And while the franchise is certainly chock full of free agents, I'd still argue that our home grown guys are the real fabric of the franchise. It's a shame that it didn't work out with Cano, but we have some young guys right now that hopefully will continue the tradition when DJ retires.

I was waiting for one of you many, many Yankees fans to mention that little tidbit as soon as I wrote it. Kinda glad it was you. :D

It's really amusing watching Yankees fans talk about Cano's greed and the sellout nature of his decision, though. While the rest of the Yankees look away and whistle.

This is the first time in the history of baseball that at the end of April, the a league's RBI leader, home run leader, and 1, 2, and 3 in batting average have all been on the same team.

Yet this team can't pitch, so they're under .500 :(

Go White Sox

Have to say that I'm pleasantly surprised by the Rockies so far. They are 22-14 and tied for the lead in the NL West. And Nolen Arenado has a 27 game hitting streak.

how many home games did they play so far?
when they were playing the Mets they showed a graphic that all denver teams win like 65% of their games at home and less than 50% on the road

They have played an equal number of home and road games, 18 each. They are 13-5 at home and 9-9 on the road.

I don't think you need a no-hitter to do that, our offense has stank of incompetence for awhile now.:mad:

Although it was nice to avoid the notoriety.
Haa as a true Yankee fan I only taunt the Red Sox when something bad happens. Not when they suck. :D Thats like kicking pushing somebody on crutches, not right.

Oh please, mediocrity has been the spice of life in the Bronx lately, so come off it. Mock us all you want, we just won another championship and our farm system is stacked.

Speaking of stacked, I'd be okay with trading some of those studs for Stanton. We need another power bat badly.

I don't know if I like this even division we have this year. It will be fun the last week of the season if it holds up. But other than that it is kinda boring.

The Rockies scare me more, as a Giants fan, than the Dodgers. I have a feeling it could be a 3 way race. I don't expect a 3rd WS in a relatively short period of time like a safe bet NYY or Boston Red Sox, but just to stay scary in the NL West is good enough and then postseason. I can't explain the 2011 and 2013 seasons of not making postseason after having won the WS. I am glad Madbum is still an ace on the mound but I don't think this year we can't rely on Lincecum and Cain who both showed recent no-hitters but fell overall from their past consistency and dominance. I think we are going to have a long term good hitter in Buster Posey.

what happened to matt cain last year

started off pretty good and gives up a bunch of runs in a game and that was it for the year

IIRC, it was more like Cain started off lousy, but pitched much better in the latter part of the season.

Unfortunately, the lingering effects of Cain's sandwich knife incident really affected him in LA today. His off-speed pitches were sharp, but his fastballs were all over the place.

Bumgarner is the real ace of the Giants' staff, but Hudson has been brilliant so far, even better than I expected.

If Cain and Lincecum can pitch like they did in 2010 we would have no problem taking out the rest of the NL West, that is assuming LA and Colorado don't hit like they have the ability to.

Generally hitting streaks don't last as long as pitching streaks so in a way LA is scarier that Colorado since LA's main thing could be their pitchers even though they can have great hitting. But when Colorado is on with their hitting then nobody, stats wise, can swing a bat like them. It makes for far more interesting TV and radio when sluggers win a game. If LA or Colorado go all the way it won't be a major surprise in 2014. NL West is exciting so far.

Boras rolled the dice and lost. Stephen Drew back to the Red Sox, pro rated 14 million for 1 year. The deal he was offered in the winter. Will only get 10 million.
The Boston Red Sox have agreed with shortstop Stephen Drew for the remainder of the 2014 season, pending a physical, two baseball sources confirmed.

He will make about $10 million, which is the prorated portion of the $14.1 million he would have received if he had accepted Boston's qualifying offer in the offseason, a source told ESPN.com's Jerry Crasnick.

Drew will be arriving in Boston later Tuesday.

Drew has been working out regularly and participating in baseball activities with a trainer assigned to him by agent Scott Boras. The expectation in Drew's camp is that it would take him not much more than a week to be ready to play in the majors.

FoxSports.com had earlier reported Drew's agreement with the Red Sox.
