I have to believe Chicago wants Dan Quinn, because they're sitting on their behinds not making any progress.

They aren't sitting on their arse.

New general manager Ryan Pace’s search for “the best man for the job” to lead the Chicago Bears takes him to Detroit Lions defensive coordinator Teryl Austin, who will interview Tuesday for the Bears' open head-coaching position.

A lot of teams really want Quinn but they can't do anything until the Hawks season is over and most of the GM's think this will take until Feb. because they think the Hawks are going to repeat.
So they have to do something. They can't wait too long.

And I might add the price for Quinn will go way up if he has back to back rings so I'm hoping he has another season with the Hawks.

There is going to be a few changes in Hawkville because according to reports Russell Wilson is set to be the highest paid QB in the NFL.
And he should be if he gets back to back Super Bowl wins.

Losing the coaching staff is not a good sign for Manning's return.

Where would he go and who would Denver pick up? Manning is not going to become a backup, he's still going to give you 10+ wins. This is an unfortunate situation to be in for everyone. With that many free agents, where do you go from here?

I suspect Mariota will stay at Oregon another year or two anyway.

Its a tough call, with Winston entering the draft, I don't think Mariota will be the premier QB being sought after. From ESPN's perspective, Winston is more rounded NFL caliber quarterback. Mariota will need time and work to get him closer to who QB's in the NFL play.

left on his own...

ESPN said mutual agreement, while he wasn't fired, I bet behind closed doors he was given an offer he couldn't refuse.

I think they don't want to lose Gase, letting Fox go allows Denver to promote Gase to head coach.

If Gase goes elsewhere, I wonder if Manning will be more tempted to retire. At his age, does he want to learn to work with a new head coach and offensive coordinator?

A step is a foot on the ground inbounds. It doesn't matter how graceful it is.

He took 3 steps after the catch, made a lunge for the endzone, and his elbow was down after being contacted by the defender. This all happened before the ball popped loose. The NFL rules have become so convoluted that nobody knows whats a catch and whats not anymore.

If I'm Mariota, I go now, because this is a really weak QB draft and he's a number one or number two overall pick. It's hard to know what will happen in the future.

I do agree with you, he's going to be near the top regardless if Winston is #1, and you never what what could happen with one more year of college.

A more interesting discussion is whether or not Cardale Jones should go to the NFL now.

It sounds like a stupid discussion at first, except for a few factors.
1) He is 22, not a young player
2) He has big game experience and real skills
3) He could be drafted later by a better team.
4) He may never be the number 1 overall pick.

If I were him I would consider going if I could be picked up by the Steelers, Patriots or the like.

Edit: I think the Pats may like Garappolo as their future guy. We will see.

Jones is in an interesting position. His incredible play in the last three games notwithstanding, any team that drafts him will still be taking a bit of a chance on a player with a very short track record. But any decision to stay and get more experience will have to be weighed against the likelihood of him getting the starter QB spot next season, since as far as I know neither Miller nor Barrett are leaving. Barrett's posture after last night's win suggests that there's a battle ahead.

Agreed. While Jones played great in his 3 starts that doesn't mean he will be a great quarterback in the NFL. Lots of great QBs in college have completely flopped in the NFL.
