Sigh ... This Dodger team suffers so badly with RISP. So many opportunities to jump on DeGrom only to let him get away with pop flies and soft grounders.
Can't say that I'm sorry to hear that.
Go Mets!!

I still don't think the Mets have enough to stop the Cubs hitting. Can't say that I'm sorry to hear that.

So what did we learn from last nights game. The Yankees are not dead yet. And the Mets don't have a chance once Harvey is out of the game.
(Yes, I fully expect the Dodgers to beat the Mets in Game 5, alas.)
Well, his signature is only "silence" in spanish. LOL. But really, the Dodgers beat themselves in this game. You can't tell me that DeGrom looked like his Game 1 self in this one. Still, the Mets capitalized where the Dodgers couldn't. Best of luck in the NLCS.You seem pretty quiet all of a sudden.
Meh, I don't care. The Yankees are not relevant anymore why bring it up. The Dodgers wasted a lot of at bats tonight. Good pitching beats bad hitting. So what did we learn from tonights game - Answer: The Mets are going to the NLCS !!! U thought i was going to let that one slide huh? eat your words.
They don't. I expect the Cubs to have a field day with a worse team and win in 5.I still don't think the Mets have enough to stop the Cubs hitting.
as long as he isn't a dodger manager....After he retired the Yankees went on to win 4 out of 5. The drought might have been all his fault! I really would love to see him win as a manager, he deserves a ring.
I didn't realize how bad other teams had it. I think over many years I was wallowing in my own bad luck with the SF Giants and their long, long drought (1950s-2009) with inability to get it done with Mays at first, a long 1960s watching Dodgers be the stars, having hope with Speier in the 70s and the Pacific Sock Exchange in the 80s, Barry Bonds in the 90s and 2000s.
Then we had all this pitching that seemed to just get lost in the 2000s. I can't think of too many teams that had over 50 years of that type of talent coming up empty handed. The recent Giants kind of made up for all that bad luck in the past.
Is it really his fault that the front office over paid for a bunch of aging stars?as long as he isn't a dodger manager....
AS a Braves fan I feel your pain...
Old front office. Other than Brandon McCarthy (remember him?), the signings and contracts have been dirt cheap. The old management brought in Carl Crawford and Adrian Gonzales (Crawford's contract is worth two for his production), signed Kemp and Ethier to huge (and overpriced) contracts, signed Kershaw and Grienke to huge (with early player opt out) contracts and signed a bunch of retread closers who have disappeared since being released (Chris Perez, Brandon League, Brian Wilson). Is it really his fault that the front office over paid for a bunch of aging stars?

This year's team had to replace 2 starters (McCarthy and Ryu), gave millions away so that teams can take Dee Gordon ... I mean ... Dan Haren, and Matt Kemp, bought draft picks from Miami and Baltimore, took on worthless contracts (Michael Morse, Bronson Arroyo, some will say Matt Latos) and DFA'd a bunch of relievers and starters during the start of the season. When you add all that up, you begin to realize how $200 million was pretty much wasted away.
But it's Mattingly's fault ... Lol
I know your issue since before we finally won one in San Francisco we had tons of great pitchers (Blue, Johnson, the Freak, Cain, etc) and it looked like we would never win the big one. But with Atlanta, while your pitching was great (and arguably the strongest rotation in the history of baseball), you still had that one World Series win.
You know, I'm starting to see the Dodgers the same way. For as much as Bobby Cox is a true HoF manager, people will still hate on him for not winning more World Series titles. Dodger fans are now in that seat with Mattingly. Granted the Divisional title meant much much more pre-Wild Card era than now, it's still something to appear in the postseason as something other than a wild card three times in a row. Yet people in LA are so ready to have Don packed for Miami.
Matters are worse considering the Giants have won 3 in fast succession. The Dodgers have never won 3 titles in the same decade, much less in 5 years time. So now you have fans who want instant wins. Personally, I doubt even a manager like Maddon can keep this team focused enough. It's much easier to win when you have young talented kids working on a secured long term contracts, than a bunch of All Stars who already are getting their pay.
This exactly! LA fans have been so spoiled with the Lakers, and recently the Kings, that they've lost value in what it means to get into the postseason. All I know is, this postseason will be huge for LA. Do they keep Mattingly? Do they pay through the nose for Grienke? Does Justin Turner stay as the third baseman?Don't get impatient and make the huge mistake we did in San Francisco with the 49ers. We had a coach who brought us to three straight postseason seasons and we let him go. The pressure on Jim Harbaugh was to win the big one but San Francisco fans forgot just how hapless the team was before him. Now that he's gone because we weren't happy with no Super Bowls, so are the team's hopes for postseason and we are back to being terrible in the pre-Jim Harbaugh era.
For us in San Francisco, we want to you release Mattignly, but as long as you have him it will possibly be that the Giants never take the NL West. While it was great to win the World Series, and maybe not as exciting as the first time in 2010, it was still hard to lose the NL West to the Dodgers.

I use to know more about the Giants farm. I would go watch the Fresno Grizzlies year after year. Seems like much of the 2014 Grizzlies team is either traded away or with the big club. Pretty sure you guys have some starters coming up. It'll be interesting to see what the Giants piece together this offseason, with the team coming back healthy for next year.

just read this again... you realize that:Is it really his fault that the front office over paid for a bunch of aging stars?
i don't think this post season is going to be a pitchers post season like last years was.
i think the hitters are going to be the big story.
For the Cubs, and Arrieta's, sake I hope I'm wrong...
