Every year there's always some controversy surrounding who gets in the Hall of Fame but this year, I don't really agree with the selection. Of course all the finalists are qualified to be in the HOF but some are just more deserving than others. I don't see how Orlando Pace or Kurt Warner were not first ballot.

He'll get in.

Kurt Warner was so unbelievably good early in his career and he revived it late and brought two different teams to a Superbowl.

He'll likely get in sooner rather than later but still would have liked to see him get in because he's more deserving than some that were entered today. Just considering what happened during their time, the Greatest Show On Turf will all eventually be in it. With Faulk already in, I was expecting Pace to be in as well. If we're talking about shutdown tackles Pace is up there with Roaf, Ogden and Jones as best ever and they're already in - to me this should have been a no brainer.

It's prediction time. I'm going to go out on a limb and say that the final score will be Seattle 35 - 9 New England. Properly inflated balls will lead to 1 interception and 2 New England fumbles. Richard Sherman will return one of each for touchdowns.

Then again I could be wrong.

If that is the final score I will enjoy the huge bitch fest that will follow. I don't see a blowout like we saw last year. But I do think Seattle wins. Im saying 5 points. 28-23

2 weeks between the AFC / NFC championship games and the Superbowl is just way too long.

You might recall that awhile back (maybe 10 years?) they tried playing the Super Bowl 1 week after the division championships. It was a one year experiment, and I doubt it will ever be repeated. I think the fans liked it, but the bean counters didn't.

And so, the big day is here.

Let's just hope the referees don't mess it up with a bad call.

By the way, I think within four years, we may see a Super Bowl played Saturday night, most likely with a 1900 hours Eastern/1600 hours Pacific kickoff time. It would certainly attract an even BIGGER audience, especially families not having to worry about going to work/school the next day and better suited for an international audience.

And so the big day is here.

I am so tired of all the hype we have had to endure these past two weeks. If I never hear the words Katy Perry again.

I agree. The SB should be played on a Saturday. Need a day to recover.

Seattle faces some major obstacles when that Russell Wilson contract kicks in. This is their best chance to win the Super Bowl for some time.

24-17 Seattle

Sad news, the "First Lady of football" has died.
Ann Mara, the New York Giants' co-owner and widow of Wellington Mara, died early Sunday morning due to complications from a head injury suffered in a fall two weeks ago. She was 85 years old.

"I am sad to say that our mother has passed away," John Mara, Giants president and CEO, said in statement released by the team. "She has been the leader of our family in every way, and we will miss her dearly."

John Mara said Ann Mara slipped in front of her home in Rye, New York during an ice storm on Jan. 18 and had been in the hospital ever since.
NFL commissioner Roger Goodell released a statement later Sunday.

"Mrs. Mara was a tower of strength, dignity and inspiration for her family and all of us in the NFL," Goodell said. "Her family and the Giants organization have always reflected Mrs. Mara's competitive spirit, integrity, and wonderful sense of humor. Our thoughts and prayers are with John Mara and the entire Mara family."

The Giants were founded in 1925 by Tim Mara, who was Wellington's father. Wellington's nephew, also named Tim Mara, sold the other 50 percent of the team to the Tisch family in 1991.

Ann and Wellington Mara were married in 1954 and had four sons, seven daughters, 43 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. Two of the 43 grandchildren are well-known actresses -- Rooney Mara and Kate Mara.

Of the 11 children, three work in the Giants' front office -- John as president and CEO, Chris as senior vice president of player evaluation and Frank as the vice president of community relations.

Who else is a FA after this year? Wilson is obviously going to be the highest paid QB in the league so there goes a large chunk of their salary. Anyone on the defense a FA?

They just offered Marshawn Lynch $10 million per for essentially the remainder of his career. What a terrible mistake.

Normally I would agree with that. The guys 28. Almost at the 30 year old point in a running back career.

This guy is different.

Physically he is in excellent shape. He is not the kind of guy that takes the money and stops playing. I think he probably has 2-3 more good years left in him barring injury. It is reported that he will get a 10M contract to end his career in Seattle. That doesn't mean the contract will be for more than 2 years.

Lynch is the backbone of that running offense. Without him the offense goes nowhere.
On a side note he has thought about just quitting football. He doesn't like how it's run
Personally speaking I don't think any football player should get that kind of money though.

Sneider's a pretty savvy manager who knows what he's doing and he likes the guy.

"The Seahawks believe that Lynch, who has rushed for at least 1,200 yards in each of the past four seasons, has outplayed his contract, sources say. They want to reward him for his work."
"In addition, money will be tight for the Seahawks after Russell Wilson's extension. With that said, Lynch is the backbone of the offense and one of the biggest reasons the franchise made back-to-back Super Bowls. He's showing no signs of slowing down."

On a side note Dan Quinn will be getting into a situation when he becomes the HC at Atlanta :

The NFL has been investigating the Atlanta Falcons' use of artificial crowd noise in the Georgia Dome over the past two seasons, sources told ESPN.

For the fans of the other 30 teams this hype is very, very long unlike any other sport. Football is probably the equal of the NBA with its stars but it's nowhere near the religion that baseball is. I say play the dumb game of this otherwise overhyped sport and overhyped game on Wednesday.

Katy Perry, deflategate, Richard Sherman, and Marshawn kind of overshadows the game which becomes an afterthought after the two weeks. So many of the commercials have already been played because advertisers know people just don't care as much anymore. And the supposed big secret of Missy Elliot is already out. WTF, the NFL has become a joke and it's villains honestly make guys like baseball's A-Rod look like heroes.

You nailed it on the head. The worst part is the game is usually not competitive.
