Feel bad for Romo seems like a great guy and just can't get healthy :(
yep.

Who else would you have run the team? Sanchez? I think of all the options they had, Sieman was their best option, especially since he has play very well in preseason and Sanchez hadn't. Profootballtalk had some rumors that the Broncos was trying to trade Sanchez but I don't think anyone will take him at this point. They're better off cutting him, and saving that 7th round pick

Garoppolo looked shaky in his last game, given that he has had a long time to prepare its a bit unnerving to see him not firing on all cylinders. Also with Brady getting older, the Patriots don't seem to have a succession plan in the works. I can't believe Garoppolo is that succession plan. Just look at the 2015 Cowboys who had no solid backup for Romo

Was the Bronco offense that good last year? Seems their D did most of the work. Sieman will do better than most think, imho, I'm sure there will be a cameo from Sanches here and there though.

Patriots... I don't know. The first key to them winning is getting rid of their hideous uniforms and going back to classic kits. ;)

No, in fact I saw on ESPN, that they had more interceptions then Tds and their combined QB rating was somewhere in the 70s.

Thy need Sieman to not lose the game, something that Sanchez has shown a knack for (losing that is)

You are right, I don't have a lot of faith in Garopollo right now hopefully he can prove me wrong. Nobody is expecting him to be a Tom Brady, he just has to be good enough to not lose the games. You are right this should be the year where the Patriots put a succession plan in place, they need that

Yeah it was their unbelievable defense that won them the SB, Von Miller, DeMarcus Ware and CJ Andersson played a perfect Superbowl, Newton just like Brady had no answer against them. I expect the Broncos to be in the mix again they are one of the few teams that doesn't need a great QB to carry them.

It will also be interesting to see how the Seahawks succession plan for Beastmode Marshawn Lynch works out.

Looks like Joey Bosa signs with the Charger. Talk about a screw up of epic proportions, its the chargers who messed this up from what I've seen on the sports sites. They didn't want to give Bosa what every other team provided in a rookie contract.

Still, sitting out the season, and going back into the draft would meant a huge pay cut for Bosa (odds were high that he'd sink in the draft).

The Broncos have named Trevor Sieman their starting QB for the season opener. Has any defending Super Bowl champion ever started the next season with a second year QB who hasn't ever taken a snap in a regular season game?

Brian Griese for John Elway? Not sure if Griese had gotten into a game the prior season, but Bubby Brister was the heir apparent. I've always blamed Shanahan for ruining the team with that decision.

Oh yeah, forgot all about the Brian Griese debacle.

Had to look it up, but Griese did play in the 1998 season:

Looks like he had three snaps as the third stringer in the October 4 game against the Eagles.

Bad news for Vikings fans. Teddy Bridgewater dislocated his knee and tore his ACL in a non-contact drill. Sad to see this, I like Teddy.

"Teddy suffered a complete tear to his ACL and other structural damage," the team said in a statement Tuesday evening after Bridgewater underwent an MRI. "Fortunately, there appears to be no nerve or arterial damage."

Bridgewater dropped back to pass during a drill, planted his foot and immediately went down. Trainers rushed to his side and began inflating an aircast, while the quarterback appeared to be holding his left leg.

Several players threw their helmets and shouted expletives as they scattered, and many simultaneously dropped to one knee in prayer. Moments later, a siren-blaring ambulance pulled into the team's Winter Park headquarters, stayed for about 10 minutes and then pulled away.

I didn't see it, I don't want to see it, and I'm saddened to hear that he incurred such a devastating injury.

From what I've read (as preliminary as it is), he's out for the year, but I wonder if could come back at all. Different injury, but I instantly think back to Joe Theismann

I have no desire to see videos of these types of injuries.
Agreed, and when I'm watching a game, I'll be sure to turn away for such replays. TV seems to relish the idea of replaying an injury, over and over, and in slow mo.

Like Marc Mariani a couple of years ago when he had his leg snapped in a preseason game. They just kept showing it from different angles and in slow motion. After seeing it in real-time, we got the point when his foot was pointing the wrong direction.

dang. poor kid. i like him too.
Yeah, I think this could have been a good year for him, everything was in place for the Offense to really have the potential to go far.

Odd that it happened in practice, must have been some peculiar action that dislocated his knee and ripped his ACL completely off (complete tear I heard)

Wow. Vikings traded for Bradford for a 1st round pick in 2017 and 4th round pick in 2018. For the Eagles, I guess the gamble on signing Bradford to that extension paid off because they essentially got that back and then some with a 1st rounder next year.

So, Mark Sanchez to the Cowboys and Bradford to the Vikings, really interesting.

Both being placed in better situations than what they left. Hate the Cowboys all you want but their team is loaded with talent on both sides of the ball so Sanchez isn't expected to do much, if anything. Just no more butt-fumbles.

Bradford is finally on a team with talent not found in St. Louis or Philadelphia. Here is his best opportunity to show why he was picked first overall. I'm not expecting Peyton Manning/Tom Brady numbers and execution, but should show better than what he has shown since he entered the league.

Yeah, I'm curious to see how both perform. Will Sanchez be a backup or the starter, I think Bradford will be the starter, lets see how he does.

From what I heard, the cowboys wanted veteran WB McCown, but the Browns wanted a first round pick, which is ludicrous given his age, and skill level. Looks like the Browns are living up to their dumpster fire reputation, and totally misplayed the market value of a 37 year old QB

Reports are that Sanchez is going to Dallas to back up Prescott. I thought his signing by the Broncos was curious from the beginning. Elway is trying to sign a veteran QB to mentor his two very green signal callers. He wouldn't name the guy, but we'll hear about it soon.

I think he was mostly an insurance policy, and when they found out he really wan't needed, they saved some money and a draft pick by cutting him.

I agree. Bradford will do better with the Vikings.
I think he's probably the viking's best option, but I'm not entirely sold on Bradford. Whether its his early injuries, or his hissy fit of having to compete for the starting job, or his low QBR. I hope the best for vikings, the more I see them and their coach, the more I like them
