What really pisses me off about this whole thing is that now Goodell is going to feel even more emboldened to railroad teams or players. Not only is he now authorized to do so by the unbelievably childish group of billionaires who own the teams (Kraft included - he's got not leg to stand on when he sat and watched the Cowboys, Redskins, Dolphins, Saints, and, most recently, Chiefs get hosed), but he's got this court case on his side.

The players are fools if they allow him this much latitude in the next CBA.

Pretty much. And the players association just looks like fools in the whole thing too as they railroaded one of their own members because they can't accept they did a piss poor job of negotiating in 2011.

When this CBA expires there will be another lockout, and it's likely to be much longer than the previous one. I suspect there will be no NFL season in 2021.

Thank god this BS is over. Only QB ever to get suspended for cheating put it in the books and let's move on

The other side of the coin is that every player who gets suspended won't be running to the courts to try and get their suspensions overturned, that would have set a horrible precedent and been a huge waste of time and resources

Think about it this way, knowing that Goodell could lay down the hammer, hopefully players/teams will think twice about cheating. I hope the outcome sets a precedent that if you try to cheat and you get caught or there's any indication that anyone is involved, you will get punished. Frankly I'm tired of seeing/hearing the Patriots be named almost every year trying to skirt the rule book.

It's everybody's fault except Brady. Got it.

yup Goddell, the NFLPA, science, the judges, fans of other teams.... Everyone here is to blame except for the team that is involved in some cheating scandal every other year.

Are we gonna do Fantasy Football this year ?

Training camp is almost here with pre-season games a month away.

I need to know so I can prepare to be in 5th place again. :p

...by "every other year", you mean 2007 and 2014? Otherwise, what the hell are you talking about?

By the way, the Jets got busted for ball tampering in 2009 and for a scheme to trip opposing players in 2010. Culture of cheating and all that.

I have to say as each year passes, I hate loath the NFL more and more, but yet, this year, I'm looking forward to the start of the NFL. I much prefer college over the NFL, but I'll probably watch them.

I had the NFL package, on DirectTV, and I'll go ahead and cancel it, but if they offer a reduced rate, I may jump on it. I really do enjoy watching other games that are out of my area and not available.

A scheme to trip players? thats a bit of a reach dont you think? it was one assistant coach who on a whim decided to trip a player... A scheme would entail some planning ahead you know kind of like getting someone to film others teams signals.... Or perhaps organizing your ball boys to deflate a little air out of your footballs. But you keep reaching and defending that scummy POS franchise up there in NE.

A scheme to trip players?

"Five inactive players were ordered by Alosi to stand together nearly shoulder-to-shoulder on the sideline in New York's 10-6 loss to Miami on Dec. 12. Tight end Jeff Cumberland, one of the inactive players, said Alosi had told them to do that all season." - from the article I linked to. Sounds like a scheme to me. Glad to see you still don't understand Spygate, though.

Nobody understands spygate or deflate-gate, only Patriots fans have a firm grasp on that

No, but NE fans tend to be the ones who read past the headlines. There are objective journalists and fans in other places who do the same, but mostly Goodell has used ESPN and the other network shills to paint a very specific picture, one that people who hate NE are all to happy to buy into.

EDIT: and I will fully admit I was just as guilty of not reading past the headlines when it came to other Goodell railroad jobs, like the Saints and Dolphins. Now I'm convinced that those investigations were not on the level and that NFL fans were shown a very skewed pictured about the situation so we'd be okay with the absurd punishment Goodell levied.

Brady should pose an interesting draft choice for any FF players this year. DO you draft him #1 knowing he's out for 4 weeks or hope he drops and grab him later?

Brady will start to be a risky pick. At some point his numbers are going to drop off.
