Cancelled my initial order (13" TB, 3.1GHz i5, 16GB ram, 1TB SSD) placed shortly after the announcement, because I was concerned about the ability to drive a 5k display w/o sluggishness). Will order a 15" (2.7GHz i7, 1TB SSD, 460 GPU) instead. Unfortunately, this means having to wait over a month.

The wait is worth getting what will make you sleep better at night and work faster during the day.

Maybe not the correct thread but which dongles did you bought? 3-4 weeker here as well (from Europe)

Yeah it is a lot of money but when the computer arrives you will forget all about it! (the money you spent, or the gift cards)

These are for what I got:

- Western Digital My Passport Air 1TB USB 3.0 --> USB-A to USB-C short adapter (came with Pixel XL phone)
- 4TB LaCie d2 Thunderbolt 2 Drive --> Apple Thunderbolt 3 to Thunderbolt 2 adapter
- Work Projectors use DVI --> Apple Minidisplay Port to DVI adapter
- Thunderbolt Cinema Display --> Apple Thunderbolt 3 to Thunderbolt 2 adapter
- Pixel XL Phone (Personal) - extra USB-C to USB-C cable
- iPhone 6S (Work Phone) - Apple USB-C to Lightning cable (1m)

Purchased 15" MBP within about 15 minutes of Keynote ending. Education discount and CTO.

Nov 17-25 delivery. Card charged yesterday morning. Got really exited about it but haven't seen anything change yet.

Also bought Sandisk USB-C SD Card reader from Apple Store App for $29 today. It's usually $49 but I guess that $20 discount persuaded me.

Purchased Anker USB-A to USB-C adapter and Monoprice USB-C to USB Micro-B SS cable on Amazon.com

That should be all the "dongles" I need. That's less than $50. Not too bad considering what the MBP cost. Truthfully I had no reason for the Anker Adapter but bought it just to have one. And the Monoprice cable for my external drives was definitely on par price wise with USB 3.0 cables for USB-A.

Ah sounds nice!

I'm thinking of what type of USB-C dongles I'm getting.. I have an Wester Digital just like you so maybe the USB-A to USB-C adapter then from Apple. I want to have like a HUB with an Ethernetport. I think I found one at Amazon :)

You do realize there was never a wait for the non-touch bar version right?
But you do realize that there is a wait when ordering something with a estimated delivery date right?

Add the fact the delivery date changed when I upgraded the RAM.

I want to invest in a 4/5K monitor in the future, the 450 will be okay for this right? I ordered the stock 15".

Why do you think the 13" won't be capable of running the 5K display? I thought it was supposed to be able to handle one 5K display without any issues.

The only discrepancy with the displays and the MBP's are which are capable of charging the 13" vs. the 15". 13" should be able to run a 5K.

Yea I guess I'd also be skeptical of the 13 inch (which Im getting) being able to drive a 5K display fluidly, however I'd be interested to know otherwise

dang it i need something like this for a segate hard drive.
What model is your Seagate?

From Arstechnica's review of the non-Touch 13":

"To that end, I plugged the Pro into the DisplayPort of a 4K Dell monitor I've got for this sort of testing. The 2015 Pro and Air could both drive 4K displays at 60Hz over a single cable, but they weren't great at it—even for basic desktop use, that's a lot of pixels for one integrated GPU to push. The new Pro still isn't perfect, but it's much better. I set both the Pro's internal display and the Dell display to their default scaling modes and opened up 10 windows on each screen, and then I used the macOS trackpad gestures to do things like switching between different full-screen apps and using Mission Control. The GPU definitely starts dropping frames when it's working this hard, but everything is more than fluid enough to be usable (this was also true with the 4K display set to 5K mode, something I wanted to test because the new Pros can drive 5K displays over a single Thunderbolt cable. Obviously, the higher the resolution and the more windows you have open the jerkier things get)."

I would think the Iris 550 in the Touch model would do a better job of course, but how much remains to be seen until we can get some good reviews.

Why don't I see any discounts in the Belgian apple store.
I'm looking for two normal Usb connections, an hdmi connection and an sd card reader would be nice but not the most important...
Has anybody got a good tip on what to buy? As far as I've seen it's gonna be quite expensive if I buy it in the apple store...

Thanks, I assumed as much - but perhaps the 550 is better. I believe the 550 just has a higher clock speed however

Hi there - I am a Pacific Time Zone user! Have been using the forums for a while for reference - never posted though!

15-22 timeframe here - I had called a few days ago and had it bumped, which I am assuming was a mistake. Originally had 17-24 I believe.

Place order few minutes after the keynote was done.
15"
2.9
1Tb
4gb
...

Card just charged after clearing with my bank that the charge was ok! Hope that doesn't screw the delivery or shipment.

I'm still on the lookout for consensus regarding a good dock to get, I basically want something with HDMI and an SD card reader. I've seen a few options but no one seems very excited about them

I saw one on Mobile Tech review that seemed kind of bulky but solid. I've read review on the Saitichi or whatever they are called that are apparently very inconsistent and crappy build.

I ordered about 8 different configurations over the course of the first few days, and cancelled all but one:
15" w/ Touch Bar
2.7GHz i7
1TB SSD
16GB RAM
Radeon Pro 460

Coming December 6th to the Apple Store closest to the MA/NH border (so I can avoid paying $~200 in sales tax)

Has anyone with a base model gotten charged? Or just BTO?
Like many people here, I haven't been charged and I'm getting paranoid.

No one who ordered the stock models has been charged. I've been anxiously waiting myself. Someone suggested it could be because ours would ship domestically (instead of from China) so we won't see the charge until a day or two before delivery.
