Speaking of chapping Selig's balls.

Rose will serve FOX as a guest analyst for the MLB on FOX pregame show on FOX and FOX Sports 1 and will also appear on "MLB Whiparound," "America's Pregame" and "FOX Sports Live" on FOX Sports 1.

"I enjoy talking baseball, and that's what this is all about," Rose said Thursday. "Enjoying the game of baseball, sitting in the green room watching two or three games, getting on TV and talking about it. It's right up my alley, I think."
FOX officials say they are hiring Rose for his on-air presence and that he will make for compelling television regardless of how one views his controversial past.
The network's move comes at a time when Rose, baseball's all-time hits leader with 4,256, has officially requested that new Commissioner Rob Manfred lift his lifetime ban from the sport.
Rose, who turned 74 on April 14, was banished in 1989 for violating Rule 21(d) while managing the Cincinnati Reds. The rule states that any player, umpire or club or league official or employee who bets on baseball shall be declared permanently ineligible.
Manfred recently told CNBC that he plans to give Rose's case a "full and fresh look." The new commissioner's predecessors, Bud Selig and Fay Vincent, had denied Rose's requests for reinstatement.
FOX, a broadcast partner of Major League Baseball, did not require the sport's permission to hire Rose. But network officials said they made baseball fully aware of their decision to audition Rose and then sign him to a contract.

And lost half of their team in the process.

Not really. wright will be back in 2 weeks and we have harvey, cuddyer and deGrom. focus on your own team and dont be raining on other peoples parade. and in baseball when you lose a player they replace the player with another one, now you know.

Two weeks comes out to a lot of games. This Mets streak has been costly.

On the bright side, they have a nice cushion and the rest of the division is pretty bad. Better to get the injuries out of the way now so they can be healthy later in the year. The Braves seem to be losing guys to steroids at a much higher pace.

I think they're starting pitching is good enough to make these injuries problems a bit easier to handle, especially this early in the season.

The Mets success hinges on Harvey staying healthy. Hopefully his tommy john's holds and other pitchers on the staff can take some load off of his arm.

baseball is a team sport. no team "hinges" off of just one player...
Eh, the Red Sox were Jon Lester last year. When he pitched it was a guaranteed win. The Yankees currently are A-Rod. Big stars help the rest of the team. Sure you need everyone to play but it takes clutch players to win.

As if they couldn't get younger or more talented, the Cubs have promoted Addison Russell to the big leagues. The young talent level is ridiculous.

Perhaps the sweetest sight in baseball is that of Don Mattingly complaining to everyone in sight, but no avail. He yelled at the umpires, he yelled at the grounds crew, I'm surprised he didn't yell at Giants' CEO Larry Baer in his box seats, Brian Wilson style.

The umpires rightly ruled that the contact between Gregor Blanco and third base coach Roberto Kelly was incidental, and Joe Panik promptly followed with a game-winning sacrifice fly.

Always happy to see the Giants turn it up a notch for the Dodgers.

Heard it was snowing at the Tigers/Yankees game. I try not to watch cause I work at Yankee Stadium and I have to live with them playing like crap. I hope they bring that winning attitude back with them tomorrow or I'm in for a long weekend of work.

I live just north of NYC and it's been off and on flurries all day. Amazing.
