I've had calf strains - bad ones, like I suspect what Mr. Rodgers has. Healing time is measured in months, and even slight/light workouts can aggravate the injury. When it does start to heal (which it isn't close to yet), the calf becomes tight beyond belief, there's no flexibility or freedom of movement.

Aaron is simply not mobile. Seahawks don't need to worry about him moving at all. He'll be OK, but not good enough to win in Seattle.

Should have been able to wipe the frozen tundra with the Cowboys, but it wound up being close - that was at home. Can't see repeating that on the road.

I've been watching some of ( well all of LOL ) the Hawks coverage and they think Rodgers is exaggerating the injury.

And I think he is too.

Its been reported that he has a partial tear of the muscle, so its not just a "simple" strain, not that its simple.

Rodgers is extremely proud of his junior college. Today he wore a Butte hoodie during interviews and he always introduces himself as Aaron Rodgers, Butte Community College for the pregame broadcasts

That's cool that he's advertising this school. I did once remember a recent playoff game where one of the players mentioned a high school. I don't know if this means he went straight from high school to the pros or that he had a very short college career and sees himself more as a product of that high school.

Let's say the player is a QB who was a star at his high school for four years and then sat on the bench for most of one or two years while in college. In that case I could see him being more attached to his high school. Some players reach their peak in high school and for scouts it's pretty much known they are a great candidate to at least get on the roster for a pro team. I remember Todd Marinovich here in California and he was such a high school standout (9,900 yards in one high school season) that there was no doubt he would go pro either straight away or after some college.

His personal life got in the way and it's a shame he didn't make it big and in some ways he reminds me of basketball's "goat" (Earl Manigault).

We better just hope for his sake that McCarthy does not pull a RG III on Rodgers and keep him in the game until he is not longer able to stand.

That's what a calf strain is... a tear in the muscle.

There are degrees of strain. Just a little, bigger, bigger, holy smokes...

Once it's torn, it's extremely easy to either tear it again, or keep tearing it further.

It is weird, because you are able to walk without an issue typically. Anything past that and you're at serious and immediate risk of injury/re-injury. So it messes with your mind a bit - "hey I can walk, I'm OK now" but nope.

Don't think that's gonna happen.

After looking at the forecast for Seattle I'm revising the score to 20-20 with overtime.

This game is going to be a ground game/fumblefest..

Wind advisory for Sunday with gusts up to 50mph
Up to 2 in. of rain.

This is what it looks like :

Oh. My. God.

What did the ownership just do to the 49ers?

Jim Tomsula is completely clueless. What the heck is he talking about in any of his interviews?

That's a firing waiting to happen.

Umm, real football 1970s style and possibly lower scoring if it's going to be that wet. Pretty miserable if it's that much rain and both teams know how to play in this mess. I have no idea who will come out on top.

I don't get the hiring either - Proof will be in the pudding, and he cannot improve the performance, there will be a lot of upset fans.

It will not be that bad. Right now, the upper wind seems to be WSW, placing Seattle in a clear patch, being shielded by the Olympics. There will be little if any rain during the game and it will be in the 50sF. This could be a disadvantage for the Packers, since they are currently adapted to FYNO temperatures on the field.

Green Bay has not lost a playoff game to Seattle. Seattle has not lost a playoff game in the Clink (Russell Wilson is 25-2 in Seattle). This ought to be interesting.

Man I've been reading those stats all week from all the sports people.

That's bad karma. It's going to bite Seattle in the rear end eventually.

Forecasters removed the rain deluge from the forecast ( the deluge has returned )and the winds are going down to around 20-30 mph.

The end zones are situated west to east aren't they ?

What's FYNO ? I would have liked to drive up to the game but man $1600 for a ticket is beyond my budget.

I think like last year, the NFC Championship will again be the real Super Bowl much like Sherman said and maybe even more so today. It's January and again it's the world versus Seattle. This is the time for you guys to show you are a dynasty and not a flash in the pan. With such a weak Packers defense there's no excuse not to score big against Green Bay at your stadium.

Now THAT's the start I wanted.

Lacy is doing great. The Packers can beat the Seahawks on the ground.

If the Packers can only break out of their red zone weakness.

Seahawks are getting completely dominated. I know people hate when others say this but the only reason why Seattle is still in the game is because of the errors the Packers are making on themselves. This game could be a lot uglier than it currently is.
