ESPN is reporting that 2 NFL players lost fingers due to fireworks accidents over the 4th of July weekend. Buccaneers CB C.J. Wilson lost 2 fingers and Giants defensive end Jason Pierre-Paul had his right index finger amputated yesterday.

Very sad news for both players. However, I do have to wonder whether or not the fireworks were legal. Sadly, they probably were not.

Wow! That's crazy. Does this mean the NFL is going to have to start a player education and safety program regarding the appropriate use of fireworks. Wait, if the fireworks were illegal then does that mean both players are going to get fined and suspended. Remember, Plaxico Burress got in trouble for injuring himself with an illegal firearm.

Dallas and Denver sign Bryant and Thomas to matching 5 year/$70 million with over $40 million guaranteed for each. Both well below the Calvin Johnson number.

I am so relieved that the Broncos were able to sign Thomas. It would have been a big loss for him to miss camp and even some of the season.

Yeah, I can't imagine why a company wouldn't renew the contract for the biggest blowhard of the left on TV. Olbermann has a problem staying employed. I don't buy the NFL angle.

They were fine with him until he called out Goodell. Kinda like the exact same thing that happened with Bill Simmons. But it's hardly news that the four-letter network only asks "How high, boss?" when Goodell says "Jump".

Also: interesting that the Thomas and Bryant contracts were announced within minutes of each other and were remarkably similar deals, given the allegations of collusion brought forward by the NFLPA. I'd say that I eagerly await a week of contrived outrage over this based on little to no factual information on ESPN and the NFL Network, but let's be honest.

Brady is innocent... he just destroyed his phone because he wanted a newer model

Rigghhhhttt.. on the same day he is being interviewed..

He just needed that new cellphone the same day.

Maybe the old one got too inflated.

You know Pats fans are formulating their defense right now or they are cowering away after defending Brady so ferociously.

I would destroy my phone. The NFL has no right to it.

Not exactly the actions of an innocent man though..... Aaron Hernandez destroyed his cell phone to hide evidence as well. What is it with Patriot players destroying their cell phones lol :D

It's not the NFL's business what is on Brady's cell phone. Period. I'm glad he destroyed it. I'm a Cowboy fan, BTW.

The only fans who seem to care about this are New York fans who can't accept the fact that their team is irrelevant.

If Brady made just ONE call or text to anybody in the NFL using that cellphone then it's my opinion the NFL has a right to look at it since it was being used "on the job". If Brady want's to use a cellphone to communicate with people outside the NFL he should get a separate phone. I'm sure he can afford it.

I'm almost certain that is not collectively bargained. They can't take his personal phone, period.

are you serious? Everybody has been all over this story across the country. New York teams will never be irrelevant no matter how badly they play, New York will always have a spotlight. Plus you'll never see a New York game filled with fans from and opposing team like what happened to the cowboys in Dallas this past season before all the fair weather fans jumped back on the wagon.

If that is the case then the use of personal cellphones should not be allowed on the field or in the locker room. They are on the job and the NFL has a right to investigate without this sort of distraction.

The only reason this is a story is because of ESPN. No one should care. It doesn't matter.

Also, this is obviously not collectively bargained.

You're right about one thing here. You'll never see a New York game like this...at least not if it's a Jets game in the postseason

Yes you're right.. lets just look the other way every time a team messes with the integrity of the game... nothing to see here and nothing to care about....
