Bears send Martellus Bennett to the Patriots for a pick.

Good move for both. Bears rebuilding, Patriots can handle the sideshow nonsense from Bennett.

Damn Bennett and Gronk that dual threat is going to be tough to defend. That gives the patriots a killer threat like when they had Hernandez

...and they signed Chris Long as well. While having his share of injuries the last couple of years and his age, he still provides some veteran presence where you don't have to worry about whether or not he can pick up his assignments or not. Low risk, high reward after releasing Chandler Jones.

Dolphins lose out on CJ Anderson - which I think will ultimately work out well for them. Jay Ajayi showed good potential in his rookie season and there should be some reasonable RB talent in the draft that should be available in the mid to late rounds. RBs are having a tough time of it lately, other than Peterson and perhaps Gurley, they are almost becoming an afterthought. It is becoming almost impossible to be a standout RB in the NFL these days and get paid.

As a Dolphin fan - thought it worth marking the decision they made almost exactly 10 years to the day to trade for Daunte Culpepper rather than bring in Drew Brees. Or as Al Michaels would have called it - the day they chose a knee over a shoulder.

Good luck with Tannenbaum. He's got you guys in cap hell already and his draft picks sucked when he was employed by the jets.

The issue is, that since coming to the pros (for the most part), he's been an awful quarterback. Perhaps under the proper tutelage he'd flourish but people were saying that under Chip Kelly's offense and that didn't occur

How can you say that? He went to the AFCCG twice. Put talent around him and he's a pretty damn good game manager. Expect his to be an elite quarterback? Better pad your O linemen's asses.

RIP Tray Walker. Horrible news. Thoughts and prayers to his family and teammates.

Yes, it is a very sad situation. I really liked John Harbaugh's letter to the team.

An Open Letter to Our Team

Men,

Right now, this moment is an incredibly difficult time for our Team and our Family. One of our Brothers, Tray Walker, is fighting for his life. I know we are showering him with, and covering he and his family with, Prayer and hope.

That was the kind of phone call you never want [to] get as a coach, as a parent, as a brother, as a friend. This shook me and all of us. Like some of you, I haven’t been able to rest since hearing the news late last night.

As I focused about Tray this morning, some thoughts came to mind that I wanted to share. What would I say to my own son, if I had a son, in a situation like this? You guys are that important to me.

This is what I would be saying to you in the team meeting room if we were together today: There is a lot going on out there and you are going to be involved in tough and difficult situations. You are making and will continue to make important choices pretty much every day. That’s okay. That’s our reality. It can even be very good to be put in different circumstances. To make it right, you are going to have to grow up fast. Probably faster than many of your friends and family.

Please remember to …

Lead in your home. Take care of Your Family and Yourself every single day. Think about who you are and where you are going, and what you stand for. Look after one another. Only then can you be your most effective on the job and in every area of your life.

Please consider your actions and choices. There are always consequences. Choose who you allow to advise you. Consider the quality of the council you take. Put yourself in positions to succeed. Turn away from unnecessary and risky behavior. Take care of your physical well-being. Live a healthy lifestyle. Pursue those things that make you better. Rest well. Eat well. Laugh with those who you love and love you. Fulfil [sic] your obligations effectively.

Be your own best friend. Do not be an enemy onto yourself. Turn away from trouble and harm. Walk away from foolish behavior. Ignore silly and unwise advice -- You’ll know it when you see it.

Get to know those people in your life who manage to walk free from the weight of self-created obstacles. Get close to those who have gone where you want to go, and have accomplished what you want to accomplish. Grow Spiritually. Think about what and who you want to become.

I am asking you to consider what is at stake in your life. Consider what your thoughts, actions and choices mean to those around you. Live your life fully and with purpose. Have fun and share your happiness. Find Your Faith, and allow God to Grow Your Faith.

Let’s look out for one another. Be a great brother and friend. Inquire. Listen. Ask. Investigate. Reach out. Be There. Take a Step. Go For It.

Remember, We are Brothers in Arms. And, again, take care of each other.

John

I don't like this BS "ride off into the sunset" crap. You always have to come back and defend your title. Also I find it funny how all these arm chair coaches always keep saying "manning should just retire" i'm pretty sure manning will do what he thinks is best. who are you really to say "itll look bad" if he just flounders staying one extra year.

The man played 18 years and had 4 neck surgeries lol.

I'm sure you know better than he does when he should stop playing or continue.
Whoa whoa relax. All I'm saying is people are not always able to come back. Do you know how much pain he was in or how he felt after playing a game on Sunday? Only he knows....It's easy for you to sit there on your couch and say you don't like this riding off into the sunset crap, and call for someone to come back and defend a title. but you have no idea what a toll a football season takes on someone's body, especially a man who is now in his 40s and has been taking punishment to his body for so long.... I'm sure he would have wanted to keep playing a lot longer but sometimes you just can't physically.

i agree with everything you said. my problem is with people who insinuate that manning should listen to them. or they say "if i were in his place" but they're not. anyway i just meant that its my personal opinion that retiring and riding off into the sunset is dumb, but thats just me.

Or you could be like Babe Ruth and have to be told to go home because you physically can't play anymore. At some point these guys need to know when to hang it up and not make fools of themselves because they still "love the game". I would rather go out on top and not limping to the finish.

what defines "make a fool of themselves"? why should they care what fans think of them; its their livelihood. honestly i lose respect for players who try to pander to fans interest (like lebron when he went back to cleveland)

also that's your opinion which is fine. i'd rather be forced out and physically not able to play anymore rather than just "bow out" and worry about what nobody fans think of me.

Teams don't want to play washed up players. Denver was not going to renew his contract this year.

Looks like Colts owner Irsay is comparing the risk of CTE with that of taking an asprin. The more the NFL and its owners talk, the more they look like the big tobacco companies opening their mouths about the risks of smoking back in the 80s.

While there certainly needs to be more research, and hopefully they can develop a test to determine CTE while the person is alive, comments like Irsay's is just ludicrous

Well he is an expert on taking pills after all.

Sad day for Jets fans. D'Brickashaw Ferguson retiring after 10 seasons. Started 167 games, never on an injury report and only missed one play his entire career and that was on the last play of the game with the Jets down 7. Fun fact, Darrelle Revis played LT on that play. Amazing career.

Rams trade up to the number 1 overall pick.

As expected, the price is super steep.

Ridiculous, very disappointed as a Rams fan. This pretty much confirms that they're looking at the QB position, and the QB position only and want their pick of any of the 3 QB's. If this was last year, I wouldn't be as angry because we knew what we had on defense and it would be worth the gamble. Now that the Rams lost some key players, I don't know if I'd be comfortable giving up all those picks and not being able to draft the positions we lost in FA.

All I can say it's boom or bust not just for the player but for the coaching staff and top personnel. If you're giving away the future, one of these QB's better be the one. Washington gamble the same way but they were lucky they had Cousins when they did and how he transformed overnight.

Jeff Fisher developing a QB? Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha.
