Am I the only one who thinks Marshawn Lynch is an ass? He's an amazing football player, but still, an ass.

There are a lot of ridiculous rules in the NFL, but if you can't answer normal questions that everyone else in the NFL can answer, you're an ass.

I'm no fan of the Pats, but if Tom Brady pulled that crap, he'd be getting killed from coast to coast.

Agreed. His whole media phobia schtick is getting very old.

He stonewalled the kid that got to ask him a question - that was where he really lost me. I'm sure the kid was looking forward to the chance to ask him a question for awhile.

I understand he's uncomfortable, and the media is a pain - but interest = $ which is what pays him his salary. I'm sure he wouldn't have to talk to the media in the CFL or working in a cubicle somewhere. He also didn't help himself by smirking through the whole thing.

That kid must live in a bubble then.

I agree. I think Seattle has an attitude which may have been built up to boost the team or intimidate opponents, but it has gotten old akin to school yard bullying and it is ass-like.

But with Brady he is the persona of the NFL and is synonymous with the term professional football player the way Michael Jordan WAS professional basketball. With his 6th trip to the Super Bowl it's not unlike Jordan's 6 trips to the NBA finals and people put you on a pedestal but also under a microscope. I am not saying Brady has to act better than others on field and off field but for many non-fans out there who only tune in on Super Bowl Sunday, he's the only name that's a household word. When he's out of football and hung up his uniform he could easily run for Congress and win not unlike other sports heroes of the past.

Yup. and he would be just like any other congressman.

;)

Interesting factoid: the Seahawks are now .500 in the non-pre-season. They have won 319 regular and post season games, and have lost that many as well, since 1976. This is a first for the team, to be on the cusp of plus-territory.

As a reminder for everyone here, all reports critical of the New England Patriots and head coach Bill Belichick are:

  1. Born out of envy and jealousy. YOU wish your team was as successful
  2. Biased. The team is under a constant witch hunt from the league

Enjoy the rest of your day.
You are being tongue-in-cheek, right? Otherwise I'll have to agree with bigjnyc below.

Oh Please Patriots fans need to really get over themselves with this BS... nobody is jealous or envious of their team, people just genuinely dislike them, mainly the coach because of his pompous arrogant attitude..... and there is no witch hunt they just happen to be repeat offenders and are treated as such... Once you develop a reputation for doing something you lose the benefit of the doubt... So get over this everybody is jealous of us and out to get us nonsense.

...As for your link, it might SEEM that way, but Brady and Manning pushed for all teams to have the ability to modify their footballs the way each QB sees fit as long as it's in the rules. So...every team can change the balls the way they see fit. Pats changed them to the way Brady likes them. Still don't see a link between that and deflated balls.
I don't think we can deny that the rule change created a greater opportunity for shenanigans. The stats suggest 31 teams wisely chose not to seize it.

And now we find a locker room attendant took the footballs into a bathroom.

Maybe eleven of them had to take a leak. :D

I know! Stupid little kids with their excitement and innocence. Being ignored was totally deserved for being sheltered enough to even bother. Totally.

All jokes aside though whoever organized that should have known better. I don't know how it works but they should have kept that kid away from lynch's podium and had him go to a normal player

Yeah, I agree with you. Who knows what the details were, whether or not the kid chose Marshawn (they still should have been encouraged elsewhere), or someone dropped the ball.

I admit to having less sympathy for him because I have to deal with the media as part of what I do. If I refused or pulled the shenanigans he does, I would probably just be fired. It's part of the deal with the career he chose, he can just give canned answers like 80% of the other players do and he'd be overlooked. He makes it worse on himself by actually drawing more attention.

I want more players to mock the media. Media day is the biggest joke of sports. It's just a side show.

Almost all the media circus around the NFL is a joke.

Just a bunch of people looking to get their face on TV. If Marshawn had his way the only time the media would see him is when he's crossing that white line.

So be honest, do we really need a sports reporter anymore. With twitter and social media players can say what they want to who. This isn't the 1930's where we need a beat writer to get information.

By the way, I think the Seahawks win 28-21 for the following reasons:

1. The Patriots may not have a strong enough run defense to stop Marshawn Lynch. The Patriots designed their defense to stop great quarterbacks, not great runners.

2. Tom Brady is only slightly more mobile than Peyton Manning. And we all knew what happened to Manning last year when the Seahawks defense just mauled him.

Except Jordan went 6-0. 2 threepeats

He's been a lot more mobile this year compared with recent years; it's fun to watch. Nevertheless your point still stands.

In the last nine SBs, only one team has won wearing their dark (home) jerseys. However, in SB XL, Pittsburgh was the designated home team but chose to wear white for good luck, having won all their playoff games on the road.

agreed. and even with richard sherman they are still very strong. what i would like to know is sherman going to play?

and this is all speculation but i still like SEA over NE by about 20 but this is why they play the game.. anything can happen.

I just have one question for those people that hate Marshawn Lynch.

If he's such an ass WHY is his jersey the #3 top selling behind Russell Wilson ?

I don't hate him. I just think he's an ass. Tickets were sold to the media event and the interviews aired all over the place, including the NFL network. Believe me, if nobody watched, they wouldn't make a big deal about it. NFL fans, especially the ones whose team is in a Super Bowl care what these guys have to say. He certainly isn't donating all of the millions he makes to play in the league as protest, is he? As I said before, the NFL has a lot of absolutely stupid rules, but at the end of the day the people who buy jerseys and pay to see him play actually watch these interviews. Answering a few stupid questions is certainly a small price to pay, don't you think?

That said, it certainly doesn't mean he isn't a good player, which is why people want to wear his jersey.

According to the NFL shop, Johnny Manziel has the #3 selling jersey behind Peyton and Rusell Wilson. I guess that means he's awesome and a completely square guy, right? ;)

Also, I don't think you'd ever survive being a Yankees fan. Or a Patriots fan. All of the "hate" might be a bit overwhelming! :D
