Love the draft so far for the Texans except where Minnesota decided to get smart and move ahead of us to nab Teddy Ballgame. Mark my words, this guy is going to be a winner and with play makers like AP, Cordarelle Patterson, Greg Jennings and Kyle Rudolph. Plus with Norv Turner running the show, you know he's in good hands.

Agreed. I think Bridgewater is a good fit in Minnesota.

We'll find out really quick what Bill O'Brien wants on that first pick. Experts (no sources, just from Mike and Mike) seem to think only Garappolo and Carr are the only two players going in the second. Maybe now is a good opportunity to draft more D? I'd take a flyer on Mallett for a third round pick. The third round pick, I would assume would finally be a quarterback for sure. That being said, I don't often understand Rick Smith.

Really, there biggest need was a quarterback and there was a couple like Bridgwater for their taking.

I don't think Carr is a good QB and so who else will be their franchise QB?

I think Minnesota getting Bridgwater in the 32nd pick was an absolute steal and that just upgraded their offensive significantly. Its a great move for them

You don't fill needs with the number one overall pick. You pick the best player.

We'll see quickly whether or not the Texans admit defeat and draft Carr. I would hope they don't and go with Nix.

I disagree, you don't win championships without a top notch QB and there were several. They could have traded down for a bunch of picks to fill more of the holes and still got one of those QBs

Now they have a great athlete who has a reputation that he's not all that motivated and no franchise quarterback. Not the best start for the Bill O'Brien era imo.

Who? Manziel, Bortles, and Bridgewater were huge question marks. You don't draft QBs number 1 anymore.

Warren Sapp had good commentary on this "not motivated" fallacy. Sapp played with a number of players who had reputations of "not being motivated". JJ Watt will make Clowney motivated. Arguably the best defensive player in the game.

If the Texans draft Nix in round 2, you're talking sack after sack after sack.

There were no NFL ready quarterbacks, so I expect a trade for Mallett or a McCarron draft in round 3.

I think that the Texans are trying to build such a good defense like the Ravens did in 2000 with a mediocre Trent Dilfer at QB.

lol, I'm glad they didn't pick Manziel. No I think Bortles lower in the draft (though he didn't last that long) or Bridgewater. I don't mean picking Bridgewater first, but trading down for a ton of picks and then grabbing him like 15th or something.

Time will tell if he starts dogging it on games that the texans get blown out on and that could occur more often depending on who else they get to fill in their needs.

McCarron may be a good pick, but I think his success was more from where he played vs. pure raw talent. Mallett isn't bad. I'd go with either of them over Carr.

Smith is either hit big when it's obvious or fail and flutter when it's in the crunch. I've lost faith in him and he should have been hauled out with the Kubiak regime (JJ Watt was a Wade Phillips guy). We still have needs at safety, nickel, tackle, DT, and O line and I doubt we draft Carr, if he busts early this city couldn't handle another bumm Carr for 5 yrs. the damage his brother did is irreparable. If not Garrapolo I'm thinking S/CB LeMarcus Joyner or DT/DE Hageman. Even DT Nix or OT Moses would be a solid pick here.

Better yet field some of those trade offers and get more picks out of it.

We'll see. As a B1G guy, I'm a huge fan of Bill O'Brien. He made HUGE strides at a broken Penn State program. Honestly, I wish this was next year, because I love Christian Hackenberg as a quarterback.

Yeah I take B.o.B as a no nonsense kind of guy and that's exactly what this team needs. No more of Kubiaks constant coddling and "its all on me" speeches. I can't wait to see him in action.

Agreed, I'm hoping the best for him. He's really stand up guy and a great coach.

Which isn't all that bad. I don't think there are any franchise QBs in this draft but a bunch of good QBs who could have some longevity. I'm okay going into the year with Keenum, Yates and Fitzpatrick. If we can get Mallet even better.

Right now my top 3 is all defense; Hageman, Tuitt or Joyner

I agree - Landing in Houston was great for Clowney, JJ Watt is one of the hardest workers and most intense guys in the game, who doesnt take a play off. I'm sure that work ethic will rub off. I'm sure offensive coordinators and Offensive line coaches in that division are having nightmares at the prospect of facing those 2 on the same line.

So ESPN didn't get the memo that Manziel went 22 and was showing his Cleveland presser.

Stevie Johnson to the 49ers for a 4th Round pick.

That trade is A-OK!! with me. that guy use to kill the Jets even with Revis covering him back in the days.

And a great pickup for the 49ers as well, he is ready to produce right away and is still relatively young. and it only cost them a 4th round pick in 2015 so thats a steal.

I had forgotten Seattle traded it's pick from last year for Percy Harvin..

Now they traded #32 in the first round for #8 and #32 in the second round. Not a bad trade considering there are plenty of good players left at positions Seattle needs.

Y'all think so? He's not a good cold weather QB, notch up 2 L's a year for Soldier Field and Lambeau. Just saying. He would have had a better chance if Houston would have pick him in the 2nd. No cold weather games in the division.

If thats the case notch up a bunch more losses at home, Vikings are playing outdoors this year.

Great pick by the Jaguars. Bortles has a lot going for him talent wise and he will be a hometown boy to hopefully put some butts in their stadium

----------

Great pick by Green Bay tonight. Not just saying that cause I'm a Bama fan but they need some HELP bad in the secondary. Hope HaHa Clinton-Dix works out

The Packer nation is thrilled with this pick. Hopefully we continue to bolster the Defense
