What surprised me, is they hired yet another defensive minded head coach. Their woes are on the offense.

I try not to think too much into these things. Usually, teams seem to lean toward OCs as head coaches, but it's probably better to just get the right guy for the job, regardless of side of the ball.

Hire a good offensive coordinator. I understand that's usually easier said than done and when you finally find a good one, they're plucked out from under you.

Having good offensive talent, especially at QB, also helps. A lot.

The Jets have a solid D, but zero offensive weapons. Doesn't matter how good the OC is if you don't have guys on the field who can execute.

Solid D? Oh, you mean the front 7.

A good OC can execute a strategy or gameplan to fit the skills of his current players. There have been many teams that have overachieved with a less than stellar roster. Geno has shown flashes albeit very little but he has shown flashes of having some NFL caliber talent.... With the right OC and the right gameplan geared to his strengths and putting him in the right situations. The Jets have Decker, Harvin (if they resign him) and Kerley, if they add Amari Cooper in the first round that is a pretty decent receiving core with the right OC and gameplan in place they can certainly do some things on Offense for once.

Well definitely. I think the Jets overachieved in Rex's first 2 years when he took them to the AFC Championship game. Once the running game and O-Line deteriorated, so did Mark Sanchez. And frankly, look at what Sanchez wasn't able to do with the weapons he was given in Philly. He still ended up making bad decisions.

I would love to see a system that would help them succeed offensively, but do you really want to move forward with Geno? There are plenty of positions where even slight upgrades in personnel would make a huge difference. That offense was absolutely brutal to watch. Showing flashes is one thing, but continuously making bad decisions is another.

No I definitely do not think Geno is the answer, but I am afraid we are stuck with him for at least another season. There are no QB's in the draft this year unless we strike gold with someone under the radar in a late round (like a russell wilson) but when have the Jets ever been that lucky lol. And as far as I know there aren't any QB's available via free agency or trade that are any more promising.

Nope. Going pro.

Doesn't it make more sense for him to finish college. You know over a lifetime a college grad can make $260,000 dollars more than a high school graduate (from a recent speech I heard from Hilary Clinton). Some say the payoff of a degree "can" be nearly a million dollars.

Doesn't matter he's already declared

I just wanted to flame the board for kicks. ;) But that's good news that he will be a pro. I hope we (Niners) can get him. Not that Kap is bad but it's always good to have some insurance.

More importantly I would like Denver to send us a present in the coach department! If not him, then we can take Seattle's D coordinator.

According to reports, they are going to promote the defensive line coach, Jim Tomsula, to HC. So no Quinn or Fox.

Pieces are coming together.

Niners name Jim Tomsula coach.

After eight known external interviews, including a second sitdown with one candidate, the San Francisco 49ers are staying in house.

Jim Tomsula, who has been the Niners' defensive line coach since 2007, was promoted to succeed Jim Harbaugh, the team announced Wednesday. Tomsula, who was the interim head coach at the end of 2010 after Mike Singletary was fired, led the team to a win in its final game of the season.

Defensive line coach to head coach. Quite a jump. The coaching carousel has slowed.

I hope this one works and I was hoping for NFL ex-head coach from somewhere but look at Madden who was coaching one of our local junior colleges part time and then got a call to work next door in Oakland as the Raider's head coach within a few months. Junior College to Super Bowl and I don't know how many can claim that.

It is quite a jump. I've heard that players love him. But you need more than player loyalty. I want a coach who can 'X' and 'O' with the best of them ... and I have no idea if Tomsula can do that.

Fingers crossed.

I have a pretty neutral feeling about the 49ers, but I have a really bad feeling they will regret their decisions this offseason...

...Especially if they're interested in Marc Trestman at offensive coordinator.

Muahahahah. That would be some awesome.
