I thought he showed potential for that earlier in the season, and still want to believe that. But in the games in which the opposing teams pressured him, he's looked nervous and thrown picks -- three of them last week. He's promising to steel himself, and this week will be a real test, against Buffalo.

Still, he's better than Mr. Deer-in-the-Headlights, Brandon Weeden.

Agreed. While I think Hoyer is an improvement, I'm not ready to say that he is a top tier QB.

ok,ok, agreed. =(

p.s. the raiders are genuinely horrible.

the only way we can top this performance is to sign ray rice... the announcement of which i have been secretly awaiting/dreading for two days now...

I read that 4 teams may be interested in him, The Saints and Raiders are two of those 4. I think no matter how much money the raiders throw at Rice, he'd be foolish to go to such a dysfunctional team.

Epic matchup between Pats and Packers. But what stood out more were some really bad mistakes, but other than that both teams would have scored more but have been separated by a just a few points anyway. Either team could have won. Green Bay lagged on covering the pass compared to what I expected but Pat's overall D surprised me and they looked pretty good considering stopping the Packers at Green Bay.

Rodgers looked great except seemed to be inconsistent in red zone but by the time playoffs are here he will probably put any end to those types of problems. While they had a great win today, I am still not convinced they could stop someone like the Cardinals in the playoffs. If the Seahawks regroup they may be the second best in NFC behind the Cardinals. Not playing well in red zone like today will not help Rodgers get far in playoffs.

Marshawn is in his last years and it's a contract year.

I saw it reported today that Lynch is saying he may retire after this year. Or that he could follow Tom Cable if he gets a head coaching job somewhere. I thought that news was so strange. He's been dominant in Seattle and seems to have some years left in his career so either of those options just seem really odd to me.

Adams dropped 2 easy TD passes in the red zone. That is all/

I wouldn't say they are done, but they aren't looking too good now. I think the Packers are currently the team to beat in the NFC.

Agreed, and with the Packers beating the Pats, they seem to be one of the few NFC powerhouses.

Watching that game I felt like the Packers dominated and if it wasn't for the Patriots redzone stops this would have been a blowout. So I guess kudos to the Pats defense for holding them to field goals, but the Packers dominated in going down the field at will.

If Rodgers and company can get that red zone thing figured out, they will be the best in the NFC hands down. I hated it when my Niners were almost the best but had inconsistent issues with the red zone. Kap would take the team all the way down the field and look great but was decidedly hesitant and inaccurate in the red zone. I don't know what it is with some QBs, but they just fall apart numbers wise in that red zone.

In the middle of the field Rodgers looked unstoppable so I think it could be an adjustment issue with that and it could go either way. If Rodgers ends up in Super Bowl again he will have to be perfect in the red zone, but we have seen many years where he never had any problem anywhere and his numbers at QB shows him to be the best ever. If the Pats have a D that can stop teams in the red zone like they did against Rodgers I would say it's the Pats who are the team to beat. Brady looked excellent in his game with Gronk and harkened back to how I remember him with Welker.

It may also be hard to get past tough NFC defenses who can guard that red zone so Green Bay would have to weather those first. I am still leaning towards Arizona but we will have to see how they play out the rest of the season. It's great that Green Bay beat the Pats but maybe more credit goes to GB's D but that does not make Rodgers the QB he can be (and usually is) with all those yards there are only 2 TDs and this is not typical of him. Any other QB this would be great but not so for team going to challenge #1 playoff spot in NFC. It will have to wait to if Seattle gets back to form which I think may happen and just in time to rout 49ers. :(

The talent this year, like last year, is still heavily tilted towards the NFC and what great power we see emerge from the AFC Championship Game may end up a ton of points down from the NFC Champ again in the Super Bowl. Until then it's fun to see the Colts, Broncos, and Pats go to the air and put on a flashy show before the brutal D style play typical of the current top NFC teams comes piling on top of them. Good D always beats good offense.

I'm not sure what to say about last night's game. I guess if I were to offer an opinion, I'd say Rex was pissed that he had to bench Vick and use Smith. So in response he basically removed him from the game by running the ball.

Once the Dolphins adjusted and figured out they'll not really let Smith throw the ball they loaded up the box and run blitzed them.

The Jets did play hard for Ryan, but after this loss, I have to think they'll not be doing that any longer.

To be fair, they were still squeaking through even after Miami stacked the box.

2 missed field goals and a blocked punt allowed was the difference. Even with Geno being Geno, they still had a chance to win the game.

That said, at this point, winning any more games is counterproductive. :D

I was actually a jets fan last night, because I wanted Miami to lose, so they could sink further down in the standings.

I think at this point, though for the Jets, they'll probably lock up the #2 draft pick, the Raiders will have #1 for sure. :D

Too bad it's one of the weakest drafts ever and Idzik couldn't pick talent to save his life.

Looks like they're #5 right now.

He'll pick Winston and the circus will begin anew....

I was at the game last night and even though the Jets were picking up yardage the fans were getting pretty restless watching run play after run play after run play. Other than the fact that I got great seats it was another one of many brutal Jets games.
