I hope this one works and I was hoping for NFL ex-head coach from somewhere but look at Madden who was coaching one of our local junior colleges part time and then got a call to work next door in Oakland as the Raider's head coach within a few months. Junior College to Super Bowl and I don't know how many can claim that.
Aaron Rodgers. He's a bad man ;)

Defensive line coach to head coach. Quite a jump. The coaching carousel has slowed.

Huge jump, I don't get this one. I'm sure he's a fine coach but he doesn't have the track record to show he can handle all of the demands of a head coach.

I have a pretty neutral feeling about the 49ers, but I have a really bad feeling they will regret their decisions this offseason...

...Especially if they're interested in Marc Trestman at offensive coordinator.

Ha.. since the 49ers are one of the team I absolutely can't stand... lets hope this is horrible for the next few years! Teehee...:D:D:D:D

looks like one of Macagnans first hires for the Jets is going to be Gene Smith.... you can't make this stuff up. this is the guy who brought the jaguars gems like Blaine Gabbert in the first round and in 2012 picked a punter with the his 3rd round pick. :(

Wow, Rodgers was a junior college player? I thought he went to Cal? I think Brady went to Cal for a year or semester early on. Aikman is UCLA and there's a pretty good history of University of California players from any one of the nine schools who had an NFL career. Our most famous export to NFL is Chuck Muncie who "was" Cal and was our norcal hero regardless of where he was. Other than him the most often mentioned name from the Bay Area was Reggie Jackson in his tenure with A's.

Update: OK, just under two years from junior college (2002-2003) to pro as he left Butte College, did short stint at Cal (2003-2004), and then went pro in 2005. That's pretty impressive as we are talking about the highest rated quarterback in the history of the NFL. The only record he doesn't have (or on track for) is what Russell Wilson has which is to be rated 100 or better in first two seasons as a pro starter.

Brady went to Michigan. Never went to Cal...considered transferring there, but never went to Cal. Rodgers spent one year at a community college (I think) and then went to Cal.

Looks like John Fox is about to take the job as Bears HC.

Sounds like, for whatever reason, Fox interviewed in Chicago, went back to Denver, then Bears GM Ryan Pace went to Denver as well. Fox and Jack Del Rio have the same agent, so I wonder if the delay is somehow tied to that.

Gary Kubiak is also headed to interview for the Denver job.

Sounds like Denver is the one job Kubiak would leave Baltimore for. Makes a lot of sense.

Done Deal. 4 year contract for John Fox in Chicago.

Unrelated. Jerry Jones has said the Cowboys will struggle to retain BOTH Dez Bryant and DeMarco Murray. I don't think this is a hard decision at all. Dez Bryant gets the big contract.

I know it's close to impossible giving a huge contract for Russell Wilson is in the works but I wouldn't mind seeing Murray in the backfield for the Seahawks.

You think? I'm not disagreeing with you, but the cowboy's successes this year are due to the fact that they were able to run the ball. While both are incredibly gifted athletes, its hard to see the cowboys being as successful w/o Murray.

It's 50/50.

Take Dez out of that offense and there is a HUGE talent drop at WR. Having a premiere WR puts pressure on the defense and makes it easier for other guys to get open.

Murray has been crazy good this year, but you can make an argument that the entire O-Line has improved. He also has a fumbling problem. The question they have to ask themselves is can they plug another RB in and have the same kind of success? You expect a little drop-off, but how much?

I would certainly agree from a "What have you done for me" standpoint, this is 50/50... That being said, there are too many overpaid runningbacks for me to honestly want to overpay one. For that and that alone, I feel Dez is the better signing.

I agree, but two years ago Dez was good, great even, but the wins were not there. 2014, the cowboys dedicating more energy and plays on the run, the wins came.

I'm not saying they should keep Murray and let Dez go, but I think without a solid running game the cowboys will have a tougher road ahead of them.

This is certainly true, as well, however a lot of that can likely be attributed to the improvements on the Offensive Line. Zack Martin is an incredible addition to the Cowboys.

Look at the changes made to their O-Line in the past 2 years, though. I agree with AustinIllini on this, with the huge contracts running backs have been given and with their relatively short shelf-life in the NFL, the safer bet is Dez.

I also think though that either would be a huge loss for the team and nobody would blame them for keeping Murray. I'd love to see Dez on another team (namely MINE). :D

No kidding. I want him back.

Rodgers is extremely proud of his junior college. Today he wore a Butte hoodie during interviews and he always introduces himself as Aaron Rodgers, Butte Community College for the pregame broadcasts

Their O-line was fantastic this year. Murray is a superb talent, but he had help. He's also had injury issues outside of this year.

Yup. If you can only keep one, it's pretty easy: it has to be Bryant. He's a generational talent, and RBs have shorter careers and precipitous drop-offs. They've also proven to be available in surplus in late rounds. Murray also had 400+ carries this year, they really rode him into the ground.

It's not fair at all, but that's how it goes. Which is why I never fault players for holding out/taking the most money in the NFL.

I have sadly come to the conclusion that the Packers are going to beat my Hawks 33-21

I've had calf strains - bad ones, like I suspect what Mr. Rodgers has. Healing time is measured in months, and even slight/light workouts can aggravate the injury. When it does start to heal (which it isn't close to yet), the calf becomes tight beyond belief, there's no flexibility or freedom of movement.

Aaron is simply not mobile. Seahawks don't need to worry about him moving at all. He'll be OK, but not good enough to win in Seattle.

Should have been able to wipe the frozen tundra with the Cowboys, but it wound up being close - that was at home. Can't see repeating that on the road.
