You have to admit that's a sweet looking car, though. I hope they crank the power and Alonso can show Hammy what it means to drive like a man.

yes, but so was the HRT (see above)![]()
especially after seeing it in action, i think it will be "just one of the dark cars in the pack".
i don't understand why with all the great livery possibilities available they (meaning most teams, not just mclaren) make cars that all look the same. you'd think they would understand the value of standing out during the race, but apparently they do not.
take a page form Ferrari for Senna's sake!
plus i completely hate the way they made the numbers (or didn't)
however, i think they will score points this weekend, but not the podium
They ideally should go back to Orange. I know the "McLaren Orange" wasn't exactly a Power Colour like Rossa Corsa, but at least it would be McLaren. That being said, however, they new cars don't look bad. They just may suffer from low visibility in dusk/evening races. I understand not wanting to bring out the Red on White chevron... that was so closely related to Hunt, Lauda, Prost and Senna. Plus the black may bring more heat to the engine and cause problems...
I think it's a step up from the super-bland Force India knock-off scheme they had prior.
PS I wonder how what the damage will be for Crashtor this weekend.![]()
Lets hope we see Lewis and Nico going for it wheel to wheel.
Well, ideally, Hamilton would make a series of really dumb mistakes, lose out to Vettel and Raikkonen, and be forced to retire after his ego takes a huge steamrollering and be fined and made to publicly apologize for foolish antics before losing all his money and having a Lindsey Lohan/Shia LaBeuf-esque meltdown, being left with nothing but as a spokesman for Casio watches. Rosberg would win, and in the next race Rosberg would be second behind Raikkonen. From then on, McLaren absolutely dominates, Ferrari comes in second in Constructors and Mercedes places last behind Manor. Then Bernie Ecclestone gets committed to an old folks home and an intelligent manager takes over. Jenson finishes the season very strongly and retires, leaving the spot open for Magnussen, who, this time out, isn't singled out and penalized by the stewards.
...absolutely impossible, but hey, you know, a man can dream.![]()

I fully expect Hamilton to pass Rossberg almost immediately.
Same. I just want to see some racing. Hamilton is at his best fighting through the field. Driving off into the distance, does not make for a great spectacle.

he's not the overall best driver, but he is certainly the best driver/car combo. I can't even begin to imagine what alonso would do in a merc.
How? Does he always start better than Rosberg? Always?
Because he is a better driver

The races tend to be televised behind Mercedes. Not a bad thing as nothing to watch up front, its scripted
True, but it would nice to see some racing up front for a change.

+1
Agree Alonso is certainly one of the best of the current crop of drivers (although he maybe a little passed his best). I think Hamilton is certainly up there as well. But a lot of the newer drivers are certainly doing good things in mediocre cars, so unless everybody races the same car (like Formula Ford etc.) you'll never really know who is the best.
Tough outing for Ferrari. They expected to be within seconds of the Mercs, but it would appear they're not there. Vettel and Raikkonen took a step backwards (and appeared to both hate their cars this weekend) and Bottas (rumored to be with Ferrari next season) had a good race. Rosberg raced like an absolute madman today.
The McLaren faithful seem to think Honda is to blame for the teams' struggles, but today it was clear McLaren has a number of their own problems which were hidden behind the detuned Honda power plant. As Honda improves their engine, the rest of McLaren's car seems to have issues.
brakes...
Jenson didn't even come close to competing today, either. I'm not convinced the McLaren chassis is at all good enough.
Which backs up what I said earlier. With the Mercades engine last year, they were poor. It doesn't look like it's improved this year.
Good win for Nico, but wish Lewis hadn't been hamstrung by two poor pit stops. I'd love to see them going wheel to wheel, but except that's the last thing the team want.
And who'd be a front jackman? Not a job for the faint hearted!
Monaco next, but as we know the points are really decided on the Saturday. With Nico winning their the last two years and today's result, he needs to get another victory to take the championship battle to Lewis.
Hope it's worth another 50 mph!
You joke and yet reports say the paint is lighter and could save time! (Sorry for the Express link - I seem to remember the BBC mentioning the paint is lighter but can't find a link).

brakes...
Ferrari were quite poor on this track, he couldn't get past Vettel.

Its 2kg lighter but thats not a 2kg weight saving, it just means they can locate 2kg lower down to help CofG
Apparently the brakes were fine until Alonso's visor tear off strip got stuck in the cooling vent.
Tough break on top of his crap car.
