it should be a lot more, and with the suspension of the Hitting Coach too
I hope you're joking. Did he break a rule? Yes. Is it a particularly serious infraction? No.

no different than corked bats..
Just wanted to drop a little Braves love in the thread
17-7 with historically good pitching, especially from the starters
Quite a surprise with Beachy and Medlin down with Tommy John surgery again
And with Minor yet to pitch an inning
Freeman is the real deal and has inherited the face of the franchise now from Chipper
Simmons is unbelievable at shortstop
Yeah, they still have their issues with BJ/Uggla
Heyward hasn't started hitting, but he is an asset in the field
Should be a good season again for the Bravos, just hoping they can play tough in the playoffs should they make it that far

i know they played the Mets 6 games, who else did they play? hard or easy teams?
Just swept the Reds
And they have hammered the Nats in 2 series

I think you may be confusing the use of pine tar for pitchers with something else (like Vaseline). Most pitchers use it to get a better grip on the ball (especially in cooler weather). Does anyone really think that Pineda was using it for any other purpose? It's really not a lot different than using a rosin bag to keep their hands from getting to sweaty.
I guess you don't realize how widespread the use of pine tar is in the MLB. It's used by the majority of pitchers, even the ones on your favorite team. The MLB is looking at possibly legalizing it so they can control it. You just don't see it because pitchers are much better at hiding it, unlike Pineda. Im not sure what the hitting coach has to do with pitchers; can you fill me in?
----------
You could argue that it's used to get a better grip on breaking pitches, which then possibly gives the pitch more break. That pine tar gives his slider more action. He was filthy in his first game against the Sox, then in the first inning (this past game) without the pine tar he gets hammered and his stuff wasn't there, then in the second inning with the pine tar his stuff was much better. Both nights were similar in weather conditions.
Do I think it's a huge deal, no. Do I think it should be used, no.
I meant pitching coach, he is in charge...
Bruce harper out till july
To be fair, Cano did say the Yankees didn't "respect him" with their 145 million offer. Enjoy the crapfest that is the Mariners. He should just admit he took the money. Don't say that the Yankees never respected you.Yankees fans yelling "you sold out" to Robinson Cano tonight.
LOL, I can't even. *helpfully points to their roster, their modus operandi, and the very fabric of their franchise*

Cano was home grown talent and many thought he would play his whole career in NY. That is where most of the outrage is. Not that he left for more money but that he turned down the tradition. He would have been treated like a king once Jeter retired. He's not being booed because the fans are angry about the "disrespect" comment. Telling any player that leaves the Yankees that they "sold out" is the height of hypocrisy, especially with the roster as currently constructed.
Truthfully, I actually don't think Cano is that far off the mark if he did say that. The Yankees spend like drunken sailors for a multitude of players every offseason. They offered injury-prone Ellsbury $153 million.
(And I say the same thing about the Red Sox's lowball offer to Jon Lester recently)
EDIT: And almost every player that takes the fat cash from the Yankees pulls the same BS and doesn't admit it's because it was the most money. Why expect that of Cano?

Doesn't feel so great, does it? Welcome to fans of every other team's world. Yankees fans complaining about this is rich, is all I'm saying.
Wasn't Murcer home grown.At least they're not calling him a *trader* !
But, yeah, I think it's all pretty stupid. I appreciate what the guy did and I definitely wish he was still in pinstripes. I also think that most real Yankees fans understand and those aren't the ones booing. I know he wanted 10 years, and while I'm glad the Yanks didn't give it to him, I can understand why he would think they should've. Loyalty has to go both ways.
And while the franchise is certainly chock full of free agents, I'd still argue that our home grown guys are the real fabric of the franchise. It's a shame that it didn't work out with Cano, but we have some young guys right now that hopefully will continue the tradition when DJ retires.
Has there been a generation that the Yanks didn't have a home grown superstar? I guess the few years between Thurmon Munson and Don Mattingly? Maybe the late 60's and early 70's after Mantle?
Wasn't Murcer home grown.
5 years I think. That was a stupid trade by the Yankees.Yes, and Murcer was supposed to be the guy that took the torch from Mantle, but how long was he on the Yanks the first time?
