What did you order? Shipping dates or pickup dates?

I ordered
15 Macbook Pro Space Gray
  • 2.7GHz quad-core Intel Core i7 processor
  • Turbo Boost up to 3.6GHz
  • 16GB 2133MHz memory
  • 1 TB PCIe-based SSD1
Selecting Delivery as Pickup date was 11/25
Deliver Nov. 17- Nov. 25th.

Has any of the October 28th orders started any movement?

How long will you own this new laptop? Is getting something a month sooner that you didn't want as much and having it for years; better than waiting another month?

I guess the killer factor is, I don't know if I really want the touch bar, hard to know if I will really like it without trying. Also it isn't possible to predict my needs in 1-3 years time, 8gb RAM/256gb storage and i5 15w seem perfectly fine for me for now... Dilemmas...

For the people who said avoid checking this thread,
there is a famous saying from where I come that says: "dying with people is way easier than dying alone"

So I am dying with you guys, MBP 13" Stock , Delivery Date Dec 6 - Dec 12.

Identical spec and dates to me.

Does anyone know or have any idea when the Touchbar pros will be available in Apple retail stores?

I think some people said middle of December, but that is based on what apple support said so that probably means nothing.

My honest opinion is that it will be a complete novelty. Sure it will be useful for emoji's and video scrubbing, but outside of that I think most people will initially force themselves to use it. It has been reported that anything the touchbar does must also be doable without the touchbar.

I have one on order, but I also currently have the no TB version. I will probably compare the two side by side for a week and see what sticks. It honestly will probably come down to battery.

I think you are right. I guess my worry was I couldn't decide whether 8gb/256gb was enough for me on the stock model - and I don't think there is value in upgrading the stock model to 16gb/512gb instead of just jumping onto the touch bar model, which will provide faster RAM and a 28w CPU instead of a 15w CPU.

Folks,

Just spoke with an Apple rep.

They are advising not to attempt to upgrade your order to overnight shipping.

It will totally screw up anything coming from overseas.

The fastest they can accomplish without delay is 1-2 day shipping.

From history of previous preorders, does Apple sends towards beginning or end of predicted period. After changing my order twice (last on 7th) I've been down to 16-22 December . I expect it to be delivered one week earlier but will it be more 9th or 15th?

May as well give it a shot. It's going to be part of the line for the next few years. I think it's a good "idea" but it needs to fly with developers to turn it into something more. In 2012 I had a MBA with 4gb of ram, when it wasn't enough - sold and bought a different machine. I guess it depends, for some people they can keep the same machine for 4-5 years, others don't make it that far.

Damn, mid December is a ways off. I'm still hoping for at least the end of next week or the last week of November.

Well, my authorization has fallen off my credit card. I was pre-authorized on 11/04/2016 at 4:50AM EST in the amount of $3,422.93. I don't see the actual charge for the order either, so I'm assuming that Apple is just pre-authorizing our cards before building the items, then will build them and ship them out, and use the same pre-authorization code to charge our cards when they ship the items. Since they already have the pre-authorization it could be anytime for them to ship these out to us. I'm hoping for an earlier delivery, but in reality it'll be closer to the end of their estimates.

Fair enough! The CPU in the TB model is going to be quite a bit faster; but it depends entirely upon what you want to accomplish with it. For a media consumption machine, the 13" non-touch would surely work well.

I am also a CS student, but as you know with programming, programming itself doesn't require that much processing power - sure when you go onto create real world apps and otherwise, maybe you'll need the performance, but for studying/doing basic things, even in IDE's, can't imagine it requiring much overhead. Most of my time will probably be just reading documents too!

9to5Mac reporting third parties expect stock on November 17. So hopefully all of us in the 2-3 week bracket will receive ours then. :)

It's still more than a week before the BEGINNING of the window Apple quoted the earliest buyers. It would be cool if it came sooner, but the fear and dread on this page is ridiculous.

Now I'm off to read actual news where more ridiculous fear and dread awaits me...

Or maybe I should just get off the internet for a bit.

I think that those of us who had their credit cards hit with a PENDING charge are about to have their BTO computers built. Then, it will go to Preparing for Shipment, then Shipped, and that's when our credit cards will be charged.

This is honestly the reason I ordered through best buy. Last year I got my preorder rMB from them before the Apple Store.

Mines still at 14th....so only 5 days to go for that! Getting frustrating now though, just want to see a P2S.

Historically they deliver ahead of estimates, sans the people with the earliest window.
