agreed. They do need some more offensive firepower. A good QB to develop and a possession WR.

I need to add that I'm a defense guy. My dad was a defensive coordinator and linebackers coach and I played defense since jr. high so my entire life I have always used the phrase "Defense wins championships, Offense sells the popcorn"..

Also speaking of possession WR. Anyone have some opinions on Kevin Norwood?

I was just reading on ESPN that the Texans GM hasn't talked to New England about a trade for Mallett http://espn.go.com/blog/new-england...ett-talks-with-patriots?ex_cid=espnapi_public ... This article is from yesterday (5-9-14) but a lot can happen today

That may have been true in decades past but the NFL is a QBs league right now.

It looks like the NFL is serving Aj McCarron a nice big slice of humble pie.. I've been reading the articles about him that are now being published and I would love to know what he said during the interview process to piss off the NFL..

Mr. Alabama is that wide receiver Seattle drafted from Alabama any good ? Kevin Norwood ?

He is going to make Wilson's job at QB easier. His nickname here in Alabama is Mr. Clutch. Not the fastest of all the WR's in the draft but in my opinion he has the best hands. There is a few highlight videos on youtube of him. Roll Tide
