My theory is that once they remove the "Add free gift message" they will shortly prepare it for shipping.

I'm in the same boat. All-day client meeting kept me out of the loop so I couldn't order until 7 PM PDT. My est. delivery dates are 12/5 - 12/9. Based on the activity on here, I'm hoping we see them before Thanksgiving.

I'm in the same delivery window. Stock 13" TB, live on the east coast. I hope you're right! Even the week after Thanksgiving would be exciting!

Seeing the pattern develop since yesterday it looks like Apple is slowly going through all the earliest orders and charging cards as the laptop is assigned to the individual. However, in most cases we would be seeing P4S status quickly after the charges. But so far we haven't seen any for the BTO touchbar ones. This tells me that those of us who ordered very early and still haven't had a charge should not worry yet. Apple must be building up for a large shipment later this week. Likely all of us who ordered within an hour or maybe more after the keynote will all end up on the same plane later this week. For the next day or so we will all eventually get hit by the charge and then everyone will start seeing the P4S change.

This is my optimistic view on things and digging into my memories of this same situation from 2012 with the first rMBP, I remember a very similar situation. People will see others getting charges and P4S even though they ordered after them. But in the end it should all work out.

I have another theory that does not necessarily contradict yours. I can't remember a pre-order situation where my card was finally charged and my order didn't change to PSF. This is a new process flow or a huge bug. I doubt it's a bug as they would have rectified it by now. So going under the new process theory, I think they are trying to time the delivery of the new touch MBP's to first wave customers to coincide with having demo models at the stores and when the review embargo expires. The goal of this exercise is to create the maximum amount of buzz. There were several reports that some stores will have touch demo models Wednesday or Thursday of this week which is theoretically possible when the first wave of pre-orders that were charged could get delivered if they are in flight now, 2-3 days transit time. It's just a pretty wild theory, but it's my best idea why we have been charged and not PFS after 24 hours.

Has anyone seen Apple giving tracking numbers from China before?
Could also be that the macs are already in the country and they will ship from here. I ordered an adapter from Apple and it was scan here in the US but I'm certain that it was made in china.

Same here. Other than trying to purchase a Nintendo NES Classic in the morning, I'll be home that day as well lol.

I have for the last two iPhones that I ordered. I was able to track it from China, to Alaska, to Louisville, KY and then to my area in Maryland.

Does anyone know if Apple uses Fedex or UPS for Mac orders? They seem to use UPS for iPhones but I can vaguely remember them using Fedex for some of my Macs. That may have been iMac though out of the US.??

With these machines being BTO they will track out of China. Sure lots of other Apple stuff is made there but then it is moved to US to wait to be distributed as needed like your adapter. I've traced iPhone shipments and other Macs out of China before.

To me this makes sense, if I would be Apple I think that I would not provide the computers before the first "controlled" reviews have been published.

I expect that our MBP's will be shipped via UPS in the States. If you can swing it, you MIGHT want to pick up your computer at the UPS Customer Center in your area. Or maybe not, depending on where your Customer Center is. My nearest Customer Center is across the street from the UPS shipping area, the area where the trucks are loaded for delivery to my area, thus all they have to do is drive the stuff across the street to the Customer Center. I arrive when it opens and wait around for the truck to deliver to the CC. It only takes a half hour or so for that to happen.

Any 3 to 4 Weeks orders to germany here ? ;)

Yep!

They'll most likely be shipped using DHL in Europe countries :D The iPhone 6 was the last thing that I got from Apple via UPS :)

I checked back on my past Mac orders. In 2012 Apple used Fedex for the 2012 rMBP. In 2015 they used UPS for my 12"rMB. For my iMac in 2015 they used Fedex but that came out of the US.

So, how do we indicate that we want to pick it up at our customer center? Mine is only 15 minutes drive from my house.
